Barsaat’ gets its own story: Banjaare unveil official music video after a Landmark Run
National, 11th September 2026: After a landmark run that saw their music travel from Haryana to global audiences, Banjaare, the brother duo – Sumit and Anuj, now unveil the official music video for ‘Barsaat’, bringing their deeply emotional story of love, longing and letting go to life on screen. The release comes at a defining point in the duo’s journey, following the success of ‘Bairan’ and ‘Barsaat’, their association with Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s India campaign and their record of becoming the first Haryanvi artists to deliver back-to-back No. 1 songs on Spotify India Charts.
A continuation of the emotional world introduced with ‘Bairan’, ‘Barsaat’ looks at what remains after the relationship falls apart, this time through the woman’s eyes. Played by Punjabi actor Akaisha Vats, the official video follows ‘HER’ journey. The story unfolds through intimate memories and flashbacks captured in a grainy, retro-visual style.
The video is directed by Teji Sandhu, known for his work on music-led visual narratives including Mitta Ror’s viral track Sheesha. His visual treatment brings a certain nostalgia to Barsaat, allowing the emotion to sit at the centre of the story rather than overpowering it. In his recent post, he shared, “No monitor, no instant playback honestly, I had no idea how it would come out. That uncertainty is the beauty of film.”
Speaking about the journey of ‘Barsaat’ Banjaare shared, “We have always wanted to make music that reaches the heart, and seeing people make our songs a part of their own lives means everything to us. With ‘Barsaat’, we got to tell the story in a completely new way. Our dream is to take Haryanvi music to a place where people everywhere feel proud of their roots and their mother tongue. We hope ‘Barsaat’ makes people feel something long after the song ends.”
The release marks another chapter in Banjaare’s growing journey of taking Haryanvi music beyond its traditional boundaries. ‘Bairan’ established the emotional connection; ‘Barsaat’ has taken that connection further, finding its place on the charts, within the Spider-Man universe and now on screen through a story that speaks to the universal experience of loving, losing and learning to let go. For Banjaare, the journey has never been about leaving their roots behind to reach a wider audience. It has been about taking those roots with them.
