வாலிபால் மைதானத்திலிருந்து வெள்ளித்திரைக்கு… தமிழ் சினிமாவில் புதிய அத்தியாயம் தொடங்கும் “அட்டாக்கர்”!

From the Volleyball Court to the Silver Screen: “Attacker” Marks a New Chapter in Tamil Cinema
While sports-based films have occasionally found success in Tamil cinema, no film has ever been made with volleyball as its central theme. Breaking new ground, “Attacker”, touted as Tamil cinema’s first-ever volleyball-based feature film, was officially launched with a grand pooja ceremony in Chennai today.
Produced by Dineshraj under the banner of Cinema Media & Entertainment Limited, a company listed on the BSE, the film is already drawing attention for introducing a new generation of talent. The movie marks the acting debut of Pavish, actor Dhanush’s nephew, and Avantika Sundar, daughter of actor-director Sundar C and actress Khushbu.
The film is written and directed by debutant Thamo Nagabooshanam, who previously worked as an associate director with acclaimed filmmaker Pa. Ranjith. Rather than focusing solely on sporting victories, Attacker aims to blend the excitement of volleyball with themes of community life, rural culture, tradition, and the aspirations of young people.
The launch event was attended by several notable personalities, including filmmaker and film analyst-producer , who extended their best wishes to the team. The presence of Indian volleyball players G.R. Vaishnav and L.M. Manoj, along with several other sports personalities, added significance to the occasion.
Speaking at the event, recalled introducing volleyball in his village and shared how the sport had positively influenced the lives of many young people. He expressed happiness that a Tamil film is now being made around the sport and wished Attacker great success.
Producer described the project as an effort to combine sports with cultural identity. He revealed that the actors have undergone intensive volleyball training for more than six months and that several national-level volleyball players have been cast in important roles.
Notably, one of India’s leading volleyball players, Ajith Lal, along with several other national-level athletes, will be seen in key roles, a move expected to enhance the film’s authenticity and sporting spirit.
The film’s promotional video, released earlier, has already garnered hundreds of thousands of views and gone viral across social media platforms, significantly boosting anticipation among audiences.
With filming set to begin soon, Attacker is shaping up to be one of the most eagerly awaited sports films in Tamil cinema. Combining the energy of competitive sports, youthful passion, and strong human emotions, the film is expected to set a new benchmark for sports-based storytelling in the industry.
