இந்த ஆவணப்படத்திற்கு நடிகர் அரவிந்த் சுவாமி பின்னணிக் குரல் கொடுத்துள்ளார். அவரது கம்பீரமான மற்றும் தனித்துவமான குரல், தமிழ்நாட்டின் இயற்கை உலகை பார்வையாளர்களிடம் நெருக்கமாக கொண்டு செல்லும் வகையில் அமைந்துள்ளது.

Bringing this fascinating natural world to cinema audiences is the upcoming wildlife documentary Wild Tamil Nadu, which will release in PVR Cinemas across Tamil Nadu from September 7.

The one-hour documentary promises to take audiences on an immersive journey through Tamil Nadu’s spectacular landscapes and wildlife, offering a cinematic experience that showcases the state’s biodiversity like never before.

Four Years of Dedication Behind the Documentary

Wild Tamil Nadu is the result of four years of extensive fieldwork and wildlife documentation across different parts of the state. The film brings together stunning visuals captured over several years to present Tamil Nadu’s ecological richness and the incredible diversity of life that thrives across its landscapes.

The documentary has been produced as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of Sundram Fasteners Ltd., in collaboration with Nature inFocus, with the support of the Tamil Nadu Forest Department.

The project aims not only to celebrate Tamil Nadu’s natural heritage but also to create greater awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation and environmental protection.

A Journey Through Tamil Culture’s Five Landscapes

One of the most distinctive aspects of Wild Tamil Nadu is its connection to the ancient Tamil concept of the Five Landscapes or Ainthinai, described in Sangam literature.

The documentary explores the state’s biodiversity through:

• Kurinji – Mountains
• Mullai – Forests
• Marutham – Agricultural lands
• Neithal – Coastal regions
• Palai – Arid landscapes

Each of these ecosystems supports a unique range of flora and fauna. Through this narrative framework, Wild Tamil Nadu beautifully connects Tamil Nadu’s ancient literary heritage with its living natural environment.

From Elephants and Leopards to Rare Wildlife

The documentary features several familiar animals such as elephants and leopards, while also shining a spotlight on lesser-known and rarely seen species.

Among the wildlife featured are the endangered lion-tailed macaque, fireflies and the elusive Madras hedgehog. The film captures the natural behaviour, habitats and survival stories of these animals, giving audiences an intimate look into a world that often remains hidden from human view.

Wild Tamil Nadu has been directed by acclaimed wildlife and nature documentary filmmaker Kalyan Varma.

Popular actor Arvind Swami has lent his distinctive voice to the documentary as the narrator, guiding audiences through Tamil Nadu’s extraordinary natural landscapes and wildlife.

The film’s music has been composed by three-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej, who has blended elements of Carnatic music with Western instrumentation to create a distinctive soundscape that complements the visuals.

A talented team of wildlife cinematographers from South India spent several years working in challenging field conditions to capture the documentary’s spectacular footage.
