அதிகாரத்துக்கு அடிபணியாத ருத்ரா! ‘அக்கா’ தொடரில் இதுவரை பார்க்காத ராதிகா ஆப்தே!

‘ஃபோபியா’, ‘அந்தாதுன்’, ‘ஸ்கேர்ட் கேம்ஸ்’, ‘லஸ்ட் ஸ்டோரீஸ்’ போன்ற படைப்புகளில் தனது நடிப்பால் கவனம் ஈர்த்த ராதிகா ஆப்தே, ருத்ரா கதாபாத்திரம் தனக்கு ஒரு புதிய அனுபவமாக அமைந்துள்ளதாகக் கூறுகிறார்.

‘அக்கா’ தொடரின் டிரெய்லர், ராதிகா ஆப்தேவின் ருத்ராவுக்கும் கீர்த்தி சுரேஷின் பவானிக்கும் இடையிலான மோதலை முக்கியமாகக் காட்டுகிறது. ஆனால், இந்த மோதலை யார் அதிகாரத்தைக் கைப்பற்றுவது என்ற ஒற்றைக் கோணத்தில் மட்டும் பார்க்க முடியாது என்கிறார் ராதிகா.

“இந்தத் தொடரில் எனக்குப் பிடித்த விஷயம், கதாபாத்திரங்களுக்கு இடையிலான மோதல் வெறும் அதிகாரத்தைக் கைப்பற்றுவதற்கான போட்டியாக இல்லாததுதான். ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் தனித்தனி நம்பிக்கைகள் இருக்கின்றன. அவரவர் விசுவாசங்களும், வாழ்க்கையில் முக்கியம் என்று கருதும் விஷயங்களும் வேறுபடுகின்றன. அந்த வேறுபாடுகள்தான் கதையில் மோதல்களை உருவாக்குகின்றன” என்று அவர் விளக்குகிறார்.

தர்மராஜ் ஷெட்டி எழுதி இயக்கியுள்ள ‘அக்கா’ தொடரை யஷ் ராஜ் ஃபிலிம்ஸ் என்டர்டெயின்மென்ட் தயாரித்துள்ளது. ஆதித்யா சோப்ரா, யோகேந்திர மோக்ரே, அக்ஷய் விதானி ஆகியோர் நிர்வாகத் தயாரிப்புப் பொறுப்புகளை ஏற்றுள்ளனர்.

Radhika Apte on ‘Akka’: “Rudra Is Fascinating Because She Refuses to Play by the Rules”

Radhika Apte opens up about playing Rudra, a bold and unpredictable woman who challenges established power structures in the upcoming series ‘Akka’.

What happens when a woman who refuses to conform enters a city where power has been controlled by women for generations? This is the intriguing premise of Akka, a series set in the fictional city of Pernuru, where long-standing hierarchies and established rules shape the lives of its people. At the heart of the story is Rudra, played by Radhika Apte, a woman who has little interest in accepting the system as it is.

Known for her performances in Phobia, Andhadhun, Sacred Games and Lust Stories, Radhika Apte describes Rudra as a character unlike any she has portrayed before.

“Rudra never allows the circumstances she faces to define her identity. She is fearless, ambitious and unafraid to question an established power structure. That is what makes her such a fascinating character,” says the actress.

A Clash Driven by Beliefs, Not Just Power

The trailer for Akka highlights the conflict between Rudra and Bhavani, played by Keerthy Suresh. While their rivalry appears to be at the centre of the story, Apte believes the conflict goes far beyond a straightforward struggle for power.

“One of the things I really enjoyed about Akka is that the conflict is not simply about who gets to seize power. Each character is driven by a different set of beliefs and loyalties, as well as things that matter to them personally. These differences are what make the conflicts interesting,” she explains.

Unlike those who measure their actions against conventional ideas of right and wrong, Rudra follows her own beliefs and principles. Her approach stands in sharp contrast to Bhavani’s, creating a clash between two women with distinctly different perspectives and ways of navigating the world.

This ideological divide forms a central part of the series, adding depth to the rivalry and making the conflict more than just a battle for control.

A Strong Ensemble Cast Powers ‘Akka’

Written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, Akka is produced by Yash Raj Films Entertainment. Aditya Chopra, Yogendra Mogre and Akshay Widhani serve as executive producers.

The series features an ensemble cast that includes Radhika Apte, Keerthy Suresh, Tanvi Azmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Anshumaan Pushkar and Monica Panwar.

Hussain Dalal and Abbas Dalal have penned the dialogues, while John Stewart Eduri has composed the music. Sanyukta Kaza and Sahib Baxi are responsible for editing, with Lakshmi Keluskar handling production design and Sheetal Iqbal Sharma overseeing costume design. Sunil Rodrigues has choreographed the action sequences.

With its exploration of power, personal convictions and resistance to established rules, Akka promises a compelling clash of characters. All eyes will be on Radhika Apte as she steps into the role of Rudra, a woman determined to challenge the system rather than surrender to it.
