சென்னை பல்லாவரத்தில் உள்ள வேல்ஸ் பல்கலைக்கழகம் தனது சட்டபள்ளியின் பத்தாம் ஆண்டு நிறைவு விழாவை வெகு விமரிசையாக கொண்டாடியது.
பல்லாவரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள வேல்ஸ் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் சட்டப் பள்ளியின் பத்தாவது ஆண்டு நிறைவு விழா பல்கலைக்கழக வளாகத்தில் இன்று 20/09/2025 நடைபெற்றது.
தலைமை விருந்தினராக மாண்புமிகு உச்சநீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி. திரு என். கோட்டீஷ்வர்சிங் , கெளரவ விருந்தினராக மாண்புமிகு உச்ச நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி. திரு.ஆர்.மகாதேவன் மற்றும் சென்னை உயர்நீதிமன்ற தலைமை நீதிபதி திரு.மணிந்திர மோகன் ஸ்ரீவஸ்தவா அவர்கள் சிறப்பு விருந்தினராகவும் கலந்துகொண்டு சிறப்பித்தனர். மாண்புமிகு சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி திரு. எம். நிர்மல் குமார், மாண்புமிகு சென்னை உயர்நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி திரு. ஜி.கே. இளந்திரையன், மாண்புமிகு சென்னை உயர்நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி. திரு.டி.பரத சக்கரவர்த்தி, மாண்புமிகு சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி திருமதி.ஆர்.கலைமதி ஆகியோர் சிறப்பு விருந்தினர்களாகக் கலந்து கொண்டு விழாவை சிறப்பித்தனர்.
இவ்விழாவில் தமிழ்நாடு மற்றும் புதுச்சேரி பார் கவுன்சிலின் தலைவர் திரு. எம் .எஸ். அமல்ராஜ் அவர்களும் முன்னாள் இந்திய சட்ட ஆணைய உறுப்பினரும் பேராசிரியருமான முனைவர் எஸ். சிவக்குமார் அவர்களும் சிறப்பு விருந்தினர்களாக கலந்து கொண்டனர் .
வேல்ஸ் பல்கலைக் கழகத்தின் துணைத் தலைவர் . முனைவர். ப்ரீத்தா கணேஷ் அவர்களை மாண்புமிகு உச்ச நீதிமன்ற , உயர் நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதிகளையும் மதிப்பிற்குரிய சிறப்பு மற்றும் கெளரவ விருந்தினர்களையும் மற்றும் விழா ஏற்பாட்டாளர்களையும் வாழ்த்தி வரவேற்புரை அளித்தார். அதனை தொடர்ந்து வேல்ஸ் சட்டப்பள்ளியின் முதல்வர் முனைவர் பேராசிரியர் எஸ். அம்பிகா குமாரி அவர்கள் வேல்ஸ் சட்டப்பள்ளியின் பத்தாண்டு கால சாதனைகளையும், மாணவர்களின் பன்முகத்திறன்களையும், வேல்ஸ் சட்டப்பள்ளியின் சட்ட ஆராயச்சிகளையும் இன்னும் பிற சாதனைகளையும் குறித்த அறிக்கையை வாசித்தார்.
பின்னர் வேல்ஸ் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் வேந்தர் டாக்டர்.ஐசரி.கே.கணேஷ் அவர்கள் தலைமை உரையை அளித்தார். அதில் அவர் பத்தாண்டு சட்டப்பள்ளியின் நிறைவை குறித்து பெருமிதம் தெரிவித்ததோடு அவர் கடந்து வந்த பாதை மற்றும் அனுபவங்களை மாணவர்களுக்கு கூறி அவர்களை ஊக்குவித்ததோடு சட்டப்பள்ளியின் முதல்வர் மற்றும் பேராசியர்களுக்கு வாழ்த்துக்களையும், மகிழ்ச்சியையும் தெரிவித்தார்.
