ஞானபீடம் பெற்ற கவிஞர் வைரமுத்து – “தமிழ் இலக்கியத்துக்கே கிடைத்த அங்கீகாரம்” : இயக்குநர் சீனு ராமசாமி

கவிஞர் வைரமுத்து அவர்களுக்கு இந்தியாவின் உயரிய இலக்கிய விருதான ஞானபீடம் வழங்கப்பட்டிருப்பது தமிழ் இலக்கிய வரலாற்றில் முக்கியமான நிகழ்வாகும் என்று தேசிய விருது பெற்ற திரைப்பட இயக்குநரும் கவிஞருமான சீனு ராமசாமி தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
இதுகுறித்து அவர் வெளியிட்டுள்ள கருத்தில், “இந்திய இலக்கியத்தின் உச்ச விருதான ஞானபீடம், தகுதியான படைப்பாளியை சென்றடைந்திருப்பது மகிழ்ச்சியளிக்கிறது. இந்த விருது ஒரே ஒரு படைப்பாளிக்கான அங்கீகாரம் மட்டுமல்ல; தமிழின் தொன்மை மரபுக்கும், அதன் தொடர்ச்சியாக வளர்ந்து வரும் இலக்கியப் பரப்புக்கும் கிடைத்த பெருமை,” எனக் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.

தமிழ் திரையுலகில் மனிதநேயம் மற்றும் எளிய மக்களின் வாழ்க்கையை பிரதிபலிக்கும் திரைப்படங்களுக்காக தேசிய விருது பெற்ற இயக்குநராக அறியப்படும் சீனு ராமசாமி, கவிதை உலகிலும் தனக்கென ஒரு அடையாளத்தை உருவாக்கியவர். அவரது ‘புகார் பெட்டியின் மீது படுத்துறங்கும் பூனை’, ‘கோயில் யானையின் சிறுவன்’, ‘மாசி வீதியின் கல் சந்துகள்’, ‘நினைவில் ஒளிரும் ஜிமிக்கி கம்மல்’, ‘மேகங்களின் பேத்தி’, ‘நதியழகி’, ‘முதல் ருசி’, ‘நிலத்தவள்’, ‘தயை’, ‘காற்றால் நடந்தேன்’ உள்ளிட்ட பல கவிதை நூல்கள் தமிழின் மனநிலையையும் சமூக உணர்வையும் பிரதிபலிக்கின்றன. அவற்றில் சில ஆங்கிலத்திலும் மொழிபெயர்க்கப்பட்டு சர்வதேச வாசகர்களை சென்றடைந்துள்ளன.

கவிஞர் வைரமுத்துவின் இலக்கிய பங்களிப்பைப் பற்றி பேசும் போது, “நவீன இலக்கியத்துக்கும் வெகுஜனக் கலைக்கும் இடையிலான பாலமாக செயல்பட்டவர் வைரமுத்து. தீவிரமான கவிதை உணர்வையும், பொதுமக்கள் ரசிக்கும் மொழியையும் இணைத்து, இலக்கியத்தை பெருந்திரளான மக்களிடம் கொண்டு சென்றவர் அவர்,” என சீனு ராமசாமி கூறியுள்ளார்.

அவரது திரையிசைப் பாடல்கள் வெறும் பாடல்களாக அல்லாமல் ஆழமான கவித்துவம், உள்ளுணர்வு மற்றும் தத்துவார்த்த சிந்தனைகளால் நிறைந்தவை என்றும், அதனால் தான் அவர் எழுதிய பல பாடல்கள் தேசிய விருதுகளை பெற்றுள்ளன என்றும் அவர் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

மேலும், வைரமுத்துவின் நாவல்கள் தமிழ் மண்ணின் வாழ்வியல் ஆவணங்களாக திகழ்கின்றன என்றும், குறிப்பாக உழவர் சமூகத்தின் வாழ்க்கை, மொழி, பண்பாடு மற்றும் போராட்டங்களை அவர் ஆழமாக பதிவு செய்திருப்பது தமிழ்ச் சமூக வரலாற்றில் முக்கிய இடம் பெறும் என்றும் அவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

“ஒரு கலை வெகுஜன மக்களின் இதயங்களைத் தொடுவது அதன் தகுதி குறைவு அல்ல; மாறாக அது அந்தக் கலை உண்மையாக மக்களின் கலையாக மாறியதற்கான சான்று,” என்று சீனு ராமசாமி கூறியுள்ளார்.
இந்த வரலாற்றுச் சிறப்புமிக்க முடிவை எடுத்த ஞானபீடக் குழுவினருக்கு தனது நெஞ்சார்ந்த நன்றியையும் வணக்கத்தையும் அவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

National Award–winning filmmaker and poet Seenu Ramasamy has stated that conferring the prestigious Jnanpith Award on poet Vairamuthu is a landmark moment in the history of Tamil literature.

In a statement, he said that the Jnanpith Award, regarded as India’s highest literary honour, has reached a truly deserving creator. “This award is not merely a recognition for an individual; it is a moment of pride for Tamil language, its ancient literary tradition, and the continuing legacy of its creative expression,” he noted.

Seenu Ramasamy, who is widely known in Tamil cinema for his National Award–winning films that portray human values and the lives of ordinary people, has also established a strong identity as a poet. His poetry collections include Cat Sleeping Upon the Complaint Box, The Boy of the Temple Elephant, Stone Junctions of Masi Street, Jimikki Earring That Shines in Memory, Granddaughter of the Clouds, River Beauty, The First Taste, Daughter of the Soil, Compassion, and I Walked with the Wind. Some of these works have been translated into English and have reached an international readership.

Speaking about Vairamuthu’s literary contribution, Seenu Ramasamy said, “Vairamuthu has served as a bridge between serious literature and popular art. By blending deep poetic sensibility with language that resonates with the masses, he has taken the essence of literature to a vast audience.”
He further noted that Vairamuthu’s film lyrics are not merely songs but expressions filled with poetic depth, emotional insight, and philosophical richness. The fact that several of his songs have won National Awards stands as testimony to their literary merit.

Seenu Ramasamy also highlighted that Vairamuthu’s novels function as living documents of Tamil soil. Through them, he has powerfully recorded the lives, language, culture, and struggles of farmers and marginalized communities, making them an important part of Tamil social history.

“A work of art reaching the hearts of the masses is not a weakness. On the contrary, it is proof that the art has truly become the people’s art,” he said.

Seenu Ramasamy concluded by expressing his heartfelt gratitude and respect to the Jnanpith Award committee for taking this historic decision.
