ஷாங்காய் சர்வதேச திரைப்பட விழாவில் ‘காளிதாஸ் 2’ – உலக அரங்கில் தமிழ் திரில்லருக்கு கிடைத்த கவுரவம்

முன்னணி சர்வதேச திரைப்பட விழாக்களில் ஒன்றாகக் கருதப்படும் 28-வது ஷாங்காய் சர்வதேச திரைப்பட விழாவில் (SIFF 2026) தமிழ் திரைப்படமான ‘காளிதாஸ் 2’ திரையிடப்பட்டிருப்பது, தமிழ்த் திரைப்பட உலகிற்கு மேலும் ஒரு பெருமையைச் சேர்த்துள்ளது.

ஜூன் 12 முதல் 21 வரை சீனாவின் ஷாங்காயில் நடைபெற்ற இந்த திரைப்பட விழாவின் சிறப்புத் திரையிடல்கள் ஜூன் 28 வரை நகரின் பல்வேறு திரையரங்குகளில் இடம்பெற்றன. உலகின் பல்வேறு நாடுகளைச் சேர்ந்த திரைப்பட இயக்குநர்கள், தயாரிப்பாளர்கள், விநியோகஸ்தர்கள், விமர்சகர்கள் மற்றும் திரையுலக ஆர்வலர்கள் பங்கேற்ற இந்த சர்வதேச மேடையில், இந்தியாவிலிருந்து தேர்வான ஏழு திரைப்படங்களில் ஒன்றாக ‘காளிதாஸ் 2’ இடம்பிடித்துள்ளது. மேலும், தென்னிந்தியாவிலிருந்து தேர்வான ஒரே திரைப்படமாக இது அமைந்துள்ளது என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

முதல் பாகத்தின் வெற்றியைத் தொடர்ந்து உருவான ‘காளிதாஸ் 2’ திரைப்படத்தை இயக்குநர் ஸ்ரீ செந்தில் இயக்கியுள்ளார். நடிகர் பரத் கதாநாயகனாக நடித்துள்ள இப்படத்தில் அஜய் கார்த்தி, சங்கீதா, பவானி ஸ்ரீ, அபர்ணிதி உள்ளிட்டோர் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரங்களில் நடித்துள்ளனர்.

இப்படத்திற்கு சாம் சி.எஸ். இசையமைத்துள்ளார். சுரேஷ் பாலா ஒளிப்பதிவை மேற்கொண்டுள்ள நிலையில், புவன் ஸ்ரீனிவாசன் படத்தொகுப்பை கவனித்துள்ளார். கூடுதல் திரைக்கதையை அரவிந்த் ஆனந்த் எழுதியுள்ளார்.

ஸ்கை பிக்சர்ஸ் நிறுவனம் சார்பில் தயாரிப்பாளர்களான ஃபைவ் ஸ்டார் செந்தில் மற்றும் டாக்டர் என். யோகேஸ்வரன் இணைந்து தயாரித்துள்ள இந்த திரைப்படம், திரையரங்குகளில் வெளியானபோது ரசிகர்கள் மற்றும் விமர்சகர்களிடையே நல்ல வரவேற்பைப் பெற்றது.

‘Kalidas 2’ Screens at Shanghai International Film Festival, Bringing Global Recognition to Tamil Cinema

Tamil thriller Kalidas 2 earns international acclaim with its selection at one of Asia’s most prestigious film festivals.

Kalidas 2, the sequel to the critically acclaimed Tamil investigative thriller Kalidas, has achieved another significant milestone by being officially screened at the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF 2026), one of Asia’s largest and most prestigious film festivals.

Held in Shanghai, China, from June 12 to June 21, with special screenings continuing until June 28, the festival brought together filmmakers, producers, distributors, critics, and cinema enthusiasts from across the globe. Among the seven Indian films selected for screening this year, Kalidas 2 stood out as the only film from South India, marking a proud moment for both the filmmakers and the Tamil film industry.

Directed by Sri Senthil, who also helmed the first installment, Kalidas 2 stars Bharath in the lead role alongside Ajay Karthi, Sangeetha, Bhavani Sre, and Aparnathi in pivotal roles.

The film features music composed by Sam C.S., cinematography by Suresh Bala, and editing by Bhuvan Srinivasan. The additional screenplay has been written by Aravind Anand.

Produced by Five Star Senthil and Dr. N. Yogeswaran under the banner of Sky Pictures, Kalidas 2 received widespread appreciation from both audiences and critics during its theatrical release for its gripping narrative and technical finesse.
