Producer M. Moorthy Backs a Different Kind of Story

Speaking at the film’s press meet, producer M. Moorthy revealed that he initially entered the film industry with dreams of becoming an actor but has now taken on the role of a producer.

He shared that he was immediately impressed by the unusual storyline narrated by director Theeran Arunkumar. Although the director had approached several other producers, Moorthy eventually decided to back the project himself and extend his full support to its production.

He admitted that there were initial concerns about how audiences would respond to such an unconventional subject. However, the encouragement he received from his wife and daughter strengthened his confidence in the project.

Expressing his confidence in the film, Moorthy said that Black Gold would stand out as a fresh attempt in Indian cinema. He also appreciated Vetri and the entire cast and technical crew for their dedication and commitment throughout the production.

Music composer Ghibran?

Music composer Gawaskar Avinash expressed his gratitude to the media fraternity and the entire team for their support. He revealed that Black Gold marks his second collaboration with actor Vetri and expressed confidence that the film would become an important turning point in the actor’s career.

He also praised Abhirami for her performance as a bold police officer in the film. Lyricist Mohan Rajan revealed that the film’s unusual subject immediately caught his attention. He has penned two songs for the film and particularly highlighted the emotional depth of the song ‘Vengaatu Bhoomiyile’.

Singer Ram also expressed his happiness at fulfilling his 16-year-long dream of singing for a feature film. He thanked director Theeran Arunkumar and producer M. Moorthy for giving him the opportunity.

Distributor Ibrahim Shares His Long Journey and Return to Cinema

One of the emotional highlights of the press meet was distributor Ibrahim’s account of his long-standing dream of entering the film industry.

He revealed that he had come to Chennai at the age of 21 with aspirations of becoming an actor but faced several hardships and eventually returned to his hometown after failing to secure opportunities.

However, his passion for cinema never faded. Now, at the age of 60, he has returned to the industry with renewed determination. He has acquired the distribution rights of Black Gold and also expressed his intention to venture into film production in the future.

Distributors J.R. Ramesh and Aadhava also expressed their confidence in the film and appealed to the media and audiences to extend their support.

Cast Members Share Their Experiences

Actors Janish, A. Venkatesh, Telephone Raj and actress Sabitha Rai shared their experiences of working on the film.

They appreciated the director’s attention to detail, the casting choices and the dedication shown by the entire team. Sabitha Rai revealed that she plays a character named Malli and expressed hope that the film would bring her greater recognition.

Director Theeran Arunkumar Overcomes Challenges to Bring His Vision to the Big Screen

Sharing the journey behind the film, director Theeran Arunkumar revealed that it took nearly five years after his debut film, Theerppugal Virkkappadum, for him to return with his second directorial venture.

He initially worked on developing a big-budget Telugu project, but despite progressing through several stages, the film could not take off. He subsequently returned to Tamil cinema with the determination to create a film based on a fresh and unconventional subject.

The director admitted that approaching producers with such a different storyline was challenging, as many were hesitant to invest in the project. However, producer M. Moorthy’s willingness to believe in the story and support the film became a major turning point.

He also revealed that the team encountered several obstacles during production, with many people doubting whether the film would be completed. Despite these challenges, the team remained committed and successfully completed the project, which is now ready for its theatrical release.

The director further explained that the film goes beyond its unusual subject by incorporating an emotional family narrative, particularly exploring the relationship between a father and his son.
