கமல் – ரஜினியுடன் பணியாற்றியது என் வாழ்க்கையின் மிகப்பெரிய பாக்கியம்: ‘அசுரன்’ ஜெகே மனம் திறந்த பேட்டி
‘லிங்கம்’ வெப் தொடரின் வெற்றிக்குப் பிறகு மீண்டும் ரசிகர்களின் கவனத்தை ஈர்த்துள்ள நடிகர் ‘அசுரன்’ ஜெகே, தனது நீண்டகால திரைப்பயணம், போராட்டங்கள், இயக்குநராக இருந்த காலம், நடிகராக மாறிய தருணம் மற்றும் கமல்ஹாசன், ரஜினிகாந்த் ஆகிய இரு ஜாம்பவான்களுடன் பணியாற்றிய அனுபவங்களை பகிர்ந்துள்ளார்.
‘அசுரன்’, ‘சாணிக்காயிதம்’, ‘கேப்டன் மில்லர்’, ‘லால் சலாம்’, ‘வா வாத்தியார்’, ‘கர’, ‘கருப்பு’, ‘ப்ளாஸ்ட்’ உள்ளிட்ட படங்களிலும், சமீபத்தில் வெளியான ‘லிங்கம்’ இணையத் தொடரிலும் தனது இயல்பான நடிப்பால் ரசிகர்களின் பாராட்டைப் பெற்றவர் ஜெகே. ஆனால், நடிகராக அறிமுகமாகும் முன்பே அவர் இயக்குநராக வேண்டும் என்ற கனவுடன் திரையுலகில் காலடி வைத்திருந்தார்.
கன்னியாகுமரி மாவட்டத்தைச் சேர்ந்த ஜெயகிருஷ்ணா என்ற இயற்பெயர் கொண்ட ஜெகே, மேஜர் சுந்தர்ராஜனிடம் உதவி இயக்குநராக தனது திரைப்பயணத்தைத் தொடங்கினார். அதன் பின்னர் கமல்ஹாசனின் ‘விக்ரம்’ திரைப்படக் காலத்தில் ராஜ்கமல் பிலிம்ஸ் நிறுவனத்தில் பணியாற்றிய அனுபவம், திரைப்படத் தயாரிப்பின் பல்வேறு பரிமாணங்களை நேரடியாகக் கற்றுக் கொடுத்ததாக அவர் கூறுகிறார்.
அதன்பிறகு கலைமணி, மனோபாலா, ஆர்.கே. செல்வமணி உள்ளிட்ட பல முக்கிய இயக்குநர்களிடம் உதவி இயக்குநராக பணியாற்றிய அவர், பல ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு 2014-ஆம் ஆண்டு விஜய் சேதுபதியை வைத்து ‘வன்மம்’ திரைப்படத்தை இயக்கினார். விமர்சன ரீதியாக பாராட்டப்பட்டாலும், வணிகரீதியில் அந்த படம் எதிர்பார்த்த வெற்றியைப் பெறவில்லை. அதன் பின்னர் மீண்டும் இயக்குநராக வாய்ப்புகள் அமையாமல் போனது அவரது வாழ்க்கையில் மிகப்பெரிய திருப்பமாக அமைந்தது.
இந்நிலையில், நடிகராக முயற்சி செய்ய வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணம் உருவானதாக ஜெகே கூறுகிறார். பிரபல எடிட்டர் வி.டி. விஜயன் அறிமுகம் செய்து வைத்ததன் மூலம் இயக்குநர் வெற்றிமாறனை சந்திக்கும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தது. எளிமையான ஆடிஷனுக்குப் பிறகு ‘அசுரன்’ திரைப்படத்தில் மாடசாமி என்ற கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்த அவர், அந்த ஒரு படம் தனது வாழ்க்கையை முழுமையாக மாற்றியதாக நினைவுகூர்கிறார்.
“‘அசுரன்’ எனக்கு ஒரு புதிய அடையாளத்தை மட்டுமல்ல, ஒரு புதிய வாழ்க்கையையும் கொடுத்தது. அதன்பிறகு தொடர்ந்து நல்ல கதாபாத்திரங்கள் என்னைத் தேடி வந்தன. இன்று 25-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட படங்களில் நடித்திருக்கிறேன். ‘லிங்கம்’ வெப் தொடருக்குப் பிறகு மீண்டும் நல்ல வரவேற்பு கிடைத்துள்ளது,” என அவர் தெரிவித்தார்.
தனது நடிப்பு குறித்து பேசும்போது, “நான் கதாநாயகனாக வர வேண்டும் என்ற ஆசை இல்லை. என் வயதுக்கும் தோற்றத்துக்கும் ஏற்ற குணச்சித்திர வேடங்களில்தான் தொடர்ந்து நடிக்க விரும்புகிறேன். எஸ்.வி. ரங்காராவ், எம்.ஆர். ராதா, வி.கே. ராமசாமி போன்ற மகத்தான கலைஞர்களின் நடிப்பு என்னை எப்போதும் ஈர்த்துள்ளது,” என்றார்.