கௌர விருந்தினரான மாண்பு மிகு உயர்நீதிமன்ற தலைமை நீதிபதி. திரு.மணிந்திர மோகன் ஶ்ரீவஸ்தவா அவர்கள் அளித்த உரையில் வேல்ஸ் சட்டப் பள்ளி முதல்வரின் மாணவர்கள் உயர் நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதிகளாகவும் திறமையான வழக்கறிஞர்களாகவும் இருப்பதை குறித்து பெருமிதம் தெரிவித்ததோடு சட்டத்தின் ஆட்சி (Rule of Law) குறித்து பேசி சட்டக்கல்வியின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை குறித்து விவரித்துப் பேசினார். மேலும் சட்டப் பேராசியர்கள் வழக்காடும் பணிகளை விடுத்து கற்றுக் கொடுக்கும் பணியை செய்வதால் அவர்கள் சமூகத்திற்கு சேவை செய்வதாக அவர்களைப் பாராட்டியதோடு வழக்கறிஞர் தொழில் பணம் ஈட்டுவதற்கான தொழில் அல்ல. அது சமூகத்திற்கு சேவையாற்றும் ஒரு தொழில் என்பதை தெளிவாக வலியுறுத்தினார்
மாண்புமிகு உச்ச நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி . ஆர். மகாதேவன் அவர்கள் அளித்த உரையில் வேல்ஸ் பல்கலைக் கழக சட்டப் பள்ளியின் ஐசரி வேலன் மாதிரி நீதிமன்ற போட்டிகளினால் பல்வேறு உயர் நீதிமன்ற உச்ச நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதிகளின் ஈர்ப்பை பெற்றதால் வேல்ஸ் சட்டப் பள்ளியின் சாதனைகள் பத்தாண்டுகளில் இத்துனை வளர்ச்சி பெற்றது வியப்பிற்குறியது என்றும் உலகத்தின் ஆகச்சிறந்த கல்விதுறை சட்டத்துறை எனவே அத்துறையை தேர்ந்தெடுத்த மாணவர்களுக்கு வாழ்த்துகளை தெரிவித்தார். துறை சார்ந்த நாட்டம் துறை சார்பந்த அறிவு உங்களை வாழ்வின் அடுத்த கணத்திற்கு அழைத்துச் செல்லும் என்று கூறி வாழ்த்துக் கூறினார்.
இவ்விழாவில் தலைமை விருந்தினராக கலந்து கொண்ட மாண்புமிகு உச்சநீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி. திரு என். கோட்டீஷ்வர்சிங் அளித்த விழாபேருரையில் வேல்ஸ் பல்கலைக்கழக சாதனைகளை வாழ்த்தி, மாணவர்ளுக்கு திறம்பட சட்டக் கல்வியை வழங்கியதற்காக நிறுவனத்தை பாராட்டினார். சட்டம் என்பது வெறுமனே பட்டம் பெறுவது மட்டும் அல்ல சட்டத்தின் ஆளுமை பற்றிய ஆழ்ந்த அறிவை பெறுவதே சட்டக்கல்வியின் உயரிய நோக்கம் என்று வலியுறுத்தினார். விடாமுயற்சி, கடினஉழைப்பு, அர்ப்பணிப்பு, ஒழுக்கம் , நிலைப்புத் தன்மை இக்கால வழக்கறிஞர்களுக்குத் தேவையான முக்கிய மதிப்பீடுகள் என்று தெரிவித்தார். வழக்கறிஞர்களுக்காக காத்திருக்கும் புதிய வேலை வாய்ப்புகளைக் குறித்து எடுத்துரைத்தார். மேலும் மாணவர்கள் நவீன செயற்கை நுண்ணறிவை திறம்பட பயன்படுத்த தெரிந்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்றும் கூறினார். இந்திய அரசியல் சாசனம் அனைத்துப் பிரச்சனைகளைத் தீர்ப்பதற்கான கருவூலமாக இருக்கிறது என்றும் நீதிபரிபாலனை சமத்துவம், சதோதரத்துவம், நீதிநெறி என்பதே பல வேறுபாடுகளை கடந்து அனைவரையும் ஒன்றினைக்கும் சக்தியாகத் திகழ்கிறது என்று கூறினார் . அதேபோல கீழடி நாகரீகம் அதன் தொன்மை ஆகியவற்றையும் தமிழ் மன்னர்களான சோழர்களின் கடற்படை மற்றும் கிழக்காசிய நாடுகளை கைப்பற்றிய வீரம் தென்மேற்கு மற்றும் வடகிழக்கு காற்றின் வேகத்திற்கு ஏற்ப கப்பல்களை இயக்கி இயற்கையோடு இயைந்த அறிவு ஆகியவற்றை எண்ணி பெருமிதம் கொள்வதாக தெரிவித்தார்.
இவ்விழாவில் திருமதி. புஷ்பா ஐசரி வேலன் தமிழ் வழக்குவாதுரைப் போட்டியில் வெற்றிப் பெற்ற திருப்பூர் கே.எம்.எல் சட்டப்பள்ளி மாணவர்களுக்கும் இரண்டாம் இடத்தை வென்ற சேலம் சென்ட்ரல் சட்டக்கல்லூரி மாணவர்களை பாராட்டி கோப்பைகள், பதக்கங்கள்,பாராட்டுச் சான்றிதழ்கள் சிறப்பு விருந்தினர்களால் வழங்கப்பட்டது. மேலும் சிறந்த வாதுரைக்கான பரிசை எஸ்.ஆர்.எம் சட்டப்பள்ளியும். சிறந்த பேச்சாளருக்கான விருதை காரைக்குடி அரசு சட்டக்கல்லூரியை சேர்ந்த மாணவர் மொஹமத் ரிஜ்வானும் பெற்றனர் .
