சென்னை வர்த்தக மையத்தில் நடைபெற்ற இந்த வெற்றி விழாவில் படக்குழுவினர் ஒன்றாகக் கூடி, திரைப்படத்தை வரவேற்ற ரசிகர்களுக்கும், படத்தின் வெற்றிக்குப் பின்னால் இருந்த ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் நன்றி தெரிவித்தனர்.
சூரி, சுஹாஸ், மஹிமா நம்பியார், சத்யராஜ், ரவீந்திர விஜய், பால சரவணன் உள்ளிட்டோர் நடித்திருக்கும் இப்படத்தை மதிமாறன் புகழேந்தி இயக்கியுள்ளார். ஜி.வி. பிரகாஷ் குமார் இசையமைக்க, எஸ்.ஆர். கதிர் ஒளிப்பதிவு செய்துள்ளார். பிரதீப் இ. ராகவ் படத்தொகுப்பு பணியையும், டி.ஆர்.கே. கிரண் கலை இயக்கத்தையும் கவனித்துள்ளனர். பீட்டர் ஹெய்ன் ஆக்ஷன் காட்சிகளை வடிவமைத்துள்ளார். ஆர்.எஸ். இன்போடெயின்மென்ட் சார்பில் எல்ரெட்குமார் தயாரித்துள்ளார்.
“மக்கள் கொண்டாடுகிறார்கள் என்றால் நாமும் கொண்டாட வேண்டும்!”
விழாவில் இயக்குநர் வெற்றிமாறன் பேசியபோது, ஒரு படத்தின் உண்மையான வெற்றி என்பது மக்களின் வரவேற்புதான் என்பதை குறிப்பிட்டார்.
“மக்கள் ஒரு படத்தை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு கொண்டாடுகிறார்கள் என்றால், அதற்குள் வேறு எதையும் பேச வேண்டியதில்லை. அந்த வெற்றியை நாமும் கொண்டாட வேண்டும்” என்றார்.
அதே நேரத்தில் மதிமாறனுக்கு ஒரு முக்கியமான அறிவுரையையும் அவர் கூறினார்.
நீண்ட காலமாக எதற்காக போராடினார்களோ அந்த இடத்தை தற்போது அடைந்துவிட்டதாகக் கூறிய வெற்றிமாறன், இனி மதிமாறன் நிதானமாகப் பயணிக்க வேண்டும் என்றார்.
தயாரிப்பாளர் எல்ரெட்குமாரின் சினிமா மீதான நம்பிக்கையையும் அவர் நினைவுகூர்ந்தார். ‘விடுதலை 1’ படத்தை எடுக்கும் போது படத்தின் செலவு குறித்து தான் தயங்கியதாகவும், ஆனால் எல்ரெட்குமார் “பரவாயில்லை, எடுக்கலாம்” என்று முழு நம்பிக்கையுடன் கூறியதாகவும் தெரிவித்தார்.
அதேபோல் ‘மண்டாடி’ படத்திலும் மதிமாறன் நினைத்த காட்சி சரியாக வராதபோது, செலவைப் பற்றி கவலைப்படாமல் மீண்டும் கடலுக்குச் சென்று படமாக்க தயாரிப்பாளர் வாய்ப்பு கொடுத்ததாகக் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

சூரியின் திரைப்பயணத்தைப் பற்றி பேசிய வெற்றிமாறன், அவரது வளர்ச்சி ரசிகர்களுக்கு மிகவும் நெருக்கமானதாக மாறியிருப்பதாகக் கூறினார்.

சூரியைப் பற்றி பேசும்போது, படப்பிடிப்பு தளத்தில் நடந்த ஒரு சம்பவத்தை எல்ரெட்குமார் பகிர்ந்துகொண்டார்.
கடலுக்குள் படப்பிடிப்பை முடித்துவிட்டு கடுமையான சோர்வுடன், காலில் அடிபட்ட நிலையில் சூரி இருந்ததாகக் கூறினார். அப்போது தன்னைப் பார்த்த சூரி, “ஒரு பத்து நிமிடம் காத்திருக்கிறீர்களா?” என்று கேட்டதாகவும், அதன் பின்னர் அங்கிருந்த தொழிலாளர்கள் மற்றும் மற்றவர்களிடம் பேசிவிட்டு தன்னை சந்திக்க வந்ததாகவும் தெரிவித்தார்.
கதாநாயகனாக உயர்ந்த பிறகும் அனைவரிடமும் அன்பாகவும் எளிமையாகவும் பழகும் அவரது இயல்புதான் அவரை இந்த இடத்திற்கு கொண்டு வந்துள்ளதாக எல்ரெட்குமார் கூறினார்.

