தமிழ் சினிமாவில் க்ரைம் த்ரில்லர் படங்களுக்கு எப்போதும் தனி வரவேற்பு இருந்து வருகிறது. அந்த வரிசையில், மலைப் பிரதேசத்தின் மர்மங்களையும், நாட்டார் கதைகளின் இருண்ட அடுக்குகளையும் இணைத்து உருவாகியுள்ள புதிய க்ரைம் த்ரில்லர் திரைப்படம் ‘தி டார்க் ஹெவன்’.
மேக்கரை என்ற மலைக் கிராமத்தை மையமாகக் கொண்டு உருவாகியுள்ள இப்படம், ஏழு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஒருமுறை ஜூன் மாதத்தில் நடைபெறும் தொடர் கொலைகளைச் சுற்றி நகர்கிறது. கொலைகள் தொடர்ந்து நிகழ்ந்தாலும், எந்தவித தடயங்களும் காவல்துறைக்கு கிடைக்காத சூழலில், அந்த ஊருக்கு புதிதாக வரும் இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் பாரி விசாரணையைத் தொடங்குகிறார். மர்மத்தின் பின்னால் இருக்கும் உண்மை என்ன? கொலையாளி யார்? என்பதற்கான பதில்களை விறுவிறுப்பாகத் தேடும் பயணமே ‘தி டார்க் ஹெவன்’.
நாட்டார் மரபுகளிலும், தலைமுறைகள் கடந்து சொல்லப்பட்டு வரும் தொன்மக் கதைகளிலும் இருந்து ஈர்க்கப்பட்டுள்ள இப்படம், வழக்கமான க்ரைம் த்ரில்லர் படங்களிலிருந்து மாறுபட்டு, பார்வையாளர்களுக்கு புதுமையான அனுபவத்தை வழங்கும் வகையில் உருவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இப்படம் குறித்து இயக்குநர் பாலாஜி கூறுகையில், “தமிழ் ரசிகர்கள் தரமான க்ரைம் த்ரில்லர் படங்களை எப்போதும் ஆதரித்து வருகிறார்கள். அந்த எதிர்பார்ப்பை பூர்த்தி செய்யும் வகையில் வலுவான கதையும், சஸ்பென்ஸ் நிறைந்த திரைக்கதையும் கொண்டு ‘தி டார்க் ஹெவன்’ உருவாகியுள்ளது. கதையின் ஒவ்வொரு கட்டத்திலும் எதிர்பாராத திருப்பங்கள் ரசிகர்களை இருக்கை நுனியில் அமர வைக்கும்” என்றார்.
‘ராஜா ராணி’ தொடர் மூலம் ரசிகர்களிடம் பிரபலமான சித்து சித் கதாநாயகனாக நடித்துள்ள இப்படத்தில், பிக்பாஸ் புகழ் தர்ஷிகா கதாநாயகியாக நடித்துள்ளார். இவர்களுடன் ரித்விகா, நிழல்கள் ரவி, வேல ராமமூர்த்தி, ஜெயகுமார் ஜானகிராமன், அருள் சங்கர், பிரதீப், அலெக்ஸ், டேனி தயாள் உள்ளிட்டோர் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரங்களில் நடித்துள்ளனர். மேலும் இதுவரை நகைச்சுவை வேடங்களில் அதிகம் கவனம் பெற்ற சாப்ளின் பாலு, முற்றிலும் மாறுபட்ட கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்திருப்பது படத்தின் கூடுதல் சிறப்பாகும்.
ஒளிப்பதிவை மணிகண்டன் பி.கே. மேற்கொண்டுள்ள நிலையில், படத்தொகுப்பை ராஜா ஆறுமுகம் கவனித்துள்ளார். ‘ஜாக்கி’ திரைப்படத்தின் மூலம் கவனம் பெற்ற சக்தி பாலாஜி இசையமைத்துள்ளார்.
வண்டிப்பெரியார், அச்சன்கோவில், தென்மலை, ஏற்காடு, பத்துகாணி, தென்காசி மற்றும் முக்கூடல் உள்ளிட்ட இயற்கை எழில் சூழ்ந்த மலைப் பகுதிகளில் படமாக்கப்பட்டுள்ள இப்படத்தின் படப்பிடிப்பு முழுமையாக நிறைவடைந்துள்ளது. தற்போது இறுதிக்கட்ட பணிகளும் முடிவடைந்து, படம் தணிக்கைக்காக அனுப்பப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இப்படத்தின் ட்ரெய்லர் வெளியீட்டு விழா வரும் ஜூன் 25ஆம் தேதி நடைபெறவுள்ளது. மலையாள சினிமாவில் சமீப காலமாக பெரும் வரவேற்பைப் பெற்று வரும் க்ரைம் த்ரில்லர் படங்களின் தரத்தில் உருவாகியுள்ளதாகக் கூறப்படும் ‘தி டார்க் ஹெவன்’, ஜூலை 17ஆம் தேதி உலகம் முழுவதும் திரையரங்குகளில் வெளியாகிறது.

Crime thrillers have always enjoyed a special place among Tamil cinema audiences. Joining this exciting genre is ‘The Dark Heaven’, a gripping new thriller that blends the mysteries of a remote hill village with the dark undertones of age-old folklore.
Set in the mountainous village of Mekkarai, the film revolves around a series of mysterious murders that occur every seven years during the month of June. Despite repeated investigations, the police are unable to uncover any clues behind the killings. When a newly appointed inspector, Pari, arrives in the village, he begins a determined investigation to unravel the truth. Who is behind these murders? What secret lies buried beneath the village’s haunting legends? The answers form the crux of The Dark Heaven.
Drawing inspiration from traditional folk tales and myths passed down through generations, the film offers a fresh take on the crime thriller genre, promising audiences an immersive and suspense-filled cinematic experience.
Speaking about the film, director Balaji said, “Tamil audiences have consistently supported quality crime thrillers. The Dark Heaven has been crafted with a compelling story and a tightly woven screenplay that will keep viewers engaged throughout. Every stage of the narrative unfolds with unexpected twists, making it an edge-of-the-seat experience.”
The film stars Sidhu Sith, known for his popularity through the television series Raja Rani, in the lead role. Darshika, who gained recognition through Bigg Boss, plays the female lead. The ensemble cast also includes Rithvika, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vela Ramamoorthy, Jayakumar Janakiraman, Arul Shankar, Pradeep, Alex, and Danny Dayal in pivotal roles. Adding further intrigue, comedian Chaplin Balu appears in a completely different avatar, marking a notable departure from the comic roles he is best known for.
The film’s cinematography is handled by Manikandan P.K., while Raja Arumugam takes charge of editing. The music is composed by Sakthi Balaji, known for his work in Jackie.
Shot across picturesque yet challenging hill locations including Vandiperiyar, Achankovil, Thenmala, Yercaud, Pathukani, Tenkasi, and Mukkudal, the film has successfully completed production. Post-production work, including dubbing and final enhancements, has also been completed, and the film has now been submitted for certification.
The trailer launch event is scheduled to take place on June 25, building anticipation ahead of the film’s release.
Positioned as a crime thriller that matches the scale and intensity of the much-celebrated Malayalam thrillers of recent years, ‘The Dark Heaven’ is all set for a worldwide theatrical release on July 17.
