மாநில அரசின் விருது பெற்ற இயக்குநரான தயாள் பத்மநாபன், பல மொழிகளில் தரமான மற்றும் கருத்துள்ள திரைப்படங்களை வழங்கி வருபவர். அவரது 22வது திரைப்படமாகவும், தமிழில் மூன்றாவது படமாகவும் உருவாகியுள்ள இந்தப் படம், ஒரு மரண தண்டனைக் கைதியின் வாழ்க்கையில் நிகழும் ஒரே இரவை மையமாகக் கொண்டு மனித மனதின் ஆழங்களையும் நீதியின் பல பரிமாணங்களையும் ஆராய்கிறது.
2M சினிமாஸ் மற்றும் D பிக்சர்ஸ் நிறுவனங்கள் சார்பில் கே.வி. ஷபரீஷ் தயாரித்துள்ள இப்படத்தில் வெற்றி, ரங்கராஜ் பாண்டே, பிரிகிடா சாகா, சரவணன், மாறன், லிஸ்ஸி ஆண்டனி, லோகன் கண்ணன், நர்மதா, அருவி மதன், கன்யா பாரதி, கவிதா பாரதி மற்றும் சுப்பிரமணியம் சிவா உள்ளிட்ட பலர் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரங்களில் நடித்துள்ளனர்.
சென்னையில் நடைபெற்ற பிரம்மாண்ட பத்திரிகையாளர் சந்திப்பில் படக்குழுவினர் பங்கேற்று, படத்தின் உருவாக்க அனுபவங்களையும், அதன் பின்னணியில் இருந்த அர்ப்பணிப்புகளையும் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டனர். நிகழ்வின் சிறப்பம்சமாக, படத்தின் ‘விஷுவல் சினாப்சிஸ்’ மற்றும் கதாபாத்திர அறிமுகக் காட்சிகள் ஊடகங்களுக்காக பிரத்யேகமாக திரையிடப்பட்டன. இந்த முன்னோட்டம், படத்தின் மீதான எதிர்பார்ப்பை மேலும் அதிகரித்தது.

இசையமைப்பாளர் தர்புகா சிவா பேசுகையில், “இன்றைய சினிமாவில் டிரெண்ட், வைரல், ஃபார்முலா போன்ற வார்த்தைகளே அதிகம் பேசப்படுகின்றன. ஆனால் இந்தப் படத்தில் திரைக்கதை கேட்டதை மட்டுமே செய்ய வேண்டும் என்பதில் இயக்குநர் உறுதியாக இருந்தார். அதுவே இந்தப் படத்தின் பலம்,” என்று கூறினார்.
நடிகர் வெற்றி, “திட்டமிடலின் அர்த்தத்தை நான் தயாள் சாரிடம் தான் கற்றுக் கொண்டேன். அவருடன் பணியாற்ற வேண்டும் என்ற நீண்டநாள் விருப்பம் இந்தப் படத்தின் மூலம் நிறைவேறியுள்ளது,” என்றார்.
நடிகர் சரவணன், “தயாள் பத்மநாபன் போன்ற இயக்குநர்கள் தமிழில் மேலும் பல படங்களை உருவாக்க வேண்டும். அவரின் தெளிவான அணுகுமுறை படப்பிடிப்பை மிகவும் எளிதாக்கியது,” என்று பாராட்டினார்.
நடிகை பிரிகிடா சாகா, “எனக்கு மிகவும் நெருக்கமான கதாபாத்திரம் கிடைத்துள்ளது. இந்தப் படம் என் நடிப்பு பயணத்தில் மறக்க முடியாத அனுபவமாக இருக்கும்,” என்று பகிர்ந்துகொண்டார்.
நடிகர் அருவி மதன், “பெரிய பட்ஜெட்டே வெற்றியை நிர்ணயிக்காது; வலுவான உள்ளடக்கமே வெற்றியை தீர்மானிக்கும். அந்த வகையில் இந்தப் படம் நிச்சயம் மக்களை சென்றடையும்,” என்றார்.

A grand press meet was recently held in Chennai, where the cast and crew shared insights into the making of the film.
