Mumbai, India- 25 June, 2025: Comedian-turned-actor Munawar Faruqui, who recently made his scripted series debut with Amazon’s free streaming service, Amazon MX Player’s latest series First Copy, has taken a totally unexpected and totally hilarious route to promote the series. In classic Munawar style, he turned to his friends from the entertainment world and let’s just say, it didn’t go quite as planned!
In the now-viral video released on his YouTube channel, Munawar is seen frantically calling celebrities like Farah Khan, Samay Raina, and Ranveer Allahbadia, only to be met with silence. No one picks up his calls, leaving him more confused than ever. Not one to give up, he drops in on podcast host Raj Shamani to ask for advice, only to get flooded with complex branding jargon that leaves him blank-faced. His next stop? Dancer duo Piyush and Shazia’s studio, where he attempts and ultimately fails to master a complicated hook step for the First Copy Anthem. In typical Munawar fashion, he throws his hands up and says he wants something more “Indian, just like Amazon MX Player, jo India mein free hai.”
The absurdity continues as he lands up at Tony Kakkar’s space for a musical collaboration, only to be told to buy a black-and-white TV for creative inspiration. Eventually, Farah Khan finally answers his call, and what follows is a laugh-out-loud skit where the two improvise an entire conversation around the words “First Copy.” If that wasn’t enough, Samay Raina comes up with ideas that are so “out of the box” they belong in another universe.
The entire video is a whirlwind of missed calls, misadventures, and misfired plans, basically, peak Munawar. Fans have been loving every second of it, calling it “the funniest crossover ever,” “the most Munawar way to do marketing,” and “proof that you don’t need a full-blown ad campaign when you’ve got personality and perfect comic timing.”
