
R. Madhavan Lauds Varun Gupta for Championing Intelligent fresh Cinema in Theatres
Acclaimed actor R. Madhavan took to social media to share his excitement for the upcoming black-comedy thriller Lord Curzon Ki Haveli, directed by Anshuman Jha. In his Instagram story, Madhavan urged followers to “check this out folks!!!” while congratulating Varun Gupta, founder of MAX Marketing, for deciding to bring the film to theatres. Madhavan praised Gupta for backing independent, intelligent cinema and ensuring it gets a proper theatrical release, considering the demand for such efforts help keep the diversity of movies alive on the big screen.
In his post, Madhavan applauded the team’s confidence in audience intelligence, calling the film “Hitchcockian, intriguing, and intellectually rewarding.” He commended Gupta for his vision in presenting a project that “does not take the audience’s intellect for granted.”
The actor further praised the ensemble cast – Arjun Mathur, Rasika Dugal, Paresh Pahuja, and Tanmay Dhanania – alongside director Anshuman Jha and writer Bikas Mishra. The story unfolds over a single evening, AT a dinner gathering of four people of South Asian origin in London. The thriller rolls with a shocking declaration – “there is a dead body in the trunk.” What begins with jest gradually drags them into an unpredictable web of secrets and bizarre revelations.

Set in the UK and inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s visual grammar, Lord Curzon Ki Haveli is described as a darkly comic psychological thriller about four South Asians at a dinner that spirals into a night of secrets and suspense.
The film premiered internationally to acclaim and will release in Indian theatres on 10 October 2025.
