சிறிய பட்ஜெட்… பெரிய எதிர்பார்ப்புகள் இல்லாமல் தொடங்கிய பயணம்… பல்வேறு தடைகளைக் கடந்து திரையரங்குகளை சென்றடைந்த படம்… தற்போது மூன்றாவது வாரத்தையும் வெற்றிகரமாகக் கடந்து ரசிகர்களின் வரவேற்புடன் ஓடிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது. அந்தப் படம் தான் ‘தி டார்க் ஹெவன்’.

ஒரு படத்தின் வெற்றியை சென்னையில் கொண்டாடுவது வழக்கம். ஆனால், தனது சொந்த ஊரான திருநெல்வேலியில் படக்குழுவினரையும் ரசிகர்களையும் ஒன்றிணைத்து வெற்றியைக் கொண்டாடியிருக்கிறார் இயக்குநர் பாலாஜி.

கடந்த செப்டம்பர் 18ஆம் தேதி வெளியான ‘தி டார்க் ஹெவன்’ திரைப்படத்தை கோதை என்டர்டெயின்மென்ட் மற்றும் எம்.எஸ். ஸ்விஸ் பிலிம் பேக்டரி நிறுவனங்கள் இணைந்து தயாரித்துள்ளன. பாலாஜி இயக்கியுள்ள இப்படத்தில் சித்து, தர்ஷிகா, ரித்விகா, வேல ராமமூர்த்தி, நிழல்கள் ரவி, ஜெயக்குமார், சாரண், அருள் டி. சங்கர், சத்யா, சாப்ளின் பாலு, கோபால் உள்ளிட்ட பலர் நடித்துள்ளனர். மணிகண்டன் பிகே ஒளிப்பதிவு செய்ய, சக்தி பாலாஜி இசையமைத்துள்ளார்.

சஸ்பென்ஸ் திரில்லர் பின்னணியில் உருவாகியுள்ள இப்படம் ரசிகர்களிடையே நல்ல வரவேற்பைப் பெற்றுள்ள நிலையில், திருநெல்வேலியில் நடைபெற்ற வெற்றி விழா, வழக்கமான சினிமா நிகழ்ச்சியாக இல்லாமல் படக்குழுவினரின் உணர்வுகளை வெளிப்படுத்தும் ஒரு சந்திப்பாக அமைந்தது.

விழாவில் திருநெல்வேலி, நாகர்கோவில் தினமலர் நிர்வாக இயக்குநர் தினேஷ் மற்றும் வழக்கறிஞர் கமலநாதன் ஆகியோர் சிறப்பு விருந்தினர்களாக கலந்து கொண்டு படக்குழுவினருக்கு வெற்றிக் கேடயங்களை வழங்கி வாழ்த்தினர்.

தினமலர் நிர்வாக இயக்குநர் தினேஷ் பேசும்போது, இயக்குநர் பாலாஜி கடந்த ஒன்பது ஆண்டுகளாகத் தனது நண்பர் என்றும், நெல்லை மண்ணைச் சேர்ந்த பல கலைஞர்களை வைத்து இப்படத்தை உருவாக்கியிருப்பது மகிழ்ச்சி அளிப்பதாகவும் தெரிவித்தார்.

“பாலாஜி வித்தியாசமான கதைகளை படமாக்கும் திறமை கொண்டவர். ‘தி டார்க் ஹெவன்’ ஒரு சஸ்பென்ஸ் திரில்லராக உருவாகியுள்ளது. படக்குழுவினர் அனைவரும் தங்களது கதாபாத்திரங்களை சிறப்பாக செய்துள்ளனர். பொதுவாக சென்னையில்தான் வெற்றி விழாக்கள் நடக்கும். ஆனால் தனது சொந்த மண்ணில் படத்தின் வெற்றியைக் கொண்டாடியிருக்கும் பாலாஜிக்கு வாழ்த்துக்கள்” என்றார்.

நடிகர் ஜெயக்குமார் பேசும்போது, இந்தப் படத்தை உருவாக்குவதற்காக இயக்குநர் பாலாஜி சந்தித்த சிரமங்களைத் தான் நேரில் பார்த்ததாகக் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

“பாலாஜி தனது பிரச்சினைகள், போராட்டங்கள் என அனைத்தையும் என்னிடம் பகிர்ந்து கொள்வார். அவர் ஒரு நல்ல மனிதர். எப்போது எங்கே அழைத்தாலும் நான் வருவேன். இந்தப் படக்குழுவில் யாரும் உயர்வு, தாழ்வு பார்க்கவில்லை. தயாரிப்பாளர் கூட அனைவருக்கும் டீ வாங்கிக் கொண்டு வருவார். ஆத்மார்த்தமாக அனைவரும் பணியாற்றிய படம் இது. இந்த வெற்றி அவர்களுக்கு கிடைத்திருப்பதில் மகிழ்ச்சி” என்றார்.

