சமூக அக்கறையுடன் செயல்பட்டு வரும் நடிகர் சௌந்தரராஜா, தனது “மண்ணுக்கும் மக்களுக்கும் அறக்கட்டளை” மூலம் கடந்த பல ஆண்டுகளாக இயற்கை வளங்கள் பாதுகாப்பு, சுற்றுச்சூழல் மேம்பாடு மற்றும் விவசாய முன்னேற்றம் உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு மக்கள் நலப் பணிகளில் தொடர்ந்து ஈடுபட்டு வருகிறார். மரக்கன்றுகள் நடுதல், நீர்நிலைகள் சீரமைத்தல், தூய்மை பணிகள் மேற்கொள்ளுதல் போன்ற நடவடிக்கைகள் மூலம் சமூகத்தில் விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்தி வருகிறார்.

இது குறித்து பேசிய நடிகர் சௌந்தரராஜா, “மரங்களை நட்டுவிடுவது மட்டுமே சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதுகாப்பு அல்ல. அவை வளர்ந்து நிழல் தரும் வரை பராமரிப்பதும் நமது கடமையாகும். இன்று காலநிலை மாற்றம் உலகம் முழுவதும் பெரும் சவாலாக மாறியுள்ளது. இயற்கையை பாதுகாக்கும் பணியில் அரசு மட்டுமல்ல, பொதுமக்களும் நேரடியாக பங்கேற்க வேண்டும். சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதுகாப்பு என்பது நம் எதிர்கால சந்ததியினருக்கான முதலீடாகும்” என்று தெரிவித்தார்.

Protecting the environment is not solely the responsibility of the government; it must become a way of life for every citizen, emphasized actor Soundararaja.

Known for his strong commitment to social causes, Soundararaja has been actively involved in environmental conservation, sustainable agriculture, and community welfare initiatives through his “Mannukkum Makkalukkum Foundation” for several years. The foundation has been carrying out a range of impactful activities, including tree plantation drives, restoration of lakes and ponds, cleanliness campaigns, and environmental awareness programs.

To mark World Environment Day, the foundation undertook a special initiative over the past two weeks to water and maintain roadside trees in the Vadapalani and Virugambakkam areas of Chennai. The effort aimed to protect young trees from the harsh summer heat and ensure their healthy growth, earning appreciation from local residents.

Speaking about the initiative, Soundararaja said, “Environmental protection does not end with planting saplings. Our responsibility continues until those trees grow strong enough to provide shade and sustain life. Today, climate change has become a major global challenge. Preserving nature requires active participation not only from governments but also from every individual. Protecting the environment is an investment in the future of coming generations.”

Several members and volunteers of the foundation enthusiastically participated in the tree-care campaign, contributing their time and efforts to the cause.
