Chennai: Actor Unni Mukundan, who has emerged as one of Malayalam cinema’s prominent pan-India stars following the success of Marco, is all set to embark on a new chapter in his career. The actor will make his directorial debut with his 50th film, for which he is also serving as the writer.

The upcoming Malayalam film is being jointly produced by Panorama Studios, headed by National Award-winning producers Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak, and Unni Mukundan Films (UMF). This marks the first collaboration between the two production houses, with the makers aiming to create a compelling Malayalam film that will appeal to audiences across India.

Unni Mukundan has steadily carved a niche for himself by taking on diverse roles and exploring different genres throughout his career. His production venture, Unni Mukundan Films, also established its identity by backing content-driven films.

The journey began with Meppadiyan, which went on to receive a National Award. Following the pan-India success and recognition of Marco, Unni Mukundan has now chosen his milestone 50th film to take on the additional responsibilities of writer and director.

The film is expected to feature an action-packed and engaging narrative, with the makers planning to present it on a scale that reaches audiences across multiple languages and regions.

Panorama Studios, one of India’s leading production houses, has backed several critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, including Omkara, Special 26, Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Raid, Shaitaan and the blockbuster Drishyam franchise.

The production house has also received more than 50 major awards for its body of work. Abhishek Pathak’s Drishyam 2 was widely appreciated, and he is currently directing and producing the highly anticipated Drishyam: The Conclusion, which is scheduled to release in theatres on October 2.

With this new collaboration, Panorama Studios and Unni Mukundan Films are coming together for the first time, combining their respective strengths to create a Malayalam film with a pan-India vision.