‘தி டார்க் ஹெவன்’ படத்தில் உமையாள் கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்துள்ள நடிகை தர்ஷிகா, இந்தப் படம் தனக்கு மிகவும் முக்கியமானது என்று நெகிழ்ச்சியுடன் பேசினார்.

“இந்த விழா ஒரு குடும்ப நிகழ்ச்சி போல இருக்கிறது. படம் எடுக்கும் காலத்தில் பல பிரச்சினைகளை படக்குழுவினர் சந்தித்தனர். ஆனால் அதைத் தாண்டி பாடல்கள் வெளியீடு, பத்திரிகையாளர் சந்திப்பு, ரசிகர்களை சந்திப்பது என தொடர்ந்து பயணித்தோம்.

இது எனது முதல் படம். அதைப் பெருமையாக சொல்லக்கூடிய படமாக அமைந்துள்ளது. உமையாள் கதாபாத்திரம் என் மனதில் எப்போதும் இருக்கும். என்னை இந்தப் படத்தில் அறிமுகப்படுத்திய இயக்குநர் பாலாஜிக்கு நன்றி.

பெரிய திரையரங்குகளான பிவிஆர், ஐநாக்ஸ் போன்ற இடங்களுக்குச் சென்று படம் ரசிகர்களிடம் சென்றிருப்பதை பார்க்கும்போது எங்கள் தயாரிப்பாளர்களைப் பார்த்து பெருமையாக இருக்கிறது. படத்தை சரியான முறையில் ரசிகர்களிடம் கொண்டு சேர்த்த அவர்களுக்கு நன்றி” என்றார்.

“ஜூனியர் ஆர்டிஸ்ட்டாக இருந்தாலும் கேமரா எல்லோருக்கும் ஒன்றுதான்” – சித்து

படத்தின் நாயகன் சித்து பேசும்போது, தனது சினிமா பயணத்தை நினைவுகூர்ந்து நெகிழ்ச்சியுடன் பேசினார்.

“திருவண்ணாமலையில் இருந்து சென்னை வந்து சாலிகிராமத்தில் பத்து பத்துக்கு ஒரு அறையில் தங்கியிருந்துதான் எனது சினிமா முயற்சிகளைத் தொடங்கினேன். ‘ராஜா ராணி’, ‘வல்லினம்’ போன்ற படங்களில் ஜூனியர் ஆர்டிஸ்ட்டாக வந்திருக்கிறேன்.

ஜூனியர் ஆர்டிஸ்ட்டாக இருக்கிறோமே என்று யாரும் தாழ்வாக நினைக்க வேண்டாம். கேமரா எல்லோருக்கும் ஒன்றுதான். அது யார் முன்னால் நின்றாலும் அழகாகக் காட்டும். நமக்கான நேரமும் வாய்ப்பும் வர வேண்டும், அவ்வளவுதான்.

பாலாஜியைப் பொறுத்தவரை சினிமா மீது மிகப்பெரிய ஆர்வம் கொண்டவர். நல்ல நகைச்சுவை உணர்வும் கொண்டவர். இன்று எனக்கு ஒரு நண்பராகவும் சகோதரராகவும் அவர் கிடைத்திருக்கிறார்.

ஒரு படத்தை எடுப்பது மட்டும் போதாது. அதை எப்படி மக்களிடம் கொண்டு சேர்ப்பது, எப்படி வியாபாரம் செய்வது, எப்படி வெளியிடுவது, எப்படி விளம்பரப்படுத்துவது என்பதும் முக்கியம். அந்த விஷயத்தில் பாலாஜி தெளிவாக இருக்கிறார். கதை எழுதுவது, காட்சிகளை அமைப்பது, இயக்குவது மட்டுமல்லாமல் ஒரு படத்தை திட்டமிட்டு மக்களிடம் கொண்டு சேர்ப்பதிலும் அவர் திறமையானவர். அவர் இன்னும் பெரிய உயரங்களை அடைவார்” என்றார்.

