வேல்ஸ் ஃபிலிம் இன்டர்நேஷனல் லிமிடெட் நிறுவனம் மிகப்பெரிய பொருட்செலவில் தயாரிக்கும் இப்படத்தை டாக்டர் ஐசரி K கணேஷ் தயாரிக்க, அவரது மகள் குஷ்மிதா கணேஷ் இணை தயாரிப்பாளராக செயல்படுகிறார். ‘போர் தொழில்’ படத்தின் மூலம் கவனம் பெற்ற விக்னேஷ் ராஜா இயக்கும் இந்தப் படத்திற்கு, அல்ஃபிரட் பிரகாஷுடன் இணைந்து திரைக்கதை அமைத்துள்ளார்.
‘கரசாமி’ எனும் இளைஞனின் வாழ்க்கையில் நிகழும் சம்பவங்களை மையமாக வைத்து, காலகட்டத்தின் சமூக மனநிலையையும், மனித உறவுகளின் உணர்ச்சி ஆழத்தையும் இணைத்து சொல்லும் வகையில் கதை அமைந்துள்ளது. ஃபர்ஸ்ட் லுக் போஸ்டர், படத்தின் இருண்ட மனநிலையையும், திரில்லர் தன்மையையும் வெளிப்படுத்தும் வகையில் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
தனுஷுக்கு ஜோடியாக மமிதா பைஜு முதன்முறையாக இணைகிறார். இவர்களுடன் K.S. ரவிக்குமார், ஜெயராம், சுராஜ் வெஞ்சரமூடு, கருணாஸ், பிரித்விராஜன் உள்ளிட்ட பலர் முக்கிய வேடங்களில் நடித்துள்ளனர்.

இப்படத்திற்கு இசையமைப்பாளர் ஜி.வி. பிரகாஷ்குமார் இசையமைக்க, தேனி ஈஸ்வர் ஒளிப்பதிவு செய்கிறார். ஸ்ரீஜித் சாரங்க் எடிட்டிங் பணிகளை மேற்கொள்கிறார். தயாரிப்பு வடிவமைப்பில் மாயபாண்டி, உடை வடிவமைப்பில் தினேஷ் மனோகர் மற்றும் காவ்யா ஸ்ரீராம் பணியாற்றுகிறார்கள்.

வேல்ஸ் ஃபிலிம் இன்டர்நேஷனல் நிறுவனம் 2026-ம் ஆண்டுக்கான முக்கிய படங்களின் வரிசையில் ‘கர’ படத்தையும் சேர்த்துள்ளது. இப்படத்தின் இசை உரிமைகளை வேல்ஸ் மியூசிக் இன்டர்நேஷனல் கைப்பற்றியுள்ள நிலையில், OTT ஸ்ட்ரீமிங் உரிமைகள் Netflix-க்கு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
தற்போது இறுதிக்கட்ட பணிகளில் உள்ள ‘கர’ படத்தின் டீசர், டிரெய்லர் மற்றும் ஆடியோ வெளியீட்டு விவரங்கள் விரைவில் அறிவிக்கப்படும் என்றும், 2026 கோடை காலத்தில் திரையரங்குகளில் படம் வெளியாகும் என்றும் படக்குழு தெரிவித்தது.
Dhanush’s ‘Kara’ First Look Unveiled: An Emotionally Rooted Thriller Set in the 90s
The first look of “Kara”, starring National Award winner Dhanush and produced by Vels Film International Limited, has been officially released and is receiving an overwhelming response from fans and cinema lovers.
Produced on a massive scale by Vels Film International Limited, the film is backed by Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh as producer, with his daughter Kushmitha Ganesh serving as co-producer. Set in the 1990s, ‘Kara’ traces the journey of a young man named Karasaami and unfolds as an emotionally rooted thriller layered with mystery and suspense.
The film is directed by Vignesh Raja, who earlier delivered the blockbuster Por Thozhil. He has co-written the screenplay along with Alfred Prakash, continuing their successful collaboration.
The striking and innovatively designed first look offers a glimpse into the film’s scale, mood, and narrative depth, promising a gripping cinematic experience.
Kara features Mamitha Baiju opposite Dhanush in their first collaboration and boasts a strong supporting cast including K S Ravikumar, Jayaram, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunas, and Prithvi Rajan, among others.
With meticulous attention to detail, the film recreates the 1990s through carefully designed period sets and visuals. The project was shot over 80 days across Chennai, Ramanathapuram, and Kovilpatti.
The technical crew includes National Award winner G V Prakash Kumar as music composer, Theni Eswar as cinematographer, Sreejith Sarang as editor, Mayapandi as production designer, and Dinesh Manohar and Kavya Sriram handling costume design.
Producer Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh says “Kara is shaping up to be a standout cinematic experience”. After watching the rough cut, he expressed strong confidence in the film’s emotional resonance and technical brilliance, noting that the performances of all the artistes are exceptional and add significant depth to the narrative. He added that Kara possesses all the elements required to strike a powerful chord with audiences and leave a lasting impression.
On the production front, Vels Film International Limited continues to build an impressive slate for 2026, with Mookuthi Amman 2 starring Nayanthara which is in the post- production phase along with Dayangaram starring VJ Siddhu and UNKILL_123 starring Anurag Kashyap currently under production.
Additionally, Label Vels Music International will hold all music rights for Kara, further enhancing the film’s commercial strength and promotional reach.
Currently in the final stages of post-production, the makers will announce details of the teaser, trailer, and audio launch soon. Kara is slated for a summer 2026 release, with Netflix having acquired the film’s OTT streaming rights.
