தமிழ் OTT உலகில் வேரூன்றிய கதைகளுக்கு தொடர்ந்து முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுத்து வரும் ZEE5, தற்போது கிராமப்புற பின்னணியில் உருவான அதிரடி குற்றத் தொடரான ‘வாரண்ட்’ மூலம் மீண்டும் கவனம் ஈர்த்துள்ளது. மே 22, 2026 முதல் ஒளிபரப்பாக உள்ள இந்த புதிய ஒரிஜினல் தொடரின் மிகப்பெரிய சிறப்பு என்னவென்றால், ‘விலங்கு’ மற்றும் ‘மாமன்’ போன்ற படைப்புகளால் கவனம் பெற்ற இயக்குநர் பிரசாந்த் பாண்டியராஜ், இதன் மூலம் கதாநாயகனாக அறிமுகமாகிறார்.

சிவன் பிக்சர்ஸ் மற்றும் எஸ் ஸ்டுடியோஸ் தயாரிப்பில் உருவாகியுள்ள இந்த தொடரை புதுமுக இயக்குநர் விக்னேஷ் நடராஜன் இயக்கியுள்ளார். இசையமைப்பாளர் சாம் C.S. தனது தீவிரமான பின்னணி இசையால் கதையின் அழுத்தத்தையும் உணர்ச்சியையும் உயர்த்தியுள்ளார். மேலும், தொடரின் ஷோ ரன்னராகவும் நடிகர் தேர்விலும் பிரசாந்த் பாண்டியராஜ் முக்கிய பங்காற்றியுள்ளார்.

ZEE5’s ‘Warrant’ Premieres on May 22 – Prashanth Pandiyaraj Steps Into a Powerful New Avatar

Continuing its streak of rooted and hard-hitting Tamil originals, ZEE5 is all set to premiere its latest rural crime thriller Warrant from May 22, 2026. What makes the series especially intriguing is the acting debut of filmmaker Prashanth Pandiyaraj, best known for directing acclaimed projects like Vilangu and Maaman. This time, he steps away from behind the camera to take center stage as the lead protagonist.

Produced by Sivan Pictures and S Studios, the series is directed by debutant Vignesh Natarajan, while Sam C.S. brings intensity to the narrative with a gripping musical score. Apart from playing the lead role, Prashanth Pandiyaraj has also served as the showrunner and casting director for the series.

The ensemble cast includes Balaji Sakthivel, Kousalya, Kali Venkat, Namritha MV, Arul Jothi, Aruldoss, and Saaya Devi, all of whom bring authenticity and emotional depth to the story. Each character has been crafted with a raw realism that mirrors everyday life.

More than just a conventional police drama, Warrant explores the unseen emotional and psychological pressures buried within routine law enforcement duties. The story questions where authority ends and justice begins, while exposing how fear, humiliation, and power can slowly reshape an individual.

At the center of the narrative is Kottai Karuppusamy, a lower-rank police officer whose silent struggles and emotional scars gradually influence the way he enforces the law. What begins as an ordinary existence slowly spirals into something far more dangerous and unsettling.

Speaking about his acting debut, Prashanth Pandiyaraj shared,
“Kottai Karuppusamy is not a heroic figure meant to be celebrated. He is flawed, vulnerable, and deeply human. That honesty frightened me, and that is exactly why I chose this role. As a filmmaker, I’ve always preferred truth over spectacle. Acting in Warrant forced me to confront emotions I usually explore only from behind the camera. I believe audiences will not just watch this journey, but truly feel and reflect on it.”

Blending realism, emotional intensity, and gripping crime storytelling, Warrant promises to offer Tamil OTT audiences a deeply immersive experience when it begins streaming on ZEE5 from May 22, 2026.
