மலையாள திரையுலகின் இரு ஜாம்பவான்களான மம்முட்டி மற்றும் மோகன்லால் 18 ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு மீண்டும் ஒரே படத்தில் இணைந்திருக்கும் “பேட்ரியாட்” திரைப்படம், ஜூன் 5 முதல் ZEE5 OTT தளத்தில் வெளியாகவுள்ளது. அரசியல், உளவு, தொழில்நுட்பம் மற்றும் மனித உணர்வுகளை மையமாகக் கொண்டு உருவாகியுள்ள இந்தப் படம், ரசிகர்கள் மத்தியில் பெரும் எதிர்பார்ப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.
புகழ்பெற்ற இயக்குநர் மகேஷ் நாராயணன் இயக்கியுள்ள இந்த திரைப்படம், ஒரு அதிநவீன அரசு கண்காணிப்பு அமைப்பை மையமாகக் கொண்டு நகர்கிறது. நாட்டின் பாதுகாப்பிற்காக உருவாக்கப்பட்ட தொழில்நுட்பம், பின்னர் பொதுமக்களை கட்டுப்படுத்தும் கருவியாக மாறும்போது ஏற்படும் விளைவுகளே கதையின் முக்கிய கருவாக அமைந்துள்ளது.
தான் உருவாக்க உதவிய அமைப்பே அதிகாரத்தின் ஆயுதமாக மாறுவதை உணரும் கதாநாயகன், அதற்கு எதிராக போராடத் தொடங்குகிறார். இந்தப் பயணத்தில் தேசபக்தி, பொறுப்பு, அதிகாரம், உண்மை மற்றும் துரோகம் ஆகியவற்றுக்கிடையிலான எல்லைகளை படம் கேள்விக்குள்ளாக்குகிறது.
மம்முட்டி மற்றும் மோகன்லாலுடன் இணைந்து நயன்தாரா, ஃபஹத் ஃபாசில், குஞ்சாக்கோ போபன் ஆகியோர் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரங்களில் நடித்துள்ளனர். மேலும் ரேவதி, ராஜீவ் மேனன், தர்ஷனா ராஜேந்திரன், ஸரின் ஷிஹாப் உள்ளிட்ட பலரும் முக்கிய துணை வேடங்களில் தோன்றுகின்றனர்.
படம் குறித்து இயக்குநர் மகேஷ் நாராயணன் கூறுகையில், “இன்றைய உலகில் தொழில்நுட்பம் மனிதர்களை பாதுகாக்கிறதா அல்லது கட்டுப்படுத்துகிறதா என்ற கேள்வியை ‘பேட்ரியாட்’ முன்வைக்கிறது. அதிகாரமும் உண்மையும் மோதும் தருணங்களை இந்தக் கதை ஆழமாக பதிவு செய்கிறது” என்றார்.
மம்முட்டி பேசுகையில், “அரசியல் பின்னணியுடன் இருந்தாலும், இது மனித மனசாட்சியைப் பற்றிய கதை. பார்வையாளர்களிடம் பல கேள்விகளை எழுப்பும் படமாக இது இருக்கும்” என்று தெரிவித்தார்.
மோகன்லால் கூறுகையில், “உண்மை மற்றும் அதிகாரம் இடையே நடைபெறும் மோதல்களை பேசும் இந்தப் படத்தில் மீண்டும் மம்முட்டியுடன் இணைந்து நடித்தது சிறப்பான அனுபவமாக இருந்தது” என்றார்.
மலையாளம் மட்டுமின்றி தமிழ், தெலுங்கு, இந்தி மற்றும் கன்னட மொழிகளிலும் வெளியாகும் ‘பேட்ரியாட்’, அரசியல் சதி மற்றும் டிஜிட்டல் கண்காணிப்பு குறித்த சமகால விவாதங்களை சினிமா மொழியில் பதிவு செய்யும் முக்கிய படைப்பாக இருக்கும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.

Mammootty and Mohanlal Reunite After 18 Years in ‘Patriot’; Political Conspiracy Thriller Set for OTT Premiere
The much-awaited political thriller Patriot, bringing together Malayalam cinema legends Mammootty and Mohanlal on screen after 18 years, is set to premiere on ZEE5 on June 5. The film, which blends politics, espionage, technology, and human emotions, has already generated significant anticipation among movie lovers.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan, Patriot revolves around a sophisticated government surveillance system. The story explores the consequences when technology designed to protect a nation is transformed into a tool for control and manipulation of ordinary citizens.
At the heart of the narrative is a man who helped build the surveillance system with the belief that it would safeguard the country. However, when he discovers it is being weaponized for intimidation, coercion, and political agendas, he is forced to confront the very system he once trusted. The film raises compelling questions about patriotism, responsibility, power, truth, and betrayal.
Alongside Mammootty and Mohanlal, the film features Nayanthara, Fahadh Faasil, and Kunchacko Boban in pivotal roles. The supporting cast includes Revathi, Rajiv Menon, Darshana Rajendran, and Zarina Shihab, among others.
Speaking about the film, director Mahesh Narayanan said, “Patriot reflects the anxieties of the times we live in. It examines whether technology is protecting people or becoming a mechanism of control. The story deeply explores the conflict between truth and authority.”

Releasing in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada, Patriot is expected to be a thought-provoking cinematic experience that addresses contemporary concerns surrounding political intrigue and digital surveillance.
The film will begin streaming exclusively on ZEE5 from June 5.
