சிறிய படங்களுக்கு புதிய வாய்ப்பு

தற்போதைய OTT சூழலில் பெரிய நட்சத்திரங்கள் மற்றும் பெரிய பட்ஜெட் திரைப்படங்களுக்கு கிடைக்கும் முக்கியத்துவம், சிறிய படங்களுக்கு கிடைப்பதில்லை. இதை மாற்றும் நோக்கத்திலும் ‘யுவர்பேக்கர்ஸ் பிளே’ செயல்பட இருப்பதாக அதன் நிறுவனர் கிஷோர் ஆதித்யா தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

அவுட்ரைட் மற்றும் revenue share உள்ளிட்ட முறைகளில் திரைப்படங்களை வாங்கி வெளியிடுவதுடன், இதன் மூலம் சிறிய திரைப்படங்களுக்கும் தொடர்ந்து வருமானம் கிடைக்கும் வகையில் ஒரு மாற்று தளத்தை உருவாக்க திட்டமிட்டுள்ளதாகவும் அவர் கூறினார்.

தற்போது இந்த தளத்தில் ‘மனிதம்’, ‘வி3’, ‘கோட்டா’, ‘மெல்லிசை’, ‘தாவுத்’, ‘ஓ பட்டர்ஃபிளை’ உள்ளிட்ட திரைப்படங்கள் இடம்பெற்றுள்ளன. இத்திரைப்படங்களின் டிரைலர்களும் துவக்க விழாவில் திரையிடப்பட்டன.

பெண்களின் பாதுகாப்பிற்காக ‘SOS’ வசதி

‘யுவர்பேக்கர்ஸ் பிளே’ தளத்தில் திரைப்படங்களை பார்ப்பதற்கான வசதியுடன், சமூக நோக்கத்துடன் SOS என்ற சிறப்பு அம்சமும் அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது. குறிப்பாக இரவு நேரங்களில் பெண்களுக்கு எதிரான குற்றங்களை தடுக்கும் வகையில் இந்த வசதியை பயன்படுத்த திட்டமிட்டுள்ளதாக கிஷோர் ஆதித்யா தெரிவித்தார்.

விழாவில் பேசிய FEFSI தலைவர் ஆர்.கே.செல்வமணி, OTT தளங்கள் தற்போது சினிமாவின் ஒரு முக்கிய அங்கமாக மாறியிருப்பதாக தெரிவித்தார். முன்பு திரைப்படங்களுக்கு ஆதரவாக இருந்த OTT நிறுவனங்கள் தற்போது படங்களின் விலை, வெளியீட்டு தேதி உள்ளிட்ட பல விஷயங்களில் தாக்கம் செலுத்தும் நிலை ஏற்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும் அவர் கூறினார்.

தமிழ் சினிமாவில் வெளியிடப்படாமல் ஏராளமான திரைப்படங்கள் முடங்கியிருப்பதாகவும், அவற்றில் தரமான படங்களைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்து வெளியிடுவதன் மூலம் ‘யுவர்பேக்கர்ஸ் பிளே’ தனக்கென ஒரு இடத்தை உருவாக்க வேண்டும் என்றும் அவர் வலியுறுத்தினார்.

மேலும், இந்த முயற்சியில் கிடைக்கும் லாபத்தில் 20 சதவீதத்தை தொழிலாளர்களுக்கு வழங்குவதாக கிஷோர் ஆதித்யா உறுதியளித்திருப்பதாகவும் அவர் தெரிவித்தார்.

நடிகர் எஸ்.வி.சேகர், லாப நோக்கற்ற முயற்சியாக OTT தளத்தை தொடங்கியிருப்பதை வரவேற்றதுடன், இலவசமாக வழங்குவது மட்டுமே ஒரு தளத்தின் வெற்றிக்கு போதாது என்றும், தரமான உள்ளடக்கமே பார்வையாளர்களை தொடர்ந்து ஈர்க்கும் என்றும் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

‘யுவர்பேக்கர்ஸ் பிளே’ தளத்தின் வரவு செலவுகள் வெளிப்படையாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்றும், நல்ல தொழில்முறை அணுகுமுறையுடன் இந்த முயற்சி வளர வேண்டும் என்றும் அவர் வாழ்த்தினார்.

நடிகர் போஸ் வெங்கட், OTT துறையில் தற்போது சில முன்னணி நிறுவனங்களே ஆதிக்கம் செலுத்தி வரும் நிலையில், தமிழ் ரசிகர்களுக்கென தனித்துவமான உள்ளடக்கங்களை உருவாக்குவது அவசியம் என்றார்.

இளம் படைப்பாளிகளின் புதிய சிந்தனைகளுக்கு வாய்ப்பு வழங்கி, புதுமையான படைப்புகளை பார்வையாளர்களிடம் கொண்டு செல்ல வேண்டும் என்றும் அவர் தெரிவித்தார்.

நடிகர் மைம் கோபி, கிஷோர் ஆதித்யாவின் உழைப்பையும் சமூக அக்கறையையும் பாராட்டினார். தன்னிடம் நடிப்பு பயிற்சி பெற வந்த கிஷோர் ஆதித்யா, பின்னர் தனக்கு நடிக்கும் வாய்ப்பை வழங்கியதாகவும், தற்போது அவரது தயாரிப்பில் உருவாகும் திரைப்படத்தில் நடித்து வருவதாகவும் கூறினார்.

