Following the success of Seetharam Benoy Case No 18 and Case of Kondana, he returns as the intense cop in Second Case of Seetharam Benoy, released on February 20. The sequel arrives with expectations — and attempts to build upon the foundation laid by its predecessor.
Story and Screenplay
Seetharam Benoy is now a respected officer at the Aanegudda police station. Just when things appear calm, two identical murders shake the town. The post-mortem report suggests the crimes were committed by a person with severe psychological disturbance, intensifying the investigation.
At the same time, Sebastian () approaches Seetharam seeking help. His erratic behaviour soon raises suspicion, leading to his arrest as a possible suspect. Adding another emotional layer to the narrative, Seetharam’s sister — who was estranged from the family during childhood — returns to Aanegudda. His remark, “This is where it all began,” hints at a past incident that intertwines with the present investigation.
Director retains the slow-burn narrative style seen in the earlier instalment. While the pacing occasionally tests patience, the psychological conflict sequences stand out as some of the film’s strongest moments. The portrayal of a disturbed mind is handled with depth and sensitivity, lending weight to the narrative.
However, the recurring device of linking an old crime to a present case makes the plot somewhat predictable. Certain investigative stretches feel prolonged, which slightly affects the sharpness and efficiency expected from the protagonist.
