“சினிமா என்பது வெறும் காட்சிகளின் தொடர் அல்ல; அது காலத்தைப் பதியும் ஒரு கலை.”இயக்குநர் கௌதம் வாசுதேவ் மேனன், திரையுலகில் தனது 25 ஆண்டுகால பயணத்தை நினைவு கூர்ந்து நெகிழ்ச்சியான பதிவு ஒன்றை பகிர்ந்துள்ளார்.

முதன்முறையாக “ஆக்ஷன்” என்று கூறிய அந்த நாளிலிருந்து இன்றுவரை கடந்த காலம், தன்னை எவ்வளவு மாற்றியது என்பதைவிட, அந்த காலம் தந்த அனுபவங்களும் நினைவுகளுமே பெரிதென அவர் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.
இந்த 25 ஆண்டுகால சாதனை தனக்கே உரியதல்ல என்றும், தன்னுடன் இணைந்து பயணித்த கலைஞர்கள், தொழில்நுட்பக் கலைஞர்கள், வழிகாட்டிகள், சக இயக்குநர்கள் என அனைவரின் கனவுகளும் உழைப்பும் சேர்ந்தே இது உருவானதாகவும் அவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

தன் கதாபாத்திரங்களுக்கு உயிரூட்டி., திரையில் உணர்வுகளை விதைத்த நடிகர்களுக்கு அவர் சிறப்பு நன்றி தெரிவித்தார். “என் எழுத்துகளுக்கு நான் நினைக்காத ஆழத்தையும் உயிரையும் கொடுத்தவர்கள் நடிகர்களே” என அவர் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.

அதேபோல், இருபத்திஐந்து ஆண்டுகளாக கேமராவின் பின்னால் நின்று தனது கனவுகளுக்கு வடிவம் கொடுத்த தொழில்நுட்பக் குழுவினருக்கும் அவர் மனமார்ந்த நன்றியை தெரிவித்தார். “சினிமாவுக்கான ஒரே காதல்தான் நம்மை இத்தனை ஆண்டுகள் இணைத்து வைத்துள்ளது” என்றார்.
தன்னை உருவாக்கிய சினிமா மாபெருமக்களையும், ஆரம்ப காலத்தில் வழிகாட்டிய ஆசான்களையும் நினைவு கூர்ந்த அவர், தன் சமகால இயக்குநர்களின் படைப்புகள் தினமும் தன்னை ஊக்குவிப்பதாகவும் தெரிவித்தார்.

இறுதியாக, தன் ரசிகர்களுக்கும் பார்வையாளர்களுக்கும் நன்றி தெரிவித்த கௌதம் வாசுதேவ் மேனன், “என் கதைகளை உங்கள் வாழ்க்கையின் ஒரு பகுதியாக மாற்றியதே எனக்குக் கிடைத்த மிகப்பெரிய அங்கீகாரம்” என்றார்.

சமீபத்தில் நடைபெற்ற “யென்னோடு வா வீடு வரைக்கும்” இசைக் கச்சேரி, சினிமா மீது தன் காதலை மீண்டும் நினைவூட்டிய ஒரு மறக்க முடியாத அனுபவமாக இருந்ததாகவும் அவர் கூறினார்.
“சினிமாவுடனான என் பயணம் இன்னும் தொடர்கிறது. அடுத்த காட்சிக்கான தயாரிப்பு தொடங்கிவிட்டது” என்று நம்பிக்கையுடன் அவர் தனது பதிவை முடித்துள்ளார்.

Filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon has shared a heartfelt note reflecting on his 25-year journey in the film industry.

Recalling the moment he first called out “Action,” Menon says that what overwhelms him today is not the passage of time, but the richness of experiences and memories that the years have given him.

He emphasized that this milestone is not an individual achievement, but a collective one—shaped by the dreams, dedication, and hard work of countless artistes and technicians who have walked alongside him throughout his career.

Expressing special gratitude to actors, Menon noted that they gave life, depth, and emotional truth to the characters he imagined. “They discovered layers in my characters that even I hadn’t fully seen,” he said.
He also thanked his technical crew, who have stood behind the camera for over two decades, helping translate his imagination onto the screen. Their shared passion for cinema, he said, has been the bond that kept them together through the years.

Menon fondly remembered the legendary filmmakers who inspired him and the mentors who guided his early steps, while also acknowledging his contemporaries and fellow directors, whose work continues to challenge and motivate him.

Concluding his message, he expressed his gratitude to audiences for embracing his stories and characters and allowing them to become part of their lives. “That acceptance is the greatest reward a filmmaker can receive,” he said.

Referring to the recent Yennodu Vaa Veedu Varaikkum concert, Menon described the event as a deeply moving experience that reminded him why he chose cinema as his life’s calling.
“My journey with cinema continues. The next frame is already waiting,” he concluded.
