தமிழின் அழகைப் பிரதிபலிக்கும் தலைப்பு வேண்டும்!

படத்தின் தயாரிப்பாளர் சதா முருகன் பேசும்போது, “தமிழ் சினிமாவில் ஆண்டுதோறும் ஏராளமான படங்கள் வெளியாகின்றன. ஆனால், தமிழின் அழகையும் பெருமையையும் வெளிப்படுத்தும் தலைப்புகள் அதிகமாக அமைய வேண்டும் என்பது எனது விருப்பம். அந்த வகையில், அனைவருக்கும் எளிதில் புரியக்கூடிய கவித்துவமான தலைப்பாக ‘பனிவிழும் இரவு’ என்பதைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தோம்.

ஆரம்பத்தில் பாடலாசிரியராகவும் இசையமைப்பாளராகவும் இப்படத்தில் இணைந்தேன். கதையின் தனித்துவம் பிடித்ததால் தயாரிப்புப் பொறுப்பையும் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டேன். இதுவரை சொல்லப்படாத வித்தியாசமான கதைக்களத்தை ரசிகர்களிடம் கொண்டு செல்லும் முயற்சியாக இப்படம் உருவாகியுள்ளது.

“நான் சினிமாவுக்கு நடிகராக வேண்டும் என்ற ஆசையுடன் வந்தேன். இதுவரை சுமார் 15 சிறிய படங்களில் நடித்திருக்கிறேன். இந்தக் கதையைப் பற்றி விவாதித்தபோது, எதிர்காலத்தில் நிஜமாகக்கூடிய ஒரு விஷயத்தைப் பேசுவதால் உடனடியாகப் படமாக்கலாம் என்று தயாரிப்பாளர் ஊக்கமளித்தார்.

Produced under the banner of Pavi Creations, Pani Vizhum Iravu stars Arun Karthi and Enakshi Ganguly in the lead roles. Directed by Se. Ra. Rajesh, the thriller is scheduled to hit theatres on October 30. The film’s press meet was held today, with the producers, director, cast, technicians and distributors sharing their experiences of bringing the project to life.

“A Unique Story with Unexpected Twists” – Producer Sada Murugan

Speaking at the event, producer Sada Murugan said, “Pani Vizhum Iravu is a distinctive and poetic title. I am also a lyricist, and I feel that more Tamil films should have titles that reflect the beauty and richness of the Tamil language. We chose this title because it is meaningful and easy for everyone to understand.

Although I initially joined the project as a lyricist and music composer, I decided to become involved in its production because I was impressed by the story. We have attempted to present a different narrative that audiences have not experienced before.

The screenplay is designed to keep audiences guessing. Viewers will find it difficult to predict how the story unfolds, even after the sixth reel. We have worked hard to create an engaging thriller.

Making a film is challenging, but bringing it to theatres and ensuring its release is an even bigger task. Distributors Dhanasekaran and Sanjay of ARK Productions have extended tremendous support to us. I request the media to encourage films made by small-budget producers when they recognise the quality and effort behind them.”

“A New Experience for Audiences” – Cinematographer Jayakumar Thangavel

Cinematographer Jayakumar Thangavel shared his journey from working as a wedding photographer in Madurai to entering the film industry through the rental business for cameras and filming equipment.

He said, “I always wanted to create something of my own in cinema, and that aspiration brought me to Pani Vizhum Iravu. We initially planned to make the film on a limited budget, and the actors and technicians extended their full cooperation.

The film has several interesting elements and unexpected turns, which I do not want to reveal at this stage. I believe audiences will have a fresh experience when they watch it.

Although the production began on a modest budget, expenses increased due to various circumstances. Producer Sada Murugan stood by me during that difficult period. This project has taught me that filmmaking requires the collective effort, trust and commitment of an entire team.”

Cable Shankar Highlights the Growing Potential of Small-Budget Films

Film enthusiast Cable Shankar expressed happiness over the increasing success of small and medium-budget films in Tamil cinema.

He said, “It is encouraging to see smaller films finding their audience. Opportunities through theatrical releases, television rights and digital platforms have also improved their commercial prospects.

Arun Karthi deserves special appreciation. Apart from playing the lead role, he also worked as an assistant director during the making of the film. He worked alongside the crew without any airs of being a hero, which is commendable. I believe his performance, particularly towards the climax, will attract attention.

Enakshi Ganguly has also performed well in her role. Producer Sada Murugan has worked tirelessly over the past one and a half months to bring the film to its release stage. Pani Vizhum Iravu has shaped up as an interesting thriller, and I hope audiences and the media extend their support.”

Actor Uriyadi Suruli said that the success of films made on modest budgets was always encouraging.

Producer Sivasamy praised Sada Murugan for taking on multiple responsibilities as a teacher, lyricist, music composer and producer.

He also appreciated cinematographer Jayakumar Thangavel’s dedication, director Rajesh’s experience and Arun Karthi’s involvement in the film’s promotional activities.

Sivasamy added that small-budget films play an important role in bringing out the creative talents found in rural areas and among ordinary people. He expressed hope that Pani Vizhum Iravu would emerge as a distinctive cinematic effort.

