LIGHTZ ÖN AWARDS Sets a Record in Chennai
Chennai: The Lightz On Awards has achieved a remarkable milestone by honouring over 100 short film directors over the years. Now in its 7th consecutive edition, the awards continue to celebrate emerging creative talent in the Tamil short film industry.
The event was graced by several notable personalities from Tamil cinema, including director R. Ravikumar (Ayalaan, Indru Netru Naalai), director K.G. Balasubramani (Black), director Vishal Venkat (Bomb, Sila Nerangalil Sila Manidhargal), director Dharani Rajendran (Yaathisai), actor Vinoth Kishan, actor-director Ananth Ram (Nanban Oruvan Vandha Piragu), and PRO Nikil Murukan, who collectively presented the awards and congratulated the winners.
Over the years, Lightz On Awards has been instrumental in identifying and nurturing several promising filmmakers. The platform has become a stepping stone for passionate young talents aspiring to enter the Tamil film industry.
This year’s ceremony also saw two women short-film directors winning accolades, a sign of the growing diversity in the field. Additionally, Muran, a short film from the United Kingdom, was specially recognised for its outstanding direction and storytelling.
Adding to its list of accomplishments, the Lightz On YouTube Channel proudly holds the distinction of being the first digital platform dedicated entirely to short film directors, continuing its mission to spotlight emerging voices in cinema.
