Produced jointly by Junglee Pictures and Dr. Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on September 18. The trailer of the film has now been unveiled, offering a tense and intriguing glimpse into a story where truth is never absolute and justice can be viewed from different perspectives.

Set against the backdrop of a crime that creates nationwide outrage, ‘Daayra’ follows the chain of events that unfolds after the incident triggers a high-profile investigation.

Kareena Kapoor Khan plays DCP Ajuini Kohli, a character that takes her into a territory she has not extensively explored earlier in her career.
Speaking about the film, Kareena said that one of the things she enjoyed most about working with Meghna Gulzar was the filmmaker’s ability to constantly question everything one assumes about a character.
She added that playing DCP Ajuini Kohli stayed with her long after the shoot because the role took her into an unexplored space. Kareena also expressed her happiness about sharing the screen with Prithviraj Sukumaran, describing him as a talented and intelligent actor.
Prithviraj Sukumaran as DCP Raman Kumar
Prithviraj Sukumaran plays DCP Raman Kumar, a character whose outward calm conceals considerable complexity.
According to Prithviraj, it was the complexity behind Raman Kumar’s composed exterior and the questions he encounters during the investigation that drew him towards the role.
The actor also expressed his appreciation for Meghna Gulzar’s filmmaking and said that getting an opportunity to work with her was a memorable experience. He further added that working alongside Kareena made the journey even more special.

Director Meghna Gulzar describes ‘Daayra’ as a story that cannot be comfortably divided into two clear sides of black and white.

She described ‘Daayra’ as a crime thriller built around conflicts, moral dilemmas, difficult choices and two powerful perspectives. She also expressed her excitement about collaborating with Pen Studios and reuniting with Meghna Gulzar for the third time after ‘Talvar’ and ‘Raazi’.
Pen Studios CMD Dr. Jayantilal Gada said that a film becomes more interesting when it not only entertains audiences but also asks the right questions. He praised Meghna Gulzar’s ability to tell deep and emotionally resonant stories with restraint and highlighted the performances of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
