இந்தியாவின் சுதந்திரப் போராட்ட வீரர்களுக்கு அஞ்சலி செலுத்தும் வகையில், ‘கருங்காலி’ மற்றும் ‘நான் சிகப்பு மனிதன்’ புகழ் நடிகர் சேத்தன் சீனு, 12 விடுதலை வீரர்களின் வேடங்களில் பிரமாண்ட போட்டோஷூட் செய்துள்ளார்.
சுதந்திரத்திற்காக பாடுபட்ட நாயகர்களுக்கு அஞ்சலி செலுத்தும் விதமாக குடியரசு தினமான ஜனவரி 26 அன்று காலை 10.05 மணி முதல் இந்த புகைப்படங்கள் ஒவ்வொன்றாக வெளியிடப்படும். ஜனவரி 23 முதல் முன்னோட்டம் வெளியிடப்படும்.
இந்த முயற்சியைப் பற்றி பேசிய சேத்தன் சீனு, சில ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு தனது சகோதரியிடம் இந்த யோசனையை பற்றி கூறியதாக தெரிவித்தார்.
“இந்த முயற்சி ஒரு திரைப்படத்திற்காக தொடங்கப்பட்டது. சில சுதந்திர போராட்ட வீரர்களை திரையில் பிரதிபலிக்க நான் விரும்பினேன், அதைப் பற்றி ஆராய்ச்சி செய்ய ஆரம்பித்தேன்.
ஆனால் விவாதத்தின் போது இந்த முயற்சியை திரைப்படமாக மாற்ற பெரும் பொருட்செலவு ஆகும் என்பதை உணர்ந்தோம். எனவே, புகைப்படம் மூலமாக பல்வேறு இயக்குநர்கள் மற்றும் தயாரிப்பாளர்களுக்கு இதை கொண்டு சேர்க்க எண்ணினோம். இதைத்தொடர்ந்து, 12 சுதந்திர போராட்ட வீரர்களாக கேலண்டர் போட்டோஷூட் நடத்தினோம்,” என்றார்.
போட்டோஷூட்டின் மேக்கிங் வீடியோவும் வரும் நாட்களில் வெளியிடப்படும் என்று சேத்தன் சீனு கூறினார். இந்த திட்டத்தை முயற்சிக்க கமல்ஹாசன் தனது உத்வேகமாக இருந்தார் என்றும் சேத்தன் கூறினார்.
“அவர் செய்ததில் குறைந்தபட்சம் ஒரு சதவீதத்தையாவது என்னால் அடைய முடிந்தால் நான் மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியாகவும் திருப்தியாகவும் இருப்பேன்,” என்று அவர் மேலும் கூறினார்.
போட்டோஷூட்டை பார்த்தவர்கள் பாராட்டியுள்ளனர் என்றும் சேத்தன் சீனு கூறினார்.
மணிரத்னம் இயக்கிய ‘அஞ்சலி’ படத்தில் குழந்தை நட்சத்திரங்களில் ஒருவராக தனது நடிப்பு வாழ்க்கையைத் தொடங்கினார் சேத்தன் சீனு. இதைத் தொடர்ந்து பல விளம்பர படங்களில் நடித்துள்ளார்.
‘தொட்டால் பூமலரும்’, ‘கருங்காலி’ ஆகிய தமிழ் படங்களிலும் மற்றும் ‘ராஜு காரி கதி’, ‘மந்திரா 2’ மற்றும் ‘பெல்லிக்கு முந்து பிரேம கதா’ ஆகிய தெலுங்கு படங்களின் கதாநாயகனாகவும் சேத்தன் தோன்றியுள்ளார்.
கதாநாயகனாக இவரது அடுத்த படமான ‘வித்யார்த்தி’ (தமிழில் ‘மாணவன்’) வெளியீட்டிற்காக தயாராக உள்ளது. மேலும், நடிகை காவேரி கல்யாணி இயக்கும் பன்மொழி படத்திலும் கதாநாயகனாக நடிக்கிறார்.

In a tribute to India’s freedom fighters, actor Chethan Cheenu, known for ‘Karungali’ and ‘Naan Sigappu Manithan’ in Tamil and ‘Raju Gari Gadhi’ and ‘Mantra 2’ in Telugu, has done a photoshoot as 12 different freedom fighters.
These photos will be released one by one from 10.05 am on January 26th, as a Tribute to Iconic Heroes as Republic Day special. The Pre Looks of the photos will be released from Today (January 23rd).
Speaking about the initiative, Chethan Cheenu said he discussed this idea with his sister a few years ago. “This initiative had actually started for a film. I wanted to represent some freedom fighters on screen and started researching about them.
But during the discussion we realised that it would be a huge expense to turn this attempt into a film. So, we thought of pitching this idea to various directors and producers through photography. Following this, we held a calendar photoshoot with 12 freedom fighters”.
Chethan Cheenu said the making video of the photoshoot will also be released in the coming days.
He said that Kamal Haasan was his inspiration to try this project. “I would be very happy and satisfied if I could achieve at least one percent of what he did,” he added.
He also said that those who saw the photoshoot have appreciated it a lot.
Chethan Cheenu started his acting career as one of the child artistes in the film ‘Anjali’ directed by Mani Ratnam. Following this he acted in many commercials.
Chethan Cheenu has appeared in the Tamil film ‘Thottal Poomalarum’ and ‘Karungali’, Telugu movies ‘Raju Gari Gadhi’ , ‘Mantra 2’ and ‘Pelliki Mundhu Prema Katha’ in the lead roles.
His next film ‘Vidyarthi’ (‘Manavan’ in Tamil) as the protagonist is ready for release. Also, he plays the lead role in a multilingual film directed by actress Kaveri Kalyani.
