Every scam has a face, every victim has a story, and behind every crime lies a battle between right and wrong. Scam 2024 – The Digital Arrest Story, streaming on Story TV, brings the world of digital arrest scams to life through three characters who represent different sides of the crime. Starring Vidya Malavade as Priya Sharma, Pratik Sehajpal as Vicky Mandal, and Vineet Raina as Raj Thakur, the series explores the devastating impact of digital fraud, the people behind these crimes, and the fight to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Vineet Raina plays Raj Thakur, a suspended police officer who continues to fight against the scam network while working within the boundaries of the law. His character brings another dimension to the story, highlighting the challenges of seeking justice in a system that has its own loopholes. Alongside Priya Sharma, a woman who finds the courage to fight back after losing her money to a digital arrest scam, Raj becomes part of a story about resilience, trust and the determination to stand up against cybercrime.
Speaking about what drew him to the project, Vineet Raina shared, “Along with great storytelling, there is also a strong social message. With AI and everything else, digital scammers have increased significantly, and people are falling victim to digital arrest scams. Along with telling a very good story, we are trying to tell people that the individuals behind these scams are extremely cunning, dangerous and intelligent. In Scam 2024 – The Digital Arrest Story, Pratik plays the role of a scammer. The story shows how these scammers digitally arrest people and take away their entire life savings. Story TV’s initiative is to make people aware of this through a very good story. It is something I couldn’t resist saying yes to.”
Explaining why the story’s message is particularly important, Vineet added, “Often, people who get scammed believe that it happened because they were not smart enough. But that is not always the case. Scammers are extremely sharp, intelligent and skilled. They know how to emotionally blackmail people, trap them and get them to share their OTPs and other details. There are also several loopholes in our system and laws that allow these people to escape. Through this story, we are trying to show how a woman gets scammed, loses all her money, but still finds the courage to trust the system and the police. At times, even police officers are unable to carry out their work freely.”
Talking about Raj Thakur and the message the series hopes to convey, Vineet further shared, “You will see how my character works without breaking the law, but within its boundaries, alongside a very courageous woman. These are the kind of women we need today. The story shows how she works with the police to trap the scammers and recover her money. It carries a positive message about how to stay calm and think clearly when faced with a scam.”
Through Raj Thakur’s journey, Scam 2024 – The Digital Arrest Story goes beyond a crime thriller to highlight the importance of digital awareness, the courage to seek justice and the need to remain calm when faced with online fraud. The series also serves as a reminder that falling victim to a scam does not mean a person is not smart enough, and that awareness, trust in the system and the right support can make a difference.
