கேன்ஸை நோக்கும் ‘பாலன் த பாய்’: மஞ்சும்மல் பாய்ஸ் இயக்குநரின் அடுத்த உலகப் பயணம்
மலையாள சினிமாவின் புதிய தலைமுறை குரலாக உயர்ந்து நிற்கும் இயக்குநர் சிதம்பரம், தனது வெற்றிப் படைப்பு மஞ்சும்மல் பாய்ஸ் பிறகு உருவாக்கியுள்ள அடுத்த திரைப்படம் ‘பாலன் த பாய்’ தற்போது சர்வதேச திரையுலகின் கவனத்தை ஈர்த்து வருகிறது. உலகின் மிக முக்கியமான திரைப்பட சந்தைகளில் ஒன்றான கேன்ஸ் திரைப்பட விழாவின் ‘Marché du Film’ பகுதியில், மே 14ஆம் தேதி இப்படத்திற்கான சிறப்பு திரையிடல் நடைபெற உள்ளது.
KVN புரொடக்ஷன்ஸ் மற்றும் தெஸ்பியன் ஃபிலிம்ஸ் இணைந்து தயாரித்துள்ள இந்த திரைப்படம், அடையாளம், வாழ்வாதாரப் போராட்டம் மற்றும் தாய்-மகன் உறவின் ஆழமான உணர்வுகளை மையமாகக் கொண்டு உருவாகியுள்ளது. எழுத்தாளர் ஜித்து மாதவன் எழுதிய இந்தக் கதைக்கு, சிதம்பரம் தனது தனித்துவமான காட்சிப் பார்வையை வழங்கியுள்ளார்.
இப்படம் குறித்து இயக்குநர் சிதம்பரம் கூறுகையில், “நாம் சுமந்து செல்லும் காணாத சுமைகள் மற்றும் நம்மை தேடும் ஒரு பயணம் தான் இந்த படம். வார்த்தைகளால் வெளிப்படுத்த முடியாத உணர்வுகளை சினிமா மூலம் பேச முயற்சி செய்திருக்கிறேன். அந்த முயற்சிக்கு கேன்ஸ் போன்ற மேடையில் வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்திருப்பது பெரும் மகிழ்ச்சி,” என்றார்.
தயாரிப்பாளர் வெங்கட் கே. நாராயணா, “இன்றைய மலையாள சினிமா உலகளவில் பேசப்படுகிறது. அந்த வரிசையில் ‘பாலன் த பாய்’ முக்கிய இடம் பெறும் என நம்புகிறோம்,” என்று தெரிவித்தார்.
மேலும், தெஸ்பியன் ஃபிலிம்ஸ் சார்பில் சைலஜா தேசாய் ஃபென், “ஒரு தரமான படைப்புடன் கேன்ஸ் மேடைக்கு திரும்ப வேண்டும் என்ற கனவு இன்று நனவாகியுள்ளது. இந்த படம் உலகம் முழுவதும் உள்ள ரசிகர்களைத் தொட்டுச் செல்லும்,” என்றார்.
சர்வதேச திரைப்பட வல்லுநர்கள் முன்னிலையில் நடைபெறவுள்ள இந்த திரையிடல், ‘பாலன் த பாய்’ திரைப்படத்திற்கு உலகளாவிய வெளியீட்டின் கதவுகளைத் திறக்கும் முக்கிய கட்டமாக பார்க்கப்படுகிறது. புதிய கதைகளையும் உணர்ச்சிகளையும் உலக மேடையில் கொண்டு செல்லும் மலையாள சினிமாவின் பயணத்தில், இந்தப் படம் மேலும் ஒரு முக்கிய அத்தியாயமாக அமைய வாய்ப்புள்ளது.
‘Balan the Boy’ Heads to Cannes: Manjummel Boys Director’s Next Goes Global
Following the massive success of Manjummel Boys, director Chidambaram is set to take his next film ‘Balan the Boy’ to the international stage. The film has now caught global attention and will be showcased at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film on May 14.
Produced by KVN Productions and Thespian Films, Balan the Boy explores a deeply emotional and universal narrative centered around identity, survival, and the bond between a mother and her child. The film is written by Jithu Madhavan and directed by Chidambaram, bringing together a compelling creative collaboration.
Speaking about the film, director Chidambaram said, “This film is about the unseen burdens we carry and the journey toward where we truly belong. I’ve tried to express emotions that words often fail to capture. It’s truly special for this film to find a platform like Cannes.”
