“I’ve portrayed strong characters before, but…”: Kavita Kaushik reveals what drew her to Amazon MX Player’s Kaptaan

Talking about what drew her to her character, Kavita Kaushik shared, “When I was approached for Kaptaan, what truly drew me in was the negative shade of my character. I’ve portrayed strong characters before, but this one required me to explore darker, funnier, and more layered shades. It was challenging to balance intensity with subtlety and to understand the character’s motivations without making them one-dimensional. As an actor, that process pushed me out of my comfort zone.”
Reflecting on the pace and energy of the shoot, she adds, “One word that truly captures the spirit of working on Kaptaan for me is speed. The pace of the shoot was phenomenal. I don’t think I’ve ever filmed my scenes faster on any project before. What’s remarkable is that this rush never felt chaotic. There was a clarity and preparedness behind every day on set that kept things running efficiently. The energy was simply infectious. It pushed the entire cast and crew to stay instinctive and completely present in every moment.”