“போட்ட பணத்தைவிட இரண்டு மடங்கு லாபம்” – தயாரிப்பாளர் கோபால்

இந்த வெற்றி விழாவின் முக்கியமான தகவலை தயாரிப்பாளர் கோபால் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார்.

“‘தி டார்க் ஹெவன்’ படத்திற்கு நாங்கள் முதலீடு செய்த தொகையைவிட இதுவரை இரண்டு மடங்கு லாபம் கிடைத்துள்ளது. ஒரு சிறிய பட்ஜெட்டில் உருவான படம் பெரிய வெற்றியையும் லாபத்தையும் பெற்றிருப்பது எங்களுக்கு மிகப்பெரிய மகிழ்ச்சி.

பொதுவாக எந்தப் படத்தைப் பற்றியும் தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் லாபக் கணக்கை வெளிப்படையாகப் பேசுவதில்லை. ஆனால் இந்தப் படத்தின் விஷயத்தில் அதைத் தைரியமாகச் சொல்கிறோம். படத்தின் முழுமையான வசூல் விவரங்களையும் விரைவில் விரிவாக வெளியிடுவோம்.

“இன்று நான் ஒரு விஷயத்தை நிம்மதியாகச் செய்வேன். ஏழு ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு இன்று தான் நிம்மதியாகத் தூங்கப் போகிறேன். 2019 முதல் 2026 வரை பல பெரிய பிரச்சினைகளை சந்தித்திருக்கிறேன். பிரச்சினைகளைக் கண்டு பயந்து விடக்கூடாது, தொடர்ந்து ஓட வேண்டும் என்ற அறிவுரையை நான் என்றும் மறக்க மாட்டேன்.

என் உதவி இயக்குநர்களை மறக்க முடியாது. சினிமாவில் 24 கிராஃப்ட்கள் இருக்கிறது என்று சொல்வார்கள். ஆனால் அவர்கள் கிட்டத்தட்ட 20 கிராஃப்ட்களைச் செய்தது போல உழைத்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

படத்தில் நடித்த சித்து, ரித்விகா, தர்ஷிகா, ஜெயக்குமார் சார், நிழல்கள் ரவி சார், வேல ராமமூர்த்தி சார் உள்ளிட்ட அனைத்து நடிகர்களுக்கும், தொழில்நுட்பக் கலைஞர்களுக்கும் நன்றி.

இந்தப் படத்தில் சிறிய கதாபாத்திரங்களில் நடித்தவர்களும் திறமை கொண்டவர்கள். அவர்கள் தொடர்ந்து முயற்சி செய்தால் தங்களுக்கான அடையாளத்தை விரைவில் பெறுவார்கள் என்ற நம்பிக்கை எனக்கு இருக்கிறது.

The recently released suspense thriller ‘The Dark Heaven’ is continuing its successful theatrical run in its third week, receiving encouraging responses from audiences despite releasing alongside several competing films.

The film’s success has also emerged as a positive sign for small-budget productions, demonstrating that a well-made film can find its audience and achieve commercial success. Celebrating the milestone in a special way, director Balaji chose to host the film’s success celebration in his hometown of Tirunelveli.

Directed by Tirunelveli native Balaji, The Dark Heaven was released on September 18. The film stars Sidhu, Darshika, Rithvika, Vela Ramamoorthy, Nizhalgal Ravi, Jayakumar, Saran, Arul D Shankar, Sathya, Chaplin Balu and Gopal, among others.

The film has cinematography by Manikandan PK and music by Sakthi Balaji. It has been jointly produced by Kothai Entertainment and MS Swiss Film Factory.

The success celebration and thank-you event for fans was held in Tirunelveli, with Dinesh, Executive Director of Dinamalar, Tirunelveli-Nagercoil, and advocate Kamalnathan attending as special guests. They congratulated the team and presented success shields to the cast and crew.

Speaking at the event, Dinamalar Executive Director Dinesh said that he had been a friend of director Balaji for nearly nine years and appreciated the filmmaker for bringing together artists from the Tirunelveli region.

He praised The Dark Heaven as an engaging suspense thriller and appreciated the performances of the lead actors and supporting cast, along with Sakthi Balaji’s music.

He also congratulated Balaji for choosing to celebrate the film’s success in his hometown rather than following the usual practice of holding such events in Chennai.

“I have witnessed Balaji’s struggles closely,” says Jayakumar

Actor Jayakumar recalled witnessing director Balaji’s struggles during the making of the film.

