Nayan Fairy Tale – Review (2.5/5)

Casting : Nayanthara, Vignesh Shivan

Directed By : Gautham Vasudev Menon

Music By : Baylon Fonseca

Produced By : Vignesh Shivan

Nayanthara debuted as an actress in Tamil cinema and rose to become a leading actress after some hurdles and her love marriage is chronicled in the documentary ‘Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale’.

Nayanthara’s documentary is what fans expect most about her love stories, but in this she has only talked superficially about the loves she has gone through and has emphatically recorded the fact that only women are blamed for love affairs.

She has recorded that she rose to become a leading actress after overcoming many humiliations at the beginning of her debut in Tamil cinema, but did not share any information about her work as a TV host before cinema.

The documentary is purely for commercial purposes, focusing heavily on Vignesh Shivan’s romance and marriage. Although the documentary is made with an emphasis on Nayanthara’s marriage, it does not cover it in detail, which does not reveal any interesting facts about the actress Nayanthara and not a single tidbit of unknown information.

Director Gautham Menon has directed an actress documentary more like an interview than a work.

Although it is a documentary about Nayanthara, it is her husband director Vignesh Sivan who gets the attention. He humorously describes how he felt when Nayanthara told him that he loved her, how he took the criticism that came out of his affair with Nayanthara, and how he is now living up to his wife Nayanthara, and gets applause.

Overall, the documentary ‘Nayanthara – Beyond the Fairy Tale’ does not disappoint Nayanthara’s fans even though it is not up to expectations.
