“Reaching Out to People Is Not Stepping Down; It Is the Highest Position” – Atlee at ‘Baththa’ Success Meet
Producer Atlee’s speech at the success celebration of Baththa went beyond the usual words of appreciation, as he spoke about his larger vision for the film and his ambition to take Tamil cinema to the global stage.
Atlee said that the success of a film should not be measured only by its box-office performance. According to him, filmmakers and producers must also make sincere efforts to take good films to audiences across the world.
“Reaching out to people is not stepping down. I believe connecting with people is the highest position in the world,” Atlee said, stressing that a producer should not hesitate to step onto the ground and promote a film directly among audiences.
Speaking about Baththa, Atlee said he does not want to view the film merely as a commercial success. He wants the film to become an important attempt to showcase the strength of Tamil cinema on an international platform.
Drawing inspiration from Parasite, which created a global impact and went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, Atlee expressed his desire to take Baththa to the Oscars.
“I have always had big dreams from a young age. I dreamt of making a film with Shah Rukh Khan and achieving something that Hindi cinema had never achieved before. Some of those dreams have become a reality. In the same way, I dream of taking Baththa to the Oscars,” he said.
Atlee also appreciated the entire team for their contribution to the film and expressed his gratitude to music composer Arijit Singh for being part of the project. He said that every member of the team had worked sincerely and delivered their best.
Addressing questions about his relationship with actor Vijay, Atlee clarified that their bond should not be viewed through a political lens.
“Vijay Anna is my elder brother, and I am his younger brother. We share a bond of love. Please don’t look at it politically,” he said.
Overall, Atlee’s speech at the Baththa success meet was more than a celebration of the film’s achievement. It reflected his ambition to take Tamil cinema beyond commercial success and place a Tamil film on the global stage, including the Oscars.
