திரைக்கதை மன்னன் பாக்யராஜையே கவர்ந்த ‘பீப்’ கதை; செப்டம்பர் 18-ல் வெளியாகிறது புதிய கிரைம் டிராமா!

குறும்பட உலகில் தனது திறமையை நிரூபித்த இயக்குநர் இல. சண்முக சுந்தர், தற்போது வெள்ளித்திரையில் இயக்குநராக அறிமுகமாகும் படம் ‘பீப்’. வழக்கமான வன்முறை கிரைம் த்ரில்லர் பாணியில் இருந்து விலகி, வித்தியாசமான கதை சொல்லும் முறையில் உருவாகியுள்ள இப்படம் செப்டம்பர் 18-ஆம் தேதி திரையரங்குகளில் வெளியாகிறது.

‘கட்டு’ (Bind) என்ற குறும்படத்தின் மூலம் கவனம் ஈர்த்த இல. சண்முக சுந்தர் இயக்கியுள்ள இந்தப் படத்தில் ராகவ் ரங்கநாதன் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்துள்ளார். அவருடன் பஞ்சாப்பைச் சேர்ந்த பிரேர்ணா கண்ணா, யாமினி, ‘சார்பட்டா பரம்பரை’ புகழ் பிரியதர்ஷினி, நிதிஷ் வீரா உள்ளிட்ட பலர் நடித்துள்ளனர்.

சமூகத்தின் விளிம்பு நிலையில் வாழும் மனிதர்களின் வாழ்க்கையை மையமாகக் கொண்டு உருவாகியுள்ள ‘பீப்’, வழக்கமான கிரைம் படங்களில் இடம்பெறும் துப்பாக்கிச் சண்டைகள், ரத்தம் தெறிக்கும் வன்முறைக் காட்சிகள் போன்றவற்றை நம்பாமல் தனது கதையை நகர்த்துகிறது.

எளிய பின்னணியில் இருந்து வரும் ஒரு திறமையான இளைஞன், புகைப்படங்களையும் காட்சிகளையும் மிகத் துல்லியமாக நினைவில் வைத்துக்கொள்ளும் அபார திறன் கொண்டவன். இந்தியாவின் தலைசிறந்த பிசினஸ் பள்ளி ஒன்றில் சேரும் அவனது நோக்கம், தனக்குப் பிடித்த பெண்ணைச் சந்திப்பதுதான். ஆனால் அவனது வாழ்க்கையை முற்றிலுமாக மாற்றிவிடும் எதிர்பாராத சம்பவம் ஒன்று நடைபெறுகிறது.

அந்தச் சூழ்நிலையிலிருந்து அவனை மீட்டெடுக்க அவனது ஆறு நண்பர்கள் ஒன்றிணைகிறார்கள். அந்த முயற்சியும், அதன் பின்னணியில் நடைபெறும் சம்பவங்களும்தான் ‘பீப்’ படத்தின் மையக்கதை.

படம் குறித்து இயக்குநர் இல. சண்முக சுந்தர் கூறுகையில்,

“கிரைம் படம் என்றாலே ரத்தம், வன்முறை, துப்பாக்கி, கத்தி என்று இருக்க வேண்டும் என்ற கட்டாயம் இல்லை. ‘பீப்’ படத்தில் ஒரு கொலை சம்பவம் இடம்பெறும். ஆனால் ஒவ்வொரு காட்சியிலும் குற்றம் அல்லது கொலை மட்டுமே மையமாக இருக்காது. கதாபாத்திரங்களின் வாழ்க்கை, அவர்களின் தேடல் மற்றும் அவர்கள் எதிர்கொள்ளும் சூழ்நிலைகளோடு கதை சுவாரஸ்யமாக பயணிக்கும்.

எனக்கு ஆக்சன் காட்சிகள் அல்லது ஆயுதங்களுக்கு எதிர்ப்பு இல்லை. ஆனால் இந்தக் கதைக்கு அவை தேவையில்லை என்று உணர்ந்தேன். இது ‘ராட்சசன்’ போன்ற கிரைம் த்ரில்லர் அல்ல. மாறாக ‘த்ரிஷ்யம்’ மற்றும் ‘தொடக்கம்’ போன்ற கதையம்சத்தை மையமாகக் கொண்ட கிரைம் டிராமா,” என்றார்.

இந்தப் படத்தின் மிக முக்கியமான சிறப்பம்சங்களில் ஒன்று, மறைந்த இயக்குநரும் திரைக்கதை மன்னனுமான கே. பாக்யராஜ் படத்தின் கதைசொல்லியாக தனது குரலை வழங்கியிருப்பதாகும்.

Bhagyaraj Was So Impressed He Gifted the Director a Pen: Crime Drama ‘Beep’ Set for September 18 Release

Director Il. Shanmuga Sundar, who earned appreciation for his short film Kattu (Bind), is all set to make his feature film directorial debut with the upcoming crime drama Beep. The film, which promises to take a different route from conventional violent crime thrillers, is scheduled to hit theatres on September 18.

Raghav Ranganathan plays the lead role in Beep, alongside Punjab-based actress Prerna Khanna, Yamini, Sarpatta Parambarai fame Priyadarshini and Nithish Veera, among others.

Set against the lives of people from marginalised sections of society, Beep is designed as a crime drama that moves away from the usual formula of guns, bloodshed and high-octane violence.

The story revolves around a talented young man from a humble background who possesses an extraordinary ability to accurately retain photographs and visual details in his memory. He gets an opportunity to study at one of India’s leading business schools, with the primary intention of meeting the woman he loves.

However, an unexpected incident changes the course of his life completely. What follows is the journey of his group of six friends and their efforts to help him escape from the life-altering situation.

Speaking about the film, director Il. Shanmuga Sundar said that Beep does not rely on excessive violence to establish itself as a crime drama.

“Just because it is a crime film, it does not necessarily have to feature bloodshed, violence, guns and knives. There is a murder in Beep, but the entire film does not revolve around crimes or killings in every scene. The story progresses through the lives of its characters, their struggles and their search for answers.

“I have nothing against action sequences or weapons, but I felt they were not necessary for this particular story. This is not a film like Ratsasan. It belongs more to the genre of films such as Drishyam and Thodakkam, where the narrative and characters drive the crime drama,” he said.

One of the biggest highlights of Beep is the involvement of the late legendary filmmaker and screenplay writer K. Bhagyaraj, who has lent his voice as the narrator of the film.

Interestingly, Bhagyaraj was initially hesitant about being associated with the project. However, after reading the complete script, he was reportedly deeply impressed by the story. He immediately called director Il. Shanmuga Sundar and gifted him a pen as a token of appreciation for his writing.

The fact that the screenplay impressed a filmmaker widely regarded as one of Tamil cinema’s finest storytellers has further raised expectations for Beep.

The film’s trailer was recently launched by director Venkat Prabhu along with actors Premgi Amaren, Vaibhav and Ajay Raj, and actresses Ramya and Preetha Raghav.

The trailer has already crossed one million views on YouTube, generating considerable attention among audiences. The strong response to the trailer of a debut filmmaker’s project has also created a buzz within the film industry.

With its unconventional crime-drama premise, character-driven narrative and an intriguing story that impressed screenplay legend K. Bhagyaraj, Beep is gearing up for its theatrical release on September 18.
