‘செஞ்சி சாமி’ யார்?… அச்சத்தை கிளப்பும் ‘மண்டவெட்டி’ டீசர்!

ஒரு பெண்… அவரைச் சுற்றி நடக்கும் விசித்திரமான சம்பவங்கள்… கண்ணுக்குத் தெரியாத ஒரு சக்தி… அதன் பின்னால் இருக்கும் நாட்டுப்புற நம்பிக்கை. இவை அனைத்தையும் ஒன்றாகக் கலந்து, பார்வையாளர்களுக்குள் பல கேள்விகளை எழுப்புகிறது ‘மண்டவெட்டி’ திரைப்படத்தின் புதிய டீசர்.

சரண்ராஜ் செந்தில்குமார் இயக்கி, தயாரித்துள்ள இந்த சூப்பர் நேச்சுரல் கிரைம் த்ரில்லரில் கோமலி பிரசாத் கதாநாயகியாக நடித்துள்ளார். சுமார் இரண்டு நிமிடங்கள் வெளியாகியுள்ள டீசர், கதையை முழுமையாகச் சொல்லாமல், படத்தின் மர்மத்தை மட்டுமே கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாகத் திறந்து காட்டுகிறது.

டீசரின் தொடக்கத்திலேயே மயக்க நிலையில் இருக்கும் ஒரு பெண்ணின் காட்சி பார்வையாளர்களை பதற்றத்துக்குள் இழுக்கிறது. அதன் பிறகு வரும் ஒவ்வொரு காட்சியும், “இங்கே உண்மையில் என்ன நடக்கிறது?” என்ற கேள்வியை எழுப்பும் வகையில் அமைந்திருக்கிறது.

இந்தக் கதையின் முக்கியமான மர்மமாக இருப்பது ‘செஞ்சி சாமி’ என்ற சக்தி. அதைச் சுற்றி பல விசித்திரமான சம்பவங்கள் நடப்பது டீசர் மூலம் தெரிய வருகிறது. ஆனால் அந்த சக்தி யார்? அது தெய்வமா, அமானுஷ்ய சக்தியா அல்லது அதன் பின்னால் வேறு ஏதாவது காரணம் இருக்கிறதா? என்பதற்கான பதிலை படக்குழு இதுவரை வெளிப்படுத்தவில்லை.

மாறாக, டீசர் முழுவதும் பார்வையாளர்களை சந்தேகத்திலேயே வைத்திருக்கிறது. ஒரு சம்பவத்துக்கான பதில் கிடைக்கும் என்று நினைக்கும் நேரத்தில், அதைவிட மர்மமான இன்னொரு காட்சி வருகிறது. இதனால் படத்தின் மீதான எதிர்பார்ப்பும் அதிகரிக்கிறது.

கோமலி பிரசாத்தின் கதாபாத்திரமும் டீசரில் கவனம் ஈர்க்கிறது. அச்சம், கோபம், வேதனை என மாறுபட்ட உணர்வுகளை வெளிப்படுத்தும் அவரது நடிப்பு, இந்தக் கதையில் அவர் எதிர்கொள்ளப் போகும் பிரச்சனையின் தீவிரத்தை உணர்த்துகிறது.

‘மண்டவெட்டி’யின் மற்றொரு முக்கியமான பலம் அதன் காட்சியமைப்பு. இருள் நிறைந்த சூழல், மர்மமான இடங்கள், திடீரென தோன்றும் காட்சிகள் என படம் முழுவதும் ஒரு அசௌகரியமான மனநிலையை உருவாக்கும் முயற்சி தெரிகிறது. இதனுடன் தீபக் வேணுகோபாலின் பின்னணி இசையும் இணைவதால் டீசரின் த்ரில் மேலும் அதிகரிக்கிறது.

நாட்டுப்புற நம்பிக்கைகள், உள்ளூர் தெய்வம் தொடர்பான தொன்மக் கதைகள், மனிதர்களின் அச்சம் மற்றும் உளவியல் ரீதியான பதற்றம் ஆகியவற்றை மையமாகக் கொண்டு உருவாகியிருக்கும் இப்படம், வழக்கமான பேய் படங்களின் பாதையில் செல்லாமல் வேறொரு அனுபவத்தைத் தரும் என்ற எதிர்பார்ப்பை ஏற்படுத்துகிறது.