கமல்ஹாசன் மற்றும் ரஜினிகாந்த் குறித்து பேசிய ஜெகே, “என் வாழ்க்கையில் இந்த இரண்டு லெஜெண்ட்களுடன் பணியாற்றியது மிகப்பெரிய பாக்கியம். ராஜ்கமல் பிலிம்ஸில் பணியாற்றிய காலம் என் சினிமா வாழ்க்கையின் பல அடித்தளங்களை அமைத்தது. பின்னர் மீண்டும் கமல் சாரிடம் வாய்ப்பு கேட்டபோது, அவர் எந்த தயக்கமும் இல்லாமல் என்னை ஏற்றுக் கொண்டார். அந்த பெருந்தன்மையை நான் வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் மறக்க முடியாது,” என்று நெகிழ்ச்சியுடன் கூறினார்.
ரஜினிகாந்த் குறித்து அவர், “‘லால் சலாம்’ படத்தில் அவருடன் முழுப் படமும் பயணித்தேன். நீண்ட நாட்களுக்கு பிறகும் சந்திக்கும்போது அதே அன்புடன் நலம் விசாரிப்பார். அந்த எளிமையும் மனிதநேயமும்தான் அவரை இவ்வளவு உயரத்திற்கு கொண்டு சென்றிருக்கிறது என்று நான் நம்புகிறேன்,” என்றார்.
தற்போது இரண்டு புதிய பெரிய நட்சத்திரங்களின் திரைப்படங்களில் நடித்து வருவதாக தெரிவித்த ஜெகே, “வாழ்க்கை எப்போது எந்த கதவைத் திறக்கும் என்று யாருக்கும் தெரியாது. போராடுபவர்களுக்கு ஒரு நாள் வாய்ப்பு கண்டிப்பாக வரும். நான் அந்த நம்பிக்கையுடன்தான் இன்னும் பயணம் செய்து கொண்டிருக்கிறேன்,” என்று நம்பிக்கையுடன் தனது பேட்டியை நிறைவு செய்தார்.
Working with Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth Is the Greatest Blessing of My Life: Actor Asuran JK Opens Up
After earning widespread appreciation for his performance in the web series Lingam, actor Asuran JK has reflected on his remarkable journey in the film industry, sharing memories of his struggles, transition from director to actor, and unforgettable experiences of working with two of Indian cinema’s biggest legends—Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth.
Known for his memorable performances in films such as Asuran, Saani Kaayidham, Captain Miller, Lal Salaam, Vaa Vaathiyaar, Kara, Karuppu, Blast, and most recently the web series Lingam, Asuran JK has steadily built a reputation as a dependable character actor with a distinctive screen presence.
However, acting was never part of his original plan.
Born as Jayakrishna in a village near Kanyakumari, JK entered the Tamil film industry with the dream of becoming a director. He began his career as an assistant director under veteran filmmaker Major Sundarrajan before getting an opportunity to work with Kamal Haasan during the production of Vikram. Joining Raj Kamal Films International proved to be a turning point, giving him invaluable exposure to every aspect of filmmaking and production.
Over the years, he worked alongside several renowned filmmakers, including Kalaimani, Manobala, and R.K. Selvamani. In 2014, he fulfilled his dream by directing Vanmam, starring Vijay Sethupathi. Although the film received appreciation from audiences and critics, it failed to achieve the commercial success it deserved, leaving JK without immediate directing opportunities.
Faced with an uncertain future, he decided to explore acting. A recommendation from veteran editor V.T. Vijayan introduced him to filmmaker Vetrimaaran, who cast him in Asuran after a simple audition. His performance as Madasamy became the turning point that transformed his career.
“Asuran didn’t just give me recognition—it gave me a new life. Since then, quality roles have continued to come my way. I have now completed more than 25 films, and Lingam has once again brought me closer to audiences,” JK said.
Speaking about his approach to acting, JK clarified that he has never aspired to become a conventional hero.
“I am happy playing character roles that suit my age and appearance. Legendary performers like S.V. Ranga Rao, M.R. Radha, and V.K. Ramasamy have always inspired me. Their influence has shaped my understanding of performance,” he explained.
Recalling his association with Kamal Haasan, JK described it as one of the greatest blessings of his career.
“My time at Raj Kamal Films taught me the fundamentals of cinema. Years later, when I returned and sought another opportunity from Kamal sir, I apologised for leaving earlier. He accepted me with grace and without hesitation. That generosity is something I will never forget,” he said.
Sharing his experience of working with Rajinikanth in Lal Salaam, JK added, “I had the privilege of sharing the screen with Rajini sir throughout the film. Even after a long gap, whenever we meet, he warmly enquires about my well-being. His humility and kindness are the qualities that have made him the icon he is today.”
Currently busy with two major upcoming projects featuring leading stars, JK believes that perseverance is the key to survival in the film industry.
“Life always has unexpected turns. Every struggle eventually finds its answer. If you continue to believe in yourself and keep moving forward, opportunities will come. That is exactly how my journey has unfolded,” he concluded.
