சென்னை: மகாபாரதத்தில் எத்தனை வீரர்கள் இருந்தாலும், கர்ணனுக்கென்று தனி இடம் உண்டு. பிறப்பால் கிடைத்த அடையாளத்தைவிட, வாழ்க்கையில் தான் தேர்ந்தெடுத்த நட்புக்கும் கொடுத்த வாக்குக்கும் முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுத்தவன் கர்ணன். அந்த கதாபாத்திரத்தை மையமாக வைத்து, பிரம்மாண்டமான சினிமா அனுபவமாக உருவாகி வருகிறது ‘மஹாவீர் கர்ணா’.

‘Mahaveer Karna’ to Hit Screens on December 4, 2026 – A Grand Epic of a Warrior Who Stood by His Word!
Chennai: Among the many legendary warriors of the Mahabharata, Karna holds a unique place in the hearts of audiences. More than the identity he was born with, Karna valued the relationships he chose, the friendships he honoured, and the promises he made. Bringing this iconic character to the big screen in a grand new format is ‘Mahaveer Karna’, which is gearing up for a pan-India theatrical release.
Presented by Jayantilal Gada and produced jointly by Pen Movies, Sri Neeladri Productions and RV Studios, the film is directed by blockbuster filmmaker Ramesh Varma, known for films such as Ratsasan and Khiladi.
While Karna’s story has been explored in several works over the years, ‘Mahaveer Karna’ takes a distinct approach by looking beyond the grandeur of the Mahabharata and focusing on the deeply human emotions surrounding the character — identity, rejection, friendship, loyalty, honour, destiny and the price of keeping one’s word.
Born to Kunti, Karna was denied the royal identity that came with his birth and grew up facing rejection and struggles at every stage of his life. Yet, his gratitude towards those who accepted him and his unwavering commitment to the promises he made became the defining aspects of his character.
This is what continues to make Karna one of the most fascinating figures in Indian mythology. He is remembered not merely as a formidable warrior, but as a man who was willing to face the consequences of his choices rather than compromise on his word. This human and emotional dimension forms the heart of ‘Mahaveer Karna’.
A New Visual Experience with Hybrid Live-Action
One of the film’s major highlights is its hybrid live-action format, which combines the emotional impact and realism of live-action filmmaking with the scale and possibilities of modern visual effects.
From vast battlefields and royal kingdoms to warriors and legendary weapons, the film aims to create a spectacular world inspired by the Mahabharata. At the centre of this visual grandeur, however, remains Karna’s personal journey and his inner conflict.
The teaser has already offered a glimpse into this ambitious world. While the grand visuals, warriors and battle sequences capture attention, the emotional core of the character — particularly his determination to stand by his word — remains central to the presentation.
A Strong Technical Team
The film brings together an experienced technical team. Ramji Dot serves as the cinematographer and hybrid creator, while Praveen Pudi is handling the editing. Srimani has penned the dialogues, with Gnani composing the music. Gandhi Nadukudikar is the art director.
‘Mahaveer Karna’ is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious films in director Ramesh Varma’s career.
