தமிழ்த் திரைப்படத் தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் சங்கம் மற்றும் தமிழ்த் திரைப்பட நடப்பு தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் சங்கம் இணைந்து நடத்திய ஆலோசனைக் கூட்டத்தில், செப்டம்பர் 1, 2026 முதல் புதிய தமிழ்த் திரைப்படங்களை திரையரங்குகளில் வெளியிடுவதில்லை என அதிரடி முடிவு எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
மேலும், படப்பிடிப்பு பணிகள் மற்றும் போஸ்ட் புரொடக்ஷன் பணிகளையும் நிறுத்துவது என தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் சங்கங்கள் கூட்டாக தீர்மானித்துள்ளன.
சென்னை அண்ணாசாலையில் உள்ள பிலிம் சேம்பர் வளாகத்தில் ஆகஸ்ட் 22-ம் தேதி காலை 11 மணியளவில் நடைபெற்ற இந்தக் கூட்டத்தில், தமிழ்த் திரைப்படத் தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் சங்கம் மற்றும் தமிழ்த் திரைப்பட நடப்பு தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் சங்கத்தின் நிர்வாகிகள் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.
கூட்டத்தில், தமிழக திரையரங்க உரிமையாளர்கள் சங்கம் மற்றும் தமிழ்நாடு திரைப்பட விநியோகஸ்தர்கள் சங்க கூட்டமைப்பு ஆகியவை தயாரிப்பாளர்களுடன் கலந்தாலோசிக்காமல் தனிச்சையாக எடுத்துள்ள முடிவுகள் குறித்து விரிவாக ஆலோசிக்கப்பட்டது. தயாரிப்பாளர்களின் நலனை கருத்தில் கொள்ளாமல் எடுக்கப்பட்ட இந்த முடிவை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள முடியாது என கூட்டத்தில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
தற்போது ஆண்டுக்கு சுமார் 250 தமிழ்த் திரைப்படங்கள் வெளியாகி வருகின்றன. ஆனால், பெரும்பாலான திரைப்படங்களில் தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் தங்களது முதலீட்டில் பாதியைக் கூட திரும்பப் பெற முடியாத நிலை உள்ளது. இதனால், ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் தயாரிப்பாளர்களுக்கு ரூ.700 கோடிக்கும் மேல் பொருளாதார இழப்பு ஏற்பட்டு வருவதாகவும் அறிக்கையில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இவ்வளவு பெரிய இழப்புகளை சந்தித்தாலும், தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் தொடர்ந்து திரைப்படங்களை தயாரித்து வருகிறார்கள். இந்த சூழ்நிலையில், தயாரிப்பாளர்களின் பிரச்சினைகளை கருத்தில் கொள்ளாமல் தனிச்சையாக முடிவுகள் எடுக்கப்படுவதை கண்டித்து, வருகிற செப்டம்பர் 1, 2026 முதல் புதிய தமிழ்த் திரைப்படங்களை திரையரங்குகளில் வெளியிடுவதில்லை என தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் முடிவு செய்துள்ளனர்.
அதேபோல், திரையரங்குகளில் வெளியாகும் திரைப்படங்களை 8 வாரங்கள் கழித்தே OTT தளங்களில் வெளியிடுவது என்றும் தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
மேலும், தற்போதைய பிரச்சினைக்கு சுமுகமான தீர்வு காணும் வகையில், இந்த விவகாரத்தை தமிழக முதலமைச்சரின் கவனத்திற்கு கொண்டு செல்வதுடன், சம்பந்தப்பட்ட துறை அமைச்சரிடமும் எடுத்துரைத்து, தமிழக அரசு மூலம் உரிய தீர்வு காண வேண்டும் என தயாரிப்பாளர்கள் சங்கங்கள் வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளன.
தயாரிப்பாளர்களின் நலன் மற்றும் தமிழ் திரைப்படத் துறையின் எதிர்காலத்தை கருத்தில் கொண்டு எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ள இந்த முடிவுக்கு அனைத்து தரப்பினரும் ஒத்துழைக்க வேண்டும் என்றும் சங்க நிர்வாகிகள் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.
No New Tamil Films to Release from September 1!
Producers decide to halt shooting and post-production activities as well
Chennai:
Amid growing concerns over the financial challenges faced by film producers and various issues affecting the Tamil film industry, the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) and the Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA) have jointly taken several important decisions.
According to a statement issued by the producers’ associations, no new Tamil films will be released in theatres from September 1, 2026.
The associations have also decided to halt film shooting and post-production activities from the same date.
A meeting to discuss the ongoing issues was held on August 22 at 11 a.m. at the Film Chamber premises on Anna Salai, Chennai. Office-bearers of the Tamil Film Producers Council and the Tamil Film Active Producers Association participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, the associations discussed decisions taken by the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners’ Association and the Federation of Tamil Nadu Film Distributors’ Associations without consulting the producers.
Around 250 Tamil Films Released Every Year
According to the producers’ associations, around 250 Tamil films are released every year. However, in the case of most films, producers are unable to recover even half of their investments, resulting in significant financial losses.
The statement further claims that producers collectively suffer losses of more than Rs. 700 crore every year due to the prevailing situation.
Despite these financial challenges, producers continue to invest in and produce films. The associations have expressed concern over decisions being taken without adequately considering the interests and difficulties faced by producers.
As a result, the two producers’ associations have jointly decided to stop the release of new Tamil films, shooting activities and post-production work from September 1, 2026.
OTT Release Window Extended to 8 Weeks
The producers have also taken an important decision regarding the OTT release window.
As per the decision, films released in theatres should be made available on OTT platforms only after completing eight weeks from their theatrical release.
Producers Seek Government Intervention
The producers’ associations have also decided to bring the issue to the attention of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and the concerned minister, seeking government intervention to resolve the ongoing issues in the film industry.
The associations have urged the Tamil Nadu government to intervene and work towards finding an appropriate and amicable solution to the problems faced by the film industry.
The producers’ associations have stated that these decisions have been taken keeping in mind the welfare of producers and the future of the Tamil film industry, and have appealed to all stakeholders to extend their cooperation.