டஸ்கர்ஸ் டென் பிக்சர்ஸ் சார்பில் சரண்ராஜ் செந்தில்குமார் இயக்கி தயாரித்துள்ள இப்படத்திற்கு பிரகாஷ் மனிதன் ஒளிப்பதிவு செய்துள்ளார். குணா பழனிசாமி படத்தொகுப்பு பணியை மேற்கொண்டுள்ளார். தீபக் வேணுகோபால் இசையமைத்துள்ளார். கெளதம் சண்டைக் காட்சிகளை வடிவமைத்துள்ளார். சங்கீதா சென் ஆடை வடிவமைப்பையும், டோனி ஜெ ஒலி கலவையையும் கவனித்துள்ளனர். பாலகங்காதரன் டிஐ கிரேடிங் பணிகளை மேற்கொண்டுள்ளார். விஜயன் விஎஃப்எக்ஸ் பணிகளை கவனித்து வருகிறார்.

‘செஞ்சி சாமி’யின் பின்னணியில் இருக்கும் உண்மை என்ன? கோமலி பிரசாத்தின் கதாபாத்திரத்துக்கும் இந்த மர்ம சக்திக்கும் என்ன தொடர்பு? — இந்த கேள்விகளுக்கான பதிலைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ள ‘மண்டவெட்டி’ வெளியாகும் வரை காத்திருக்க வேண்டியிருக்கிறது.

 

 

Who Is ‘Senji Saami’? Mandavetti Teaser Raises the Fear Factor

A woman in a mysterious state, strange incidents unfolding around her, an unseen force and a deeply rooted local belief — the teaser of Mandavetti brings all these elements together to create an unsettling supernatural world.

Directed and produced by Saranraj Senthilkumar, Mandavetti stars Komali Prasad in the lead role. The recently released two-minute teaser does not reveal much about the actual story. Instead, it carefully builds curiosity by dropping clues and leaving several questions unanswered.

The teaser opens with Komali Prasad’s character appearing to be in a trance-like state. From there, the narrative moves through a series of unusual incidents, fragmented conversations and tense moments involving characters who seem to be struggling to understand a mysterious force beyond their control.

At the centre of the mystery is ‘Senji Saami’, a powerful local deity or supernatural presence that appears to be connected to the strange events taking place around the characters. However, the teaser deliberately avoids revealing what Senji Saami actually is or why its presence has begun to affect the lives of those around it.

Instead of giving away answers, the teaser keeps adding more questions. Every new visual seems to hint at another layer of the mystery, creating the feeling that something far more disturbing is waiting to be uncovered.

Komali Prasad appears to be playing a character that goes through several intense emotional phases. Fear, anger, pain and a sense of spiritual turmoil are visible in her performance, suggesting that her character could be closely connected to the central mystery of the film.

The film’s visual treatment also plays a key role in establishing its eerie atmosphere. Dark shadows, isolated locations, unsettling expressions and brief flashes of disturbing imagery combine with Deepak Venugopal’s background score to heighten the tension.

Rather than presenting itself as a conventional horror film, Mandavetti appears to be exploring the intersection of folk beliefs, human fear, psychological tension and supernatural mystery. The story is said to revolve around ancient folklore associated with the powerful local deity of Senji, adding a distinct cultural layer to the supernatural setting.

Produced under the banner of Tuskers Ten Pictures, the film features cinematography by Prakash Manithan and editing by Guna Palanisamy. Deepak Venugopal has composed the music, while Gautham has choreographed the action sequences. Sangeetha Sen is the costume designer, Tony J has handled the sound mixing, and Balagangadharan is responsible for DI grading. VFX is being handled by Vijayan.

With the teaser keeping the core mystery firmly under wraps, the biggest questions surrounding Mandavetti remain unanswered: Who or what is Senji Saami? What is its connection to Komali Prasad’s character? And why has its presence begun to disturb the world around her?

The answers will have to wait until the film’s release.
