ஒரு திரைப்படம் ஒரு நடிகரின் திரைப்பயணத்தை மட்டுமல்ல, அவரது தனிப்பட்ட வாழ்க்கையையும் முழுமையாக மாற்றிவிடும் என்பதற்கு மிகப்பெரிய எடுத்துக்காட்டாக ‘பாகுபலி’ அமைந்துள்ளது. இந்திய சினிமாவின் வரலாற்றையே மாற்றியமைத்த ‘பாகுபலி: தி பிகினிங்’ திரைப்படம் வெளியாகி பத்து ஆண்டுகள் நிறைவடைந்துள்ள நிலையில், அந்த வெற்றியின் தாக்கம் இன்றும் தனது வாழ்க்கையில் தொடர்கிறது என்று நடிகர் பிரபாஸ் நெகிழ்ச்சியுடன் பகிர்ந்துள்ளார்.

‘Baahubali: The Torch Bearer’ வெளியீட்டை முன்னிட்டு அளித்த பேட்டியில், உலகின் எந்த நாட்டிற்குச் சென்றாலும் ரசிகர்கள் தன்னை ‘பாகுபலி’ என்றே அடையாளம் கண்டுகொள்வதாக பிரபாஸ் கூறியுள்ளார். மொழி, இனம், நாடு என்ற எல்லைகளைக் கடந்து அந்தக் கதாபாத்திரம் மக்களின் மனதில் நிலைத்திருப்பது தனக்கே ஆச்சரியமாக இருப்பதாகவும் அவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

இத்தாலியில் சுற்றுப்பயணம் மேற்கொண்டபோதும், தன்னைப் பார்த்தவர்கள் உடனடியாக அடையாளம் கண்டு உற்சாகமாக வரவேற்றதாகவும், சமூகப் பணிக்காக பெரு சென்றபோது அங்கிருந்த சிறுவர்கள் கூட ‘பாகுபலி’ மீது கொண்டிருந்த அன்பை வெளிப்படுத்தியதாகவும் அவர் நினைவுகூர்ந்தார். அந்த அனுபவங்கள் அனைத்தும் ஒரு இந்திய திரைப்படத்தின் உலகளாவிய வரவேற்பை உணர்த்திய தருணங்கள் என அவர் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

‘பாகுபலி’ வெற்றிக்குப் பிறகு தனது தனிப்பட்ட வாழ்க்கையும் முற்றிலுமாக மாறிவிட்டதாகக் கூறிய பிரபாஸ், “நான் ஒரு புதிய நாட்டில் விழித்தெழுந்தாலும் அங்கும் என்னை மக்கள் அடையாளம் கண்டுகொள்கிறார்கள். அதனால் நகைச்சுவையாக ராஜமௌலி சாரிடம், ‘இந்த ஜென்மத்தில் என்னை சுதந்திரமாக பயணம் செய்ய விடமாட்டீர்களா?’ என்று கேட்பேன். முன்பு ஓய்வாக மும்பை அல்லது டெல்லிக்கு செல்ல முடிந்தது. இப்போது உலகின் எந்த மூலையிலும் யாராவது ஒருவர் ‘பாகுபலி’ என்று அழைத்துவிடுகிறார்கள்,” என்று சிரிப்புடன் கூறினார்.

Speaking on the occasion of the release of Baahubali: The Torch Bearer, Prabhas opened up about how the iconic character transcended borders, languages, and cultures, making him one of the most recognized Indian actors across the globe.

The actor recalled heartwarming experiences from different parts of the world, revealing that people continue to identify him as “Baahubali” wherever he travels. Sharing one such memory, he said that people in Italy instantly recognized him, while children in Peru—where he had travelled for charity work—excitedly spoke about their love for Baahubali. According to Prabhas, those moments made him realize the extraordinary global reach of the film.

He also shared an amusing incident involving director S.S. Rajamouli. During a visit to Norway, a local first approached Rajamouli saying, “I think you’re a director,” before returning moments later to ask, “Are you the director of Baahubali?” Prabhas said the incident perfectly reflected how deeply the film had penetrated audiences across the world.

Reflecting on how Baahubali transformed his personal life, Prabhas revealed that travelling anonymously has become almost impossible. “I wake up in a new country, and people still recognize me. I jokingly call Rajamouli sir and ask, ‘Won’t you let me travel freely in this lifetime? Don’t I deserve a personal life?’ Earlier, I could escape to cities like Mumbai or Delhi for some privacy. That’s no longer possible. Wherever I go in the world, someone comes up and calls me ‘Baahubali’,” he said with a smile.

A decade after its release, Baahubali continues to stand as one of the greatest milestones in Indian cinema. More than just a blockbuster, it remains a cultural phenomenon that introduced Indian storytelling to a global audience.
