Dubai: Actor Suriya’s upcoming film Scene, directed by acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Jithu Madhavan, marked the beginning of its promotional campaign with an exclusive event at a popular shopping mall in Dubai. The event witnessed an enthusiastic response from fans, as the film’s cast and crew shared insights into the project, its unique storyline and the creative vision behind the film.

Produced by Jyotika and Suriya under the banners of 2D Entertainment and Zhagaram Studios, Scene features Suriya alongside Nazriya Nazim, Naslen, Anandraj and Lal, among others. The film is directed by Jithu Madhavan, with Vineeth Augustine handling cinematography and Sushin Shyam composing the music. Jayasri Damodaran serves as co-producer.

The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 6, coinciding with the Deepavali festive season.

Suriya: “My Fans’ Unconditional Love Gives Me the Courage to Experiment”

Addressing the gathering in Dubai, Suriya thanked his fans for their patience, affection and unwavering support. He revealed that working with Jithu Madhavan had been a long-standing wish and that he had not expected the opportunity to materialise so soon.

“I had always wished to work with Jithu Madhavan, but I never thought it would happen so quickly. When he began narrating the story, I started laughing within the first five minutes. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the entire narration. As always, Jithu has created a distinctive world through Scene, and I am happy to have been part of it,” Suriya said.

Reflecting on his career, the actor noted that although he had completed 48 films over 28 years in the industry, the journey of Scene had given him a renewed sense of excitement.

“Fans expect Suriya to emerge from Saravanan. For them, I strive to be Suriya. I want to bring out the many unexplored facets of myself on screen. The unconditional love I receive from my fans gives me the courage to portray different kinds of characters.

“If I put in one per cent of effort as an actor, I receive a hundred per cent of love from my fans. I want to remain true to that love, and that is what keeps me working hard. I am grateful to all the directors and producers who have helped shape my identity as an actor,” he added.

‘Scene’ Promises Crime, Mystery and Family Entertainment

Offering a glimpse into the film’s genre, Suriya explained that Scene would not be confined to a single cinematic style.

“You can describe it as a crime thriller or a murder mystery. At the same time, it will also be a family entertainer. I believe audiences will experience something fresh and different with this film,” he said.

Suriya also praised Nazriya Nazim for her portrayal of Maya, describing her contribution to the film as outstanding. He expressed confidence that Naslen, who makes his Tamil debut with Scene, would go on to appear in many more Tamil films.

“I believe Naslen has created magic with his performance in this film. I hope he continues to be part of many Tamil projects,” Suriya said.

The actor also expressed his admiration for music composer Sushin Shyam, revealing that he was a fan of his work. He added that several members of the Malayalam film fraternity had contributed to the Tamil project, making the collaboration particularly special.

“Rajasekar and I have been friends since our school days, and we started 2D Entertainment together. Zhagaram Studios is a sister concern of 2D Entertainment.

“Through 2D Entertainment, we will continue producing quality films with strong entertainment value that appeal to audiences and achieve commercial success. Zhagaram Studios, however, has a different objective. We want to discover young talent with fresh ideas and give them opportunities to showcase their abilities. Suriya further acknowledged Jayasri Damodaran, who has been managing the Agaram Foundation for two decades and has now taken on responsibilities at Zhagaram Studios as well.

“I initially thought of speaking in Malayalam because there are many Malayalis in this part of the world. However, since I have directed a Tamil film, I should speak in Tamil as well.

“The boundaries between film industries are gradually disappearing. Audiences in Kerala watch Tamil films, while audiences in Tamil Nadu embrace Malayalam cinema. There is no longer a rigid distinction in the way people approach films based on language. I believe Scene will appeal to audiences everywhere,” he said.