பால சரவணனின் காமெடி காட்சிகளுக்கும் ரசிகர்களிடம் இருந்து தொடர்ந்து சிரிப்பலை கிடைப்பதாகக் கூறிய அவர், பீட்டர் ஹெய்னின் ஆக்ஷன் காட்சிகளையும் பாராட்டினார்.
படத்தில் சத்யராஜின் திரையிருப்பு படம் முழுவதும் உணரக்கூடியதாக இருப்பதாகவும் அவர் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

20 ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு ஒரு மனிதன் தனது ஊருக்குத் திரும்பும்போது அவனுடைய மனநிலை எப்படி இருக்கும், அவன் எப்படி நடந்து கொள்வான், சிறிய விஷயங்கள் கூட அவனுடைய பழைய நினைவுகளைத் தூண்டினால் எப்படி எதிர்வினையாற்றுவான் என்பதையெல்லாம் சூரியிடம் விரிவாகப் பேசியதாகவும் தெரிவித்தார்.

A film achieving success after its release is one thing. But when not just the film’s team, but the fans themselves celebrate that success as their own, it becomes something truly special. That was exactly the spirit witnessed at the success celebration of ‘Mandadi’.
The success event, held at the Chennai Trade Centre, brought together the cast and crew, who thanked the audience for embracing the film and everyone who contributed to its success.
Starring Soori, Suhas, Mahima Nambiar, Sathyaraj, Ravindra Vijay and Bala Saravanan among others, the film is directed by Madhimaaran Pugazhendhi. G.V. Prakash Kumar has composed the music, while S.R. Kathir has handled the cinematography. Pradeep E. Ragav is the editor and T.R.K. Kiran is the art director. Peter Hein has choreographed the action sequences. The film is produced by Elred Kumar under the banner of R.S. Infotainment.
“When people celebrate a film, we should celebrate it too!”
Speaking at the event, director Vetrimaaran said that the true success of a film lies in the audience’s acceptance and appreciation.
“When people accept a film and celebrate it, there is nothing else that needs to be said. We should celebrate that success along with them,” he said.
At the same time, Vetrimaaran offered an important piece of advice to director Madhimaaran.
He said that Madhimaaran had finally reached the place he had been striving towards for a long time and advised him to move forward with patience and composure.
Vetrimaaran also recalled producer Elred Kumar’s faith in cinema. He revealed that while making Viduthalai Part 1, he had initially been concerned about the film’s budget, but Elred Kumar had confidently told him, “It’s okay, let’s make it.”
He said the same confidence was evident during the making of Mandadi. When a particular sequence did not turn out as Madhimaaran had envisioned, the producer did not hesitate to give the team another opportunity to shoot the sequence at sea without worrying about the additional expense.

