இதன் மூலம் மாணவர்கள் புத்தக அறிவை மட்டுமல்லாமல், தொழில்துறைக்கு நேரடியாகத் தேவையான திறன்களையும் பெறும் வகையில் கற்றல் அமைப்பு உருவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. குறிப்பாக செயற்கை நுண்ணறிவு, கிளவுட் கம்ப்யூட்டிங், உயர் செயல்திறன் கணினி (High Performance Computing), தரவு அறிவியல் உள்ளிட்ட துறைகளில் உலகளாவிய தரத்தில் பயிற்சி வழங்கப்படும் என தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

இந்த நோக்கத்திற்காக Intel Unnati, TCS iON, Microsoft மற்றும் Oracle Academy ஆகிய முன்னணி நிறுவனங்களுடன் இணைந்து தொழில்–கல்வி சிறப்பு மையங்கள் (Industry–Academia Centres of Excellence) அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. மாணவர்கள் படிக்கும் காலத்திலேயே தொழில்துறை அனுபவம் பெறும் வகையில் இந்த மையங்கள் செயல்படும்.

விழாவின் முக்கிய அம்சமாக, வேல்ஸ் பல்கலைக்கழகமும் துபாயைச் சேர்ந்த Aspin Holding Group நிறுவனமும் இணைந்து விமானக் கல்வி, விமானப் போக்குவரத்து, தொழில்துறை பயிற்சி, மாணவர் பரிமாற்றத் திட்டங்கள் மற்றும் சர்வதேச வேலைவாய்ப்பு வாய்ப்புகளை மேம்படுத்தும் புரிந்துணர்வு ஒப்பந்தத்தில் கையெழுத்திட்டன.

வேல்ஸ் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் நிறுவனர்-வேந்தர் டாக்டர் ஐசரி கே. கணேஷ் தனது உரையில், உயர்கல்வி என்பது பட்டப்படிப்பு வழங்கும் அமைப்பாக மட்டுமல்லாமல், புதுமை, ஆராய்ச்சி மற்றும் தொழில்முனைவை உருவாக்கும் மையமாக மாற வேண்டிய அவசியம் இருப்பதாகக் கூறினார்.

மேலும், Zoho நிறுவனத்தின் “Nation First” கொள்கையை பாராட்டிய அவர், பத்மஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீதர் வேம்பு உலக அரங்கில் தமிழரின் பாரம்பரிய உடையான வேட்டியை பெருமையுடன் அணிந்து தமிழர் பண்பாட்டை உயர்த்தி வருவது பாராட்டுக்குரியது என்றும் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

Sridhar Vembu Inaugurates India’s First AI-Integrated Vertical University Campus at Vels University

Chennai, July 11: In a significant milestone for India’s higher education sector, Vels University has inaugurated the country’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Integrated Vertical University Campus at Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai, setting a new benchmark for technology-driven education.

The state-of-the-art campus was inaugurated by Padma Shri Sridhar Vembu, Co-founder and Chief Scientist of Zoho Corporation, in the presence of distinguished national and international dignitaries. Among the special guests were Ahmed Meer Hashim Ahmed Khoory, Member of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates and Board Member of the Emirates Airline Foundation, and M.F. Raoof Ali, Managing Director of Dubai-based Economic Group Holdings LLC.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh, Founder-Chancellor of Vels University, while Dr. Preetha Ganesh, Vice President of Vels Educational Institutions, welcomed the gathering.

Located in Chennai’s rapidly growing IT corridor, the newly launched campus has been designed to integrate Artificial Intelligence into every aspect of higher education. Equipped with AI-powered classrooms, smart learning systems, cutting-edge laboratories, innovation hubs, digital libraries and world-class student facilities, the campus aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations.

To strengthen industry-academia collaboration, Vels University has established Centres of Excellence in partnership with Intel Unnati, TCS iON, Microsoft, and Oracle Academy. These centres will provide students with hands-on training in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, High Performance Computing (HPC), data-driven technologies and other future-ready skill sets.

A major highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Vels University and Dubai-based Aspin Holding Group. The partnership will focus on aviation education, aviation management, industrial training, student exchange programmes and expanding international career opportunities for students.

The university also announced that it will soon sign another strategic MoU with Zoho Corporation to collaborate in Artificial Intelligence, research, innovation, skill development and strengthening industry-academia partnerships.

Addressing students during an interactive session, Sridhar Vembu shared his insights on Artificial Intelligence, innovation, entrepreneurship and India’s technological future. He encouraged students to continuously build globally competitive skills and contribute to the nation’s growth through innovation and research.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh said that higher education must evolve alongside rapid technological advancements. He noted that the newly launched AI-Integrated Vertical Campus has been envisioned as a future-ready institution that nurtures innovation, research, entrepreneurship and advanced technical capabilities.

He also unveiled Vels University’s long-term expansion plans, including the development of a 350-acre integrated university campus at Tindivanam, expansion of the Periyapalayam Medical Campus, and further development of its Adyar and Hyderabad campuses, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to expanding quality higher education and research across India.

Dr. Ganesh also lauded Sridhar Vembu’s contributions to India’s technology ecosystem and praised Zoho’s “Nation First” philosophy and its collaboration with the Indian Armed Forces. Guest of Honour Ahmed Meer Hashim Ahmed Khoory congratulated Vels University on its remarkable growth and compared its journey to the success story of Emirates Airlines, which began operations in 1985 with only a handful of aircraft and has grown into one of the world’s leading airlines.

He also highlighted the strengthening relationship between India and the United Arab Emirates, expressing confidence that collaboration in education, aviation and innovation between the two nations would continue to grow.

In his keynote address, Sridhar Vembu praised the architectural excellence, futuristic vision and modern infrastructure of the Thiruvanmiyur campus. He stressed that India must become self-reliant in advanced technologies ranging from fundamental sciences to aerospace, Artificial Intelligence and digital innovation if it is to emerge as a global technology leader.

Reflecting on his recent visit to Japan, Vembu emphasized the importance of building indigenous capabilities in high-end technologies, including aircraft manufacturing. He also expressed Zoho’s interest in collaborating with Vels University across multiple domains and confirmed that an MoU focused on AI, research, innovation and skill development is expected to be signed soon.
