போட்டியில் பங்கேற்ற திரைப்படங்களின் கதை சொல்லும் திறன், படைப்பாற்றல் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்ப அம்சங்களின் அடிப்படையில் சிறந்த படைப்புகள் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டு விருதுகள் வழங்கப்பட்டன. ட்ரீம் ஹவுஸ் தயாரிப்பில், ஹுசைன் இயக்கிய ‘நிலவே வா’ திரைப்படம் முதல் பரிசைத் தட்டிச் சென்றது.

India’s First Vertical Film Festival Celebrates Emerging Filmmakers in Chennai; ₹2 Lakh in Prize Money Awarded

Over 200 films compete at the landmark event, recognising creativity and encouraging the next generation of filmmakers.

Chennai: Celebrating the evolving landscape of digital filmmaking and innovative storytelling, India’s first Vertical Film Festival and Awards Ceremony was held in grand style at SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Ramapuram, Chennai. Organised by ISM under the initiative of Simon Bose and Bob Suresh, the festival received an enthusiastic response, with more than 200 vertical films participating. Outstanding entries were recognised, with a total prize pool of ₹2 lakh awarded to the winners.

‘Nilave Vaa’ Wins First Prize

The participating films were evaluated on their creativity, technical excellence and storytelling approaches, with awards presented to recognise the filmmakers’ efforts and talent.

‘Nilave Vaa’, produced by Dream House and directed by Hussain, won the first prize.

The winner received ₹1 lakh, while the second prize carried ₹50,000 and the third prize ₹25,000. In addition, five special-category awards were presented, with each winner receiving ₹5,000.

Film Industry Personalities Grace the Event

The awards ceremony witnessed the participation of several prominent personalities from the film industry, including director Subramania Siva, director Haroon, actor Aadhavan, actress Subapriya and costume designer Srinisha, who attended as special guests.

Adding to the excitement, the trailer of ‘Fareed’, an upcoming film directed by Haroon, was screened exclusively for the audience. The trailer of ‘Death Railway’, directed by Dharani Rajendran, was also screened during the event.

Dealzta App Launched at the Festival

Another highlight of the event was the launch of the Dealzta app. By bringing together cinematic creativity and a new digital initiative, the festival extended its focus beyond filmmaking and highlighted emerging opportunities in the digital space.

The format encourages filmmakers to deliver engaging narratives within a shorter duration while exploring innovative visual techniques and creative approaches.

Against this backdrop, the ISM-organised festival aimed to provide a dedicated platform for emerging directors, actors, writers and technical professionals to showcase their abilities and gain recognition for their work.

The participation of more than 200 films highlighted the growing interest in this evolving format. By honouring promising filmmakers and rewarding creative excellence, the festival sought to encourage experimentation and support the next generation of talent in the film industry.
