Recalling his first reaction to Kaptaan’s script, Anjumm shares, “I really loved the way they narrated the entire story to me. It had a very pulpy, commercial, and heartland flavour, which immediately pulled me in. It was also very different from what I did in Mirzapur, and that excited me even more because it gave me a new region and a new space to explore. They offered me a very interesting antagonist, someone dark, entertaining, humorous, and highly unpredictable. And I’ve always believed that an antagonist is extremely important in a story like this. After all, we’ve grown up watching some iconic villains, be it Gabbar Singh or Mogambo.”
He further reflected on why Kaptaan felt like the right move at this point in his journey, adding, “After being a part of a show like Mirzapur for consecutive seasons, this felt very different to me. I really wanted to work in a different environment, and that’s when Kaptaan came to me. Even the production house, I really wanted to collaborate with them.”
