The launch event of “Eeram Kaayatha Kathaigal” (Stories That Never Lose Their Warmth), a collection of short stories written by lyricist and actor Mu. Jagan Kaviraj, turned into an emotional celebration of perseverance, reading, storytelling, and personal transformation.

The book was unveiled by filmmaker and actor , while Jagan Kaviraj’s parents, Mr. Muthaiya and Mrs. Lalitha, received the first copy. More than just a book launch, the event became a tribute to the remarkable journey of a man who rose from humble beginnings to establish himself as a respected creative voice.

Speakers at the event praised not only Jagan Kaviraj’s literary talent but also his humanity, resilience, and deep understanding of ordinary people’s lives.

Village Administrative Officer Annalakshmi highlighted Jagan’s passion for reading, describing it as the foundation of his growth as a writer. Although he could not complete formal schooling, she said he learned from the lives of people around him, turning their experiences into compelling stories.

IRS officer Senthil Kumar, who hails from Jagan’s native village, described Eeram Kaayatha Kathaigal as more than a collection of stories—it is a living document of rural life. He noted that Jagan possesses the rare ability to write from within a community rather than observing it from the outside, drawing comparisons to celebrated writers such as and .

Actor moved the audience with a personal anecdote about his father, who could not read but proudly distributed copies of his son’s poetry book to friends and acquaintances. Filmmaker emphasized the author’s gratitude and compassion. Music composer recalled his first collaboration with Jagan. He revealed that after sharing a tune over the phone, Jagan delivered a complete song within ten minutes. In his acceptance speech, Jagan Kaviraj expressed heartfelt gratitude to the mentors, friends, and family members who supported him throughout his journey. He said his belief in kindness and positive words has shaped both his life and his writing, making it difficult for him to create purely negative characters.

The most emotional moment of the evening came during Ameer’s speech. “I did not come here for the book; I came here for the man who wrote it,” he said.

Ameer recounted Jagan’s extraordinary life story—from growing up in the small village of Poolangulam, leaving school at an early age, and working various jobs including scrap trading, manual labor, and household goods sales, to eventually discovering the transformative power of reading through second-hand books.

“A boy who once spent his days smoking beedis now stands in Chennai as a celebrated author, honoring his parents on a public stage. What greater success can a person achieve?” Ameer asked, drawing thunderous applause from the audience.