Director Suresh Babu Extends His Wishes

Director Suresh Babu congratulated Se. Ra. Rajesh on making his directorial debut with Pani Vizhum Iravu. He noted that Rajesh had already demonstrated his abilities as an actor and filmmaker.

Distributor Dhanasekaran: “We Worked Day and Night for 45 Days”

Distributor Dhanasekaran revealed that he decided to support the film after watching it and recognising the potential of its story.

“Once I watched the film, I contacted the director and producer and invited them to discuss its release. I felt that the content had the potential to succeed if it was taken to audiences in the right way. Since then, we have worked day and night for nearly 45 days to bring the film to theatres.

Arun Karthi has delivered an impressive performance. Tamil cinema should make better use of his talent. The music by Sada Murugan and the visuals captured by cinematographer Jayakumar Thangavel are also noteworthy. The scale and quality of the visuals surprised me, considering the film’s modest budget.

Releasing small films in theatres is increasingly challenging, but we believe that good content deserves an opportunity. I hope Pani Vizhum Iravu will demonstrate that Tamil cinema can produce compelling films across different budget ranges. Media support will be crucial in helping us reach audiences.”

He also thanked those who supported the film’s release efforts, including Minister Venkataraman, Ramasamy, Media Balu, director Saminathan and Cable Shankar.

Distributor Ramakrishnan reiterated his commitment to supporting small-budget productions, stating that his team was willing to extend assistance wherever possible to help good films reach audiences.

Enakshi Ganguly Thanks the Team for Helping Her Learn Tamil

Lead actress Enakshi Ganguly expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work in Tamil cinema.

She said, “I was initially a little confused about what to say here, but I prepared a short speech in Tamil because I wanted to make the effort. I am not yet fluent in Tamil, as I have mostly spoken Hindi, Bengali and English. Working on this film has been a special experience for me.

My heartfelt thanks to J.K. sir for continuously helping me learn Tamil during the shoot. Arun is a wonderful co-star who took care of me and helped me whenever I needed assistance. I truly enjoyed working with him and the entire team.

As a growing actress working alongside emerging producers, I understand how important media support is. I request everyone to help take this film to audiences in India and across the world.”

Arun Karthi Gets Emotional While Remembering His Father

Lead actor Arun Karthi became emotional while speaking about his late father and the journey that brought him to this milestone.

He said, “There are no words to describe what I feel as I stand here, having played the lead role in a film that is now ready for release. As I speak on this stage, I believe my father is somewhere watching me with pride and happiness. Love you, Pa. Miss you, Pa!”

He thanked his mother, younger brother, aunt, uncle and friends for supporting him throughout his journey.

Recalling how he came on board the project, Arun said he was introduced to director Rajesh’s thriller story through J.K. and was immediately impressed by the narrative.

“The film was shot entirely in Kodaikanal, which presented several challenges. Shooting in the cold, misty conditions without adequate winter clothing was difficult, but when I watched the final visuals, I was happy with the results.

Sada Murugan sir kept everyone cheerful even during difficult situations. Cinematographer J.K. and director Rajesh pushed us to deliver the right shots in the misty atmosphere of Kodaikanal. Their commitment has made a difference to the film.

Enakshi Ganguly worked hard to memorise her Tamil dialogues despite not knowing the language. She was a wonderful co-star, and working with experienced actors such as Gajaraj, Karuppu Nambiyar and Cheran Raj was a valuable learning experience.

Dhanasekaran, Sanjay and Ramakrishnan of ARK Productions have also provided tremendous support in bringing the film to theatres. I am grateful to everyone who contributed to this journey.”

Arun also requested the media to avoid revealing the film’s climax twist in their reviews.

“Although this is a small-budget film, we have done our best to provide everything the story requires. We have also made every effort to promote it. I hope audiences will come to theatres and watch Pani Vizhum Iravu on October 30,” he added.

Director Se. Ra. Rajesh: “Releasing the Film Was More Challenging Than Making It”

Director Se. Ra. Rajesh thanked his parents, the film fraternity and the media for their support. He spoke candidly about the challenges faced during production and the difficulties involved in securing a theatrical release.

“The challenges we faced in releasing the film were even greater than those involved in making it. The last 30 days have been particularly difficult, and I am deeply grateful to producer Sada Murugan for standing by me throughout this period.

I entered cinema aspiring to become an actor and have acted in around 15 small films, some of which have been released while others are still awaiting release. When we discussed the story of Pani Vizhum Iravu, we felt that it explored a situation that could potentially become a reality in the future. Sada Murugan encouraged us to proceed without delay.

Arun Karthi has performed exceptionally well as the lead actor. Beyond acting, he extended tremendous support during the shoot and even volunteered to handle several responsibilities usually undertaken by assistant directors.

I am also thankful to Dhanasekaran, Sanjay and Ramakrishnan of ARK Productions for believing in my directorial debut and helping us take the film towards release. Cable Shankar watched the film, offered valuable suggestions and encouraged us to move forward with confidence.

Cinema has taught me many lessons. My experiences have shown me that, rather than simply waiting for opportunities, creating opportunities ourselves can help others as well. I believe that if we work honestly and sincerely, Tamil cinema will give us the recognition we deserve.