முன்னாள் மாணவர்களை கௌரவிக்கும் வகையில் பல்வேறு விருதுகளும் வழங்கப்பட்டன. விழாவின் நிறைவாக வேல்ஸ் பல்கலைக்கழத்தின் துணை வேந்தர் முனைவர் எம் .பாஸ்கரன் அவர்கள் நன்றி உரை அளித்ததை தொடர்ந்து விழா இனிதே நிறைவுற்றது.அதனை தொடர்ந்து மாணவர்களுக்கான மதிய உணவு பரிமாறப்பட்டது.
வேல்ஸ் பல்கலைக்கழகம்
சென்னை வேல்ஸ் இன்ஸ்டிடியூட் ஆஃப் சயின்ஸ், டெக்னாலஜி அண்ட் அட்வான்ஸ்டு ஸ்டடீஸ் (VISTAS), 2008 ஆம் ஆண்டு இந்திய அரசின் மனிதவள மேம்பாட்டு அமைச்சகத்தால் (MHRD) பல்கலைக்கழக அந்தஸ்து பெற்றது. VAELS அறக்கட்டளையின் கீழ் இயங்கும் இப் பல்கலைக்கழகம், 100க்கும் மேற்பட்ட இளநிலைபடிப்பு, முதுகலை மற்றும் முனைவர் பட்டப் படிப்புகளை வழங்குகிறது.
மருத்துவம், பொறியியல், நர்சிங், மருந்தியல், சட்டம், வர்த்தகம், ஊடகம், கல்வி, கடல்சார் கல்வி, கணினி அறிவியல் போன்ற துறைகளில் பட்டப்படிப்புகளை வழங்குகிறது. UGC, AICTE, NMC, INC, PCI, BCI, DGS, NCTE போன்ற அமைப்புகளால் அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்ட இப் பல்கலைக்கழகம் தற்போது 18,000க்கும் மேற்பட்ட மாணவர்களையும் 1,100 பேராசிரியர்களையும் கொண்டுள்ளது. NAAC A++ தரச் சான்றிதழ் பெற்ற இப் பல்கலைக்கழகம், 11 NBA அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்ட பாடப்பிரிவுகளை வழங்கி, UGC 12(B) அந்தஸ்தைப் பெற்றுள்ளது. 2024 ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கான NIRF தரவரிசையில் 101–150 இடம் பிடித்ததுடன், மருந்தியல் துறை 61வது இடத்தை பெற்றுள்ளது.
வேல்ஸ் சட்டப்பள்ளி – குறிப்பு
2015ஆம் ஆண்டு தொடங்கப்பட்ட வேல்ஸ் சட்டப்பள்ளி, மேல்நிலைப்பள்ளி மற்றும் இளங்கலை பட்டம் முடித்த மாணவர்களுக்கு ஒருங்கிணைந்த 5 ஆண்டு மற்றும் 3 ஆண்டு சட்டப் படிப்புகளை வழங்கி வருகிறது. அரசியலமைப்பு, கார்ப்பரேட் சட்டம், தொழிலாளர் சட்டம், குற்றவியல் சட்டம், அறிவுசார் சொத்துரிமை, சைபர் சட்டம், வரிவிதிப்புச் சட்டம் ஆகிய ஏழு பிரிவுகளில் LL.B, LL.M பாடப்பிரிவுகளும், சட்டத்தில் Ph.D. பட்டப் படிப்பும் நடத்தப்படுகிறது.
இந்த பத்து ஆண்டுகளில், சுமார் 2500 மாணவர்கள் மற்றும் 85 பேராசிரியர்கள் இணைந்து கல்வி கற்கும் முன்னணி சட்டக் கல்வி மையமாக வளர்ந்துள்ளது. மாதிரி நீதிமன்றங்கள், சட்ட விழிப்புணர்வு முகாம்கள், இலவச சட்ட உதவி சேவைகள், தேசிய-சர்வதேச கருத்தரங்குகள் மற்றும் வேலைவாய்ப்பு முகாம்கள் மூலம் மாணவர்கள் பயிற்சி பெறுகின்றனர்.
சமூக பங்களிப்பு, உலகளாவிய பார்வை, புதுமையான பாடத்திட்டம் ஆகியவற்றின் மூலம் மாணவர்கள் திறமையான வழக்கறிஞர்கள் மற்றும் சமூகப் பொறுப்புள்ள குடிமக்களாக உருவாகும் வகையில் சட்டப்பள்ளி முன்னோடி பங்களிப்பை வழங்கி வருகிறது.

The School of Law, VELS University, Chennai, celebrated its 10th anniversary on 20th September 2025 with a pomp and grandeur today at the university campus.
