There Is No Rulebook for Love… Netflix’s ‘#Love’ Explores Relationships of the New Generation

Chennai:
Love is a different experience for everyone. As times change, the way people approach love and their expectations from relationships also evolve. Exploring these changes through a contemporary lens, Netflix’s new Original series ‘#Love’ delves into the love, emotions and relationships of today’s younger generation.

At the series’ launch event held in Chennai, members of the cast and crew came together to share insights into the making of the series and its characters. The Netflix team also spoke about the growing global appreciation for stories originating in South Indian languages, including Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

Speaking about the series, producer and showrunner Aishwarya Rajinikanth said that Netflix’s trust in her story came with a great sense of responsibility. She added that the responsibility also made the experience of taking the project forward and bringing it to completion a fulfilling one.

Director Balaji Mohan, speaking about his continued interest in creating stories centred around love, said, “I still don’t completely understand love myself. The understanding between a man and a woman is an ongoing journey. That is why love will always remain interesting.”

Aishwarya, who plays the character of Tara in the series, revealed that the role felt very close to her. Since some of Tara’s traits are similar to her own personality, she said there were moments when she did not even feel like she was acting.

The pairing of Arjun and Aishwarya is also among the major expectations surrounding the series. The two actors had previously been set to work together in a film, but the project did not materialise.

During an engaging conversation titled “Chemistry vs Compatibility” at the event, Arjun and Aishwarya shared their views on relationships and agreed that both chemistry and compatibility are essential in love.

Rather than approaching romance through conventional cinematic tropes, ‘#Love’ aims to present the emotions, relationships and expectations of today’s generation in a way that feels grounded in real life.