Speaking about Soori’s journey in cinema, Vetrimaaran said that the actor’s growth has made him extremely relatable to audiences.
Pointing out that Soori’s journey began with appearing in a single shot and has now taken him to becoming a lead actor and an artiste trusted by audiences, Vetrimaaran said people view Soori’s success as their own.
He said the reason audiences celebrate Soori is because they feel, “A boy from our own home has won.”
“If you give Madhimaaran the confidence, he will get the job done!”
Producer Elred Kumar praised director Madhimaaran for his approach to filmmaking.
He said Madhimaaran is someone who does not speak much, but quietly observes and absorbs everything happening around him. According to Elred Kumar, the first qualities he looks for in a director are discipline and dedication towards the work.
Elred Kumar revealed that Madhimaaran had told him that he would shoot only what was written in the screenplay and that the director had followed that principle throughout the making of the film.
He also spoke about the various technical challenges involved in making Mandadi. What began as a Tamil film eventually expanded into a project releasing in five languages and reaching large-format screens, including IMAX.
His statement, “Vetrimaaran sir transformed Soori into a hero; Madhimaaran has transformed him into a mass hero,” became one of the highlights of the event.
Soori’s humility… A special incident recalled by Elred Kumar!
While speaking about Soori, Elred Kumar shared an incident from the film’s shoot.
He said that after completing a shoot in the sea, Soori was extremely exhausted and had also injured his leg. When Soori saw Elred Kumar, he reportedly asked him, “Can you wait for ten minutes?”
Soori then spoke to the workers and others present at the location before coming to meet the producer.
Elred Kumar said that Soori’s ability to remain affectionate and humble with everyone even after becoming a lead actor was one of the qualities that had brought him to his current position.
“Fans are getting emotional during Mahima’s scenes!”
Elred Kumar said that Mahima Nambiar’s scenes in Mandadi have also been receiving a strong response from audiences in theatres.
He noted that Bala Saravanan’s comedy scenes continue to generate laughter among viewers and also praised Peter Hein’s action sequences.
He added that Sathyaraj’s presence can be felt throughout the film.

Actor Ravindra Vijay, who could not attend the event in person as he was shooting in Hyderabad, conveyed his wishes through a video message.
He thanked director Madhimaaran for making a film like Mandadi and producer Elred Kumar for having the confidence to back it.
He praised S.R. Kathir’s cinematography for beautifully capturing both the vastness of the sea and the depth of human emotions.
He also said the pace of the editing had taken the film to another level and called for the film’s success to be celebrated.
“I was afraid whether I would be able to pull off this character” – Mahima Nambiar
Mahima Nambiar revealed that she initially had some hesitation about taking up her role in Mandadi.
She said director Madhimaaran had told her that the character would be challenging and asked whether she was prepared to take it on. Mahima said she agreed to the challenge.
According to the actress, that decision eventually gave her one of the most memorable characters of her career.
She also said she felt proud whenever she saw audiences celebrating Soori’s success as their own when she visited theatres.
“I dedicate this success to the owners of the traditional sailing boats!”
One of the most significant moments of the event was director Madhimaaran Pugazhendhi’s speech.
He dedicated the success of Mandadi to the owners of traditional sailing boats and to the generations of fishermen who have struggled with the sea while protecting their livelihoods.
“This film is for you,” Madhimaaran said, while also thanking the friends and well-wishers who introduced him to this world and supported him throughout the journey.
He said the film, which began with an average budget, grew into a much larger project because of producer Elred Kumar’s faith in the vision.
According to Madhimaaran, the film’s journey from a Tamil production to a five-language release and its screening in IMAX were made possible because of the producer’s support.
“You don’t have to direct a big-budget film to become a big director. Even if a small-time director has a big dream, it can be achieved when there is a producer who believes in that dream,” Madhimaaran said.
“Muthukkaali is a character very close to me!”
Speaking about Soori’s character Muthukkaali, Madhimaaran said the role was extremely personal to him.
He explained that he had discussed with Soori in detail how a person might feel after returning to his hometown following 20 years away, how he might behave, and how even small things could trigger memories from his past and influence his reactions.
The director thanked Soori for bringing the character to life and expressed his gratitude to everyone who worked on the film.
“When I see Muthukkaali, I see Madhimaaran!”
Speaking last, Soori thanked audiences across the world for embracing Mandadi as their own film and celebrating its success.
He spoke at length about the process of creating the character of Muthukkaali.
Soori said he kept thinking about how a person would be after losing 20 years of his life and returning home, and how his anger, pain and memories from the past would manifest in his actions.
He revealed that he had constantly discussed the character with director Madhimaaran and worked with him to shape Muthukkaali.
“Today, when people appreciate my performance, I see Madhimaaran himself as Muthukkaali,” Soori said emotionally.
From fans to leading stars…
Soori also revealed that several prominent personalities from the film industry, including Rajinikanth, had congratulated him after watching Mandadi.

He further expressed his happiness over the thousands of reels being created by fans around the film.
Soori said the producer’s earlier statement that “the people themselves will take the film to everyone” had now come true.
