Tamannaah Bhatia’s red eyes in The Vvaan teaser spark a mystery — What is really happening to her character?
For most of the The Vvaan teaser, Tamannaah Bhatia appears as Mamta, Sidharth Malhotra’s wife, a character who is about faith and rituals of her world. But then comes that glimpse: Tamannaah with striking red eyes, and suddenly, the character we’ve been introduced to doesn’t look quite as simple as she first seemed.
It is easily one of the teaser’s most intriguing images because the film has already established that Vvaan is not an ordinary forest. It is a space protected by an ancient, goddess-like force, one that appears to blur the line between the divine and the supernatural. Tamannaah’s character, meanwhile, is shown performing Chhath Puja, placing her firmly within the film’s rooted world of faith and tradition.
So here’s where the theory gets interesting: is Mamta simply caught in Vvaan’s supernatural battle or does she have a deeper connection to the force itself?
The teaser appears to suggest that the supernatural presence doesn’t remain confined to the forbidden forest. It reaches Sidharth’s world, and Tamannaah’s character seems to become one of its most important points of contact. That makes those red eyes particularly loaded. Are they a sign of possession? A manifestation of the forest’s power? Or could Mamta herself be connected to the mythology in a way the teaser is deliberately refusing to reveal?
There is also something fascinating about the contrast. Sidharth’s character is the rational outsider drawn towards a world he doesn’t fully understand, while Mamta is established as someone with a strong belief in God. That makes her relationship with the supernatural potentially far more complicated than a straightforward “wife gets possessed” storyline.
The makers are keeping the details tightly under wraps, but the imagery suggests Tamannaah’s character could be central to the film’s larger mystery.
Perhaps the biggest question isn’t what happens to Mamta inside Vvaan but whether Vvaan was already inside her.
Backed by some of the country’s most distinctive storytellers, The Vvaan brings together TVF’s Arunabh Kumar, director Deepak Mishra and Ektaa Kapoor for a commercial film that attempts to take Indian folklore into a new cinematic space. While its world is rooted in folklore and fantasy, the film brings together adventure, mystery and humour to shape itself as a complete family entertainer. The ambition extends beyond the film, with The Legend of Vvaan comic book already introducing audiences to the larger folklore surrounding its universe.
Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in association with TVF and 11.11 Production, The Vvaan stars Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia. Written by Arunabh Kumar and directed by Deepak Mishra, with Manu Anand as DOP and Visual Director, the film is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar and Niraj Kothari.
The Vvaan arrives in cinemas on September 25, 2026, promising a big-screen fantasy folklore experience where the visuals, music, mystery and scale come together to create a world audiences will want to step into.