புதிய முயற்சிகளை தொடங்க யாராவது ஒருவர் முதல் அடியை எடுத்து வைக்க வேண்டும் என்றும், அந்த வகையில் ‘யுவர்பேக்கர்ஸ் பிளே’ ஒரு முக்கியமான முயற்சி என்றும் அவர் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

Watch films for free and contribute through ‘Impact Ticket’ – Yourbackers Foundation introduces a new OTT platform connecting entertainment with social service

Chennai: In a unique initiative that aims to transform entertainment into a medium for social change, Yourbackers Foundation has launched ‘Yourbackers Play’, a non-profit OTT (Over-The-Top) digital platform designed to bring together filmmakers, artists, audiences and the wider film industry.

Unlike conventional OTT platforms that operate on subscription models, Yourbackers Play allows viewers to watch films free of cost. At the same time, those who wish to contribute can make a voluntary donation through the platform’s ‘Impact Ticket’ option. A major portion of the contributions will be utilised for social welfare initiatives, while a share will also be allocated to the people associated with the respective films.

A platform built on social responsibility

Yourbackers Foundation has been actively involved in social welfare initiatives for the past six years under the leadership of founder Kishore Adithya. The organisation has undertaken several initiatives, including campaigns against plastic pollution in Puducherry and efforts to remove plastic waste from the sea. The foundation has also been involved in women empowerment initiatives.

According to Kishore Adithya, the foundation’s marine plastic-cleaning initiative earned a Guinness World Record, while its social work has also received appreciation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Kishore Adithya has also been actively involved in the film industry. He was associated with the distribution of films including Vijay Sethupathi’s Maamanithan in the North Arcot and South Arcot regions and went on to produce films including Manitham. He is currently producing a film featuring actor Mime Gopi in the lead.

A new platform for smaller films

One of the key objectives of Yourbackers Play is to provide a platform for small and independent films that often struggle to find adequate space on mainstream OTT platforms.

Speaking at the launch, Kishore Adithya said that while audiences naturally gravitate towards big-star films and major productions on OTT platforms, the new platform aims to give smaller films an opportunity to reach viewers.

Yourbackers Play plans to acquire films through outright purchase as well as revenue-sharing models. The initiative is also expected to create a more sustainable revenue stream for smaller films and their creators.

The platform currently features films including ** Manitham, V3, Kota, Mellisai, Dhaavut and O Butterfly**. Trailers of these films were screened during the launch event.

SOS feature aimed at women’s safety

Another notable feature of Yourbackers Play is its SOS facility, which is intended to support efforts to prevent crimes against women, particularly during night hours.

Kishore Adithya also revealed that the platform plans to explore AI-based filmmaking as part of its future expansion.

“OTT is also a theatre” – R.K. Selvamani

FEFSI President R.K. Selvamani welcomed the launch and observed that OTT platforms have evolved from being a supporting medium for cinema to becoming a major force influencing the industry.

He pointed out that OTT platforms once competed aggressively to acquire films, whereas the current situation has become challenging for filmmakers, with platforms having considerable influence over acquisition and release decisions.

Welcoming the arrival of a new Tamil OTT platform, Selvamani urged Yourbackers Play to identify and acquire quality films that remain unreleased. He noted that a large number of Tamil films are currently awaiting release and said the platform could provide a valuable opportunity for deserving films.

He also mentioned Kishore Adithya’s assurance of allocating 20% of the profits towards film industry workers.

“Free content alone will not guarantee success” – S.V. Sekhar

Actor S.V. Sekhar appreciated the foundation’s decision to launch a non-profit OTT platform but stressed that offering content for free alone would not guarantee success.

According to him, quality content and professional management will be crucial for the platform to establish itself in a highly competitive OTT market.

He also welcomed the platform’s commitment towards transparency and urged the team to seek the guidance of experienced professionals while understanding changing audience preferences.

“Bring new and innovative content” – Bose Venkat

Actor Bose Venkat observed that global OTT platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime have a strong presence in the Indian market and stressed the need for a platform that provides fresh and distinctive Tamil content.

He encouraged the Yourbackers Play team to identify new ideas from young filmmakers and give them opportunities to reach audiences.

“Someone has to take the first step” – Mime Gopi

Actor Mime Gopi praised Kishore Adithya for his hard work and commitment to social causes.

He revealed that he had initially approached Kishore Adithya to teach acting, but Kishore later offered him an opportunity to act in one of his productions. Mime Gopi is currently acting in the upcoming film being produced by him.

Calling Yourbackers Play a pioneering initiative, Mime Gopi urged everyone to extend their support to the new platform.

Industry voices welcome the initiative

Producer Mathiyazhagan, actor Yugi Sethu and actor Cool Suresh were among those who congratulated the team.

Yugi Sethu spoke about the changing nature of cinema consumption in the age of OTT platforms and short-form digital content, stressing the importance of balancing quality with audience appeal.

Cool Suresh praised Kishore Adithya’s long-standing commitment to helping others and expressed confidence that the new OTT venture would achieve success.

As part of the launch event, welfare assistance was also distributed to underprivileged and vulnerable women.

The event was attended by Yourbackers CEO John Julius, director Bruno, producers J.K. Saravanan and J.K. Sathish, Star Homes Selvakumar and several other personalities from the film and social sectors.

With its combination of free entertainment, support for independent cinema and social welfare, Yourbackers Play aims to create a new model where watching a film can go beyond entertainment and contribute towards creating a positive social impact.
