அறிமுக இயக்குநர் ஹரிஷ் துரைராஜ், பல ஆண்டுகளாக சினிமா உலகில் கற்ற அனுபவத்தை ஒரு திரைப்படமாக வடிவமைத்திருக்கிறார். இந்தப் படத்தைப் பற்றி பேசிய அனைவரின் உரைகளிலும் பொதுவாக ஒலித்த ஒரு வார்த்தை — “நம்பிக்கை”. ஹரிஷின் நம்பிக்கையும், அவர் தனது கதையின் மீது வைத்திருந்த உறுதியும் தான் ‘கான் சிட்டி’ உருவாக முக்கிய காரணம் என படக்குழுவினர் ஒருமித்த கருத்தை வெளிப்படுத்தினர்.

“Debt, Money, Dreams and Laughter… ‘Kon City’ Reflects the Journey of Young Filmmakers Who Turned Their Vision into Reality”

Some films are made purely for entertainment. Others are born from years of dreams, struggles, faith, and perseverance. Going by the emotions shared at its trailer launch and press meet, the upcoming film “Kon City”, slated for release on June 26, belongs firmly in the latter category.

Held in Chennai, the event was far more than a promotional gathering. It became a celebration of a remarkable journey, as the cast and crew opened up about the passion and determination that went into bringing the film to life.

At the heart of this journey is debut director Harish Durairaj, who has transformed years of experience and observation into a cinematic world of his own. One word echoed throughout the event: belief. Members of the team repeatedly highlighted Harish’s unwavering confidence in his story and his determination to see it through, describing it as the driving force behind the film’s creation.

Actor Arjun Das, regarded by many in the team as one of the pillars of the project, is expected to showcase a completely new dimension of his talent in the film. Having already won audiences over with memorable performances in acclaimed films, he is now set to take a significant step forward with “Kaan City.”

Actress Anna Ben revealed that her role in the film is unlike anything she has attempted before. She admitted that she was initially nervous about portraying such a different character but credited the director’s confidence in her abilities for helping her embrace the challenge.

Veteran actress Vadivukkarasi shared that she agreed to be part of the project after listening to the narration for more than two hours. She was deeply impressed by the storytelling and immediately felt connected to the film’s vision.

The film also features Yogi Babu in a key role. The actor expressed his happiness at seeing Harish realize a dream he had nurtured for years and stated that “Kaan City” marks only the beginning of what he believes will be a long and successful directorial journey.

Music composer Sean Roldan described the project as one of the most meaningful works of his career. He spoke with particular pride about two unreleased songs, revealing that they were inspired by the philosophical spirit of classic Tamil cinema and hold a special place in his musical journey.

The film’s technical crew—including cinematographer Aravind Viswanathan, editor Arul Moses, art director Rajkamal, costume designer Nava, and choreographer Santhosh—highlighted the collaborative spirit that defined the production. They described the entire team as a family and emphasized that the film’s completion within just 55 shooting days was a testament to their collective dedication.

Producers Sidhu Nair and Arun Prajith Manoharan revealed that they were convinced of the film’s potential from the very first narration. The strength of the story and the director’s conviction inspired them to invest in and support the project.

At its core, “Kon City” revolves around a fascinating premise. A debt-ridden family unexpectedly comes into possession of a money-printing machine, setting off a chain of events filled with comedy, suspense, emotion, and unexpected twists. Shot across locations including Mangaluru, Chennai, and Mumbai, the film has already generated significant buzz. Its digital streaming rights have been acquired by Netflix, further increasing anticipation among audiences.