The celebration was graced by the Hon’ble Justice N. Kotiswar Singh of the Supreme Court of India as the Chief Guest. The event was further honored by the presence of Hon’ble Mr. Justice R. Mahadevan, also of the Supreme Court, as Guest of Honour, and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Manindra Mohan Srivastava, Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, as Distinguished Guest.
Several esteemed judges of the Madras High Court — Hon’ble Mr. Justice M. Nirmal Kumar, Hon’ble Mr. Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan, Hon’ble Mr. Justice D. Bharatha Chakravarthy, and Hon’ble Mrs. Justice R. Kalaimathi — also attended and graced the occasion as Special Guests,
The event was further enriched by the presence of Mr. M.S. Amalraj, Chairman of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, and Dr. S. Sivakumar, former Member of the Law Commission of India.
The celebration commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Preetha Ganesh, Vice President, Vels Group of Institution. Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh, Chancellor of VELS University, felicitated the Hon’ble Judges, dignitaries, and guests. This was followed by a comprehensive report from Dr. Prof. S. Ambika Kumari, Dean of the School of Law, highlighting the school’s decade-long achievements, the multifaceted talents of its students, notable legal research contributions, and various other milestones.
Delivering the Presidential Address, Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh, Founder and Chancellor of VELS University, expressed his pride in the remarkable journey of the School of Law. He offered motivational insights on overcoming challenges and transforming them into triumphs. The Chancellor encouraged students and congratulated the Dean and faculty for their unwavering commitment and accomplishments.
Mr. S. Prabhakaran, Vice Chairman of the Bar Council of India, lauded the rapid growth and achievements of the School of Law and commended the Chancellor’s vision. He noted that the school, which began with just 90 students, now has over 2,000 students registered as advocates with the Bar Council—a matter of pride and significance.
In her address, Hon’ble Mrs. Justice R. Kalaimathi praised the school’s accomplishments and extended her heartfelt wishes. Hon’ble Justice D. Bharatha Chakravarthy congratulated the Chancellor and faculty, emphasizing the increasing relevance of legal education in modern society—particularly the importance of mediation and arbitration in contemporary legal practice.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice M. Nirmal Kumar commended the School of Law and highlighted the nobility of legal education and the qualities expected of future advocates. His insights deeply resonated with the student audience.
Hon’ble Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Srivastava, addressing the gathering as Guest of Honour, expressed pride in the School’s growth and noted that some of its alumni had risen to the bench as High Court Judges and established themselves as able advocates. He emphasized the vital role of the Rule of Law, the transformative power of legal education, and praised the dedication of law professors, who he described as performing an act of social service. The Chief Justice reminded students that the legal profession is not merely a means of livelihood but, a service to society.
About VISTAS
VELS Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS) was conferred university status in 2008 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. Operating under the VELS Foundation, the university offers more than 100 undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs.

VELS School of Law
VELS School of Law was established in 2015. It offers five-year integrated law programs for students who have completed higher secondary education, including: B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) – Arts and Law, B.Com., LL.B. (Hons.) – Commerce and Law and BBA, LL.B. (Hons.) – Business Administration and Law. It also offers a three-year LL.B. program for graduates, and LL.M. programs in seven specializations: Constitutional and Administrative Law, Corporate and Business Law, Labour and Administrative Law, Criminal Law and Criminal Justice Administration, Intellectual Property Rights Law, Cyber Law and Taxation Law.
These programs are designed to help students choose the right specialization based on the eligibility criteria set by the Bar Council of India and the UGC. Additionally, the school offers a Ph.D. program in Law.
Committed to excellence, the school follows the Bar Council of India’s guidelines, combining practical training modules and a well-structured curriculum to prepare students to become skilled advocates. Moot courts are regularly conducted to enhance hands-on learning. The institution not only provides high-quality, innovative legal education but also contributes strongly to social justice, interdisciplinary research, and global perspectives.
Various assessment activities are designed to help students develop problem-solving, communication, and advocacy skills. Internationally focused elective courses are also offered, preparing students for careers in the global legal services sector. The diverse student body further enriches the learning environment.
Over the past decade, VELS School of Law has grown steadily and now has more than 2,500 students. Prof. Dr. S. Ambika Kumari serves as the Dean, supported by five Heads of Department and approximately 85 faculty members.
The law school actively engages in community service by conducting free Legal Aid camps for tribal and underprivileged communities. Faculty and students travel to various parts of the state to organize legal seminars, awareness rallies, and actively participate in national and international conferences related to law.
Courtroom training is systematically provided every semester, and national as well as international campus recruitment drives are conducted for the benefit of students. Eminent lawyers from the Supreme Court and High Courts have participated in major events and moot court competitions, further enhancing the prestige of VELS School of Law.
