Sitarist Anoushka Shankar Performs at Proms for the World Premiere of Music from Her Three ‘Chapter’ Albums, Stuns in a Custom Creation by Amit Aggarwal
Multi-Grammy-nominated sitarist and composer Anoushka Shankar made a graceful appearance on Proms for the world premiere performance of music from her three ‘Chapter’ albums, highlighting her musical and geographical journeys. She was joined by Robert Ames and the London Contemporary Orchestra for new orchestral arrangements of her trilogy, Forever, For Now, How Dark It Is Before Dawn, and We Return To Light.
Anoushka made a stunning appearance in a custom creation by Amit Aggarwal. Taking to her social media handle, she shared a series of clicks from the event, and also penned a warm note about donning the custom ensemble and wearing her mother’s heirloom jewellery.
Anoushka wrote, “Your girl is on TV tonight! Details below, but first! A moment for the outfit, because, well, look at it…It’s hard to explain how rare it is to find clothes that feel this beautiful for stage, whilst allowing me zero distractions and total freedom of movement to play at my best. I’m so deeply grateful to @amitaggarwalofficial and his team for this extraordinary, custom creation. I could fly on my instrument with no straps, skirts or fussy details holding me back!”
She added, “Huge love to my mother whose heirloom jewellery I wore with such pride, to @rolex, whose watch helped me time that crazy hour before the live-on-radio showtime to the last second, and @chessthornton and @hair_by_mella_ for glam. Shoutout @starkkar for our self-styling skills! ☺️ 📺 Watch the world-premiere of Chapters, my Prom with @robertamesmusic and the @lcorchestra, live on BBC4 tonight at 8pm, or catch it streaming on @bbciplayer afterwards! 💫 You can also hear the radio broadcast on @bbcsounds ✨”
