இன்றைய தலைமுறைக்கு காதல் என்றால் பல்வேறு வழிகள் இருக்கலாம். ஆனால் 90-களில் ஒரு காதல் மலர்வதற்கே பல நாட்கள் காத்திருக்க வேண்டும். பள்ளிக்கு வருவதன் பின்னணியில் ஒரு முகத்தைப் பார்க்க வேண்டும் என்ற ஆசை இருக்கும். எதிர்பாராமல் சந்தித்துவிட்டால் அந்த நாள் முழுவதும் மனதில் மகிழ்ச்சி நிறைந்திருக்கும். இப்படியான எளிமையான, அழகான உணர்வுகள்தான் இந்தத் தொடரின் முக்கியக் கரு.

1990-களின் திருச்சியைப் பின்னணியாகக் கொண்டு உருவாகியுள்ள இத்தொடரில் கௌதம் கதாபாத்திரத்தில் Muzzamil Elias, காயத்ரி கதாபாத்திரத்தில் Yuva நடித்துள்ளனர். பள்ளிப் பருவத்தில் ஒரு சிறிய குறும்பின் மூலம் தொடங்கும் இவர்களது நட்பு, மெல்ல மெல்ல காதலாக மாறுகிறது. அந்தக் காதலை வெளிப்படுத்த முடியாமல் தவிப்பது, எதிர்பார்ப்புகளுடன் நாட்களைக் கடத்துவது, காதல் கைகூடும் என்ற நம்பிக்கை, புரிதல் இல்லாததால் ஏற்படும் வலி என இளமைப் பருவத்தின் பல்வேறு உணர்வுகளையும் கதை பதிவு செய்கிறது.

இந்தத் தொடரைப் பற்றி இயக்குநர் மித்ரன் ஆர். ஜவஹர் கூறுகையில், “90-களின் வாழ்க்கை முறையிலும், அன்றைய நட்பு, குடும்பம், உறவுகளிலும் தனித்துவமான அழகு இருந்தது. அந்தக் காலத்தின் இனிமையான நினைவுகளை மீண்டும் பார்வையாளர்களிடம் கொண்டு சேர்க்க வேண்டும் என்பதுதான் இந்தத் தொடரை உருவாக்கியதன் நோக்கம். இதைப் பார்க்கும் ஒருவர் தனது பழைய நண்பர்களையோ, மறக்க முடியாத பள்ளிப் பருவ நினைவுகளையோ புன்னகையுடன் நினைத்துப் பார்த்தால் அதுவே எனக்குப் பெரிய மகிழ்ச்சி” என்று தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

A Nostalgic Journey Back to First Love! Sony VIZHA Brings the Magic of the 90s Alive with ‘Notebook 90s – Kadhal Flashback’

A stolen glance, a shy smile, a secret friendship and the excitement of seeing someone special at school – these little moments made first love in the 90s truly unforgettable. Bringing back the innocence, charm and emotions of those beautiful days, Sony VIZHA is all set to present its new series, ‘Notebook 90s – Kadhal Flashback’.

Set in the vibrant backdrop of 1990s Tiruchirappalli, the series takes viewers back to a time when love was expressed through innocent gestures, silent glances and unspoken feelings. Unlike today, falling in love during the 90s meant waiting eagerly to catch a glimpse of that special person in the classroom or cherishing a brief encounter for days.

The story revolves around Gautham, played by Muzzamil Elias, and Gayathri, portrayed by Yuva. What begins as a playful prank during their school days gradually blossoms into their first love. As their friendship turns into something deeper, the two experience the excitement of falling in love, the hesitation to express their feelings, the hope of being accepted, misunderstandings and the pain of separation.

Adding another emotional dimension to the narrative, Bhavana makes a special appearance as the older Gayathri, connecting memories of her youthful romance with her present-day life. Through this narrative, the series explores how certain moments from our teenage years remain close to our hearts, even after many years.

Speaking about the series, director Mithran R. Conceptualised by filmmaker Mithran R. Jawahar, the series is directed by Sadasivam and written by Neelan. With its focus on the lifestyle, simplicity and cultural charm of the 1990s, the show captures the innocence of school friendships, the excitement of first love and the unforgettable emotions of growing up.