“I have seen the difficulties and challenges Balaji went through. He would share everything with me. He is a genuinely good person, and whenever he calls me, I will be there.

“This is a different kind of film team. There was no sense of hierarchy here. Even the producer would bring tea for everyone. It was a new experience for me and taught me many things. Everyone worked on this film with complete dedication. My congratulations to the entire team,” he said.

“This is my first film, and one I can proudly talk about,” says Darshika

Actress Darshika, who played Umaiyal in the film, described the success celebration as a family gathering.

“It feels like a family function. The team faced many challenges while making the film, but after completing it, we continued with the audio launch, press meet, thank-you events and theatre visits. All of these have been memorable experiences.

“This is my first film, and it is a film I can proudly talk about. Umaiyal will always remain a special character in my heart. I thank director Balaji for giving me this opportunity.

“Sometimes, good films are made but do not receive enough visibility. When we visited large theatres such as PVR and INOX and saw that our film had reached audiences there, we felt extremely proud of our producers. They have taken the film to audiences in the right manner. I would like to thank them and congratulate everyone involved,” she said.

“The camera is the same for everyone,” says actor Sidhu

Lead actor Sidhu spoke emotionally about his journey in cinema, from working as a junior artist to becoming the lead of The Dark Heaven.

“I came to Chennai from Tiruvannamalai and stayed in a small ten-by-ten room in Saligramam while pursuing my dreams. I started getting opportunities after people saw my efforts. I have appeared as a junior artist in films such as Raja Rani and Vallinam.

“For anyone who feels low because they are working as a junior artist, I want to say this: the camera is the same for everyone. Whoever stands in front of it can be shown beautifully. All we need is the right opportunity and the right time.

“When I was working on this film, Balaji and I were not particularly close because he was under tremendous pressure with his responsibilities. But once the promotional activities began, I understood him better. He is someone who has immense passion for cinema. He also has a great sense of humour. Today, I have gained a friend and a brother in him.

“Many people are still struggling in Saligramam, waiting for their opportunity. Some continue to pursue cinema for years, carrying their struggles with them. I feel for them.

“Balaji is extremely talented. He knows how to write a story, stage scenes and direct a film. Beyond all that, he is very good at planning. He understands how to take a film to audiences, market it and make it reach a wider platform. That is an important quality for a director, and I believe he will reach greater heights.

“I am confident that the cinematographer, music composer and all the technicians who worked on this film will also go on to achieve bigger things,” Sidhu said.

“The film has given us twice the amount we invested,” says producer Gopal

Producer Gopal revealed that The Dark Heaven has delivered a strong commercial return.

“We are celebrating the success of the film today. What makes us particularly happy is that we have received nearly twice the amount we invested in the film.

“Usually, producers do not openly discuss profit figures. But we are confident enough to say this. We will reveal the complete box-office details in detail at a later stage.

“For a film made on a small budget to achieve such a success and generate significant profits is a huge achievement. We thank the audiences who made this possible and everyone who worked on the film,” he said.

Director Balaji’s emotional speech became one of the highlights of the celebration.

“Today, there is one thing I am going to do peacefully. After seven years, I will finally sleep peacefully tonight. From 2019 to 2026, I have gone through many challenges. I will never forget the advice I received — never be afraid of problems and keep moving forward.

“I can never forget my assistant directors. They say cinema has 24 crafts, but these people worked as though they were handling 20 of those crafts themselves.

“I thank Sidhu, Rithvika, Darshika, Jayakumar sir, Nizhalgal Ravi sir, Vela Ramamoorthy sir and every actor who worked on this film. I also thank every technician.

“If I start naming each technician, I am afraid I may accidentally leave someone out, so my heartfelt thanks go to everyone.

“Even the actors who appeared in small roles in this film are talented. I strongly believe that if they continue to work hard and seek opportunities in the right way, they will soon establish their own identities.

“Finally, I thank the audiences. Without them, none of this would have been possible,” Balaji said.

A celebration that honoured the entire team

The event concluded with success shields being presented to the actors and technicians who contributed to The Dark Heaven.

Rather than limiting the celebration to the lead cast and prominent technicians, the team made it a point to honour everyone who contributed to the film.

The Tirunelveli celebration thus became more than just a success meet. It was a celebration of seven years of perseverance, the commercial success of a small-budget film, the unity of a passionate team and the support of audiences.

For director Balaji, however, the celebration represented something even more personal — the end of a seven-year struggle and the beginning of a new chapter in his filmmaking journey.
