வட அமெரிக்க தமிழ் சங்க விழாவில் கவனம் ஈர்த்த ‘திருக்குறள் 2’ மாதிரி காட்சி; அறம் குறித்து புதிய விவாதத்தை உருவாக்கிய படக்குழு

அமெரிக்காவில் நடைபெற்ற வட அமெரிக்க தமிழ் சங்க பேரவையின் (FeTNA) ஆண்டு திருவிழாவில், தமிழின் பெருமையை எடுத்துரைக்கும் ‘திருக்குறள்’ திரைப்படமும், அதன் இரண்டாம் பாகத்தின் பிரத்யேக மாதிரி காட்சியும் திரையிடப்பட்டு பார்வையாளர்களின் வரவேற்பைப் பெற்றது.

‘காமராஜ்’, ‘வெல்கம் பேக் காந்தி’ உள்ளிட்ட திரைப்படங்களை தயாரித்த ரமணா கம்யூனிகேஷன்ஸ் நிறுவனம், கடந்த ஆண்டு ‘திருக்குறள்’ திரைப்படத்தை வெளியிட்டது. எழுத்தாளர்-இயக்குநர் A.J. பாலகிருஷ்ணன் இயக்கிய அந்த திரைப்படம் திருக்குறளின் அறச்சிந்தனைகளை மையமாகக் கொண்டு உருவாக்கப்பட்டது.

அதன் தொடர்ச்சியாக, முதல் பாகத்தில் இடம்பெறாத பல்வேறு கருத்துகளையும், இன்றைய சமூகச் சூழலோடு தொடர்புபடுத்தி வெளிப்படுத்தும் வகையில் இரண்டாம் பாகம் தற்போது தயாராகி வருகிறது. இந்த திரைப்படம் “Once Upon a Time in Hindustan” என்ற ஆங்கிலத் தலைப்பில் உருவாகி வருகிறது.

முதல் பாகத்தில் வள்ளுவராக நடித்த கலைச்சோழனும், வாசுகியாக நடித்த தனலட்சுமியும் இரண்டாம் பாகத்திலும் தங்களது கதாபாத்திரங்களைத் தொடர்கின்றனர். மேலும் பல புதிய நடிகர்கள் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்பக் கலைஞர்களும் இப்படத்தில் இணைந்துள்ளனர்.

VIT வேந்தரும், தமிழியக்கம் தலைவருமான டாக்டர் ஜி. விசுவநாதன் வழங்க, ரமணா கம்யூனிகேஷன்ஸ் நிறுவனம் இப்படத்தை தயாரிக்கிறது. தயாரிப்புப் பணிகளில் டி.பி. இராஜேந்திரன் இணைந்துள்ளார். முதல் பாகத்திற்கு ஒளிப்பதிவு செய்த எட்வின் சகாய், இரண்டாம் பாகத்திற்கும் ஒளிப்பதிவு செய்கிறார்.

தற்போது படப்பிடிப்பு நடைபெற்று வரும் நிலையில், வட அமெரிக்க தமிழ் சங்கத் திருவிழாவில் ‘திருக்குறள்’ திரைப்படம் திரையிடப்பட்டதுடன், அதன் இரண்டாம் பாகமான “Once Upon a Time in Hindustan” திரைப்படத்தின் நான்கு நிமிட மாதிரி காட்சியும் முதன்முறையாக வெளியிடப்பட்டது.

அந்த மாதிரி காட்சியில் இடம்பெற்ற அறம் சார்ந்த கருத்துகளும், காட்சியமைப்பும் பார்வையாளர்களிடையே சிந்தனையைத் தூண்டியதாக கூறப்படுகிறது. குறிப்பாக, இன்றைய நவீன உலகில் இத்தகைய அறவாழ்வு சாத்தியமா என்ற கேள்வியை பலரும் இயக்குநர் A.J. பாலகிருஷ்ணனிடம் எழுப்பியதாக தகவல்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.

இதற்கு பதிலளித்த இயக்குநர், “நாகரிகம் மாறலாம்… மனிதர்களின் செயல்களும் எண்ணங்களும் மாறலாம்… ஆனால் அறம் என்ற மதிப்பு எந்தக் காலத்திலும் மாறாது. அதைத்தான் இந்தப் படம் வலியுறுத்துகிறது” என்று தெரிவித்தார்.

தமிழ் இலக்கியத்தின் காலத்தால் அழியாத அறவழி சிந்தனைகளை உலகளாவிய பார்வையாளர்களிடம் கொண்டு செல்லும் முயற்சியாக உருவாகி வரும் இந்த திரைப்படம், தற்போது திரையுலகிலும் தமிழ் இலக்கிய ஆர்வலர்களிடமும் எதிர்பார்ப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.

 

‘Thirukkural 2’ Preview Stuns Tamil Audience in North America; Moral Themes Spark Wide Discussion

A special preview of the upcoming sequel to Thirukkural, titled “Once Upon a Time in Hindustan,” captivated audiences during the Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America (FeTNA) convention held in the United States.

The event featured a screening of the original Thirukkural film, followed by an exclusive four-minute preview of its sequel. The glimpse reportedly left the audience deeply impressed, with its powerful visual storytelling and thought-provoking exploration of moral values.

Produced by Ramana Communications, the banner behind films such as Kamaraj and Welcome Back Gandhi, the original Thirukkural was released last year under the direction of A. J. Balakrishnan. Building on the themes of the first film, the sequel aims to explore several additional philosophical ideas inspired by the timeless teachings of the Thirukkural.

The film is being produced in English under the title “Once Upon a Time in Hindustan.” Actors Kalaichozhan, who portrayed Thiruvalluvar, and Dhanalakshmi, who played Vasuki in the first film, reprise their respective roles, alongside a new ensemble cast and technical crew.

The project is presented by Dr. G. Viswanathan, Founder and Chancellor of VIT and President of Tamiliyyakkam. Veteran filmmaker T. P. Rajendran has also joined the production. Cinematographer Edwin Sakay, who handled the visuals for the first film, returns for the sequel, which is written and directed by A. J. Balakrishnan.

With production currently underway, the exclusive preview shown at the North American Tamil convention generated significant interest among attendees. The moral and ethical themes portrayed in the footage prompted several viewers to question whether such ideals are practical in today’s modern world.

Responding to these questions, director A. J. Balakrishnan said, “Civilizations may evolve, human actions and thoughts may change, but righteousness never changes. That is the central message of this film.”

The sequel aims to present the timeless wisdom of the Thirukkural through a contemporary cinematic narrative, introducing its universal message of virtue and ethics to audiences across the globe.
