கடலின் பிரமாண்டத்தை IMAX திரையில் காட்ட வருகிறது ‘மண்டாடி’ – செப்டம்பர் 10 முதல் சூரியின் புதிய அவதாரம்!
கடலை மையமாக வைத்து உருவாகியுள்ள படங்கள் திரையில் எப்போதுமே ஒரு தனி அனுபவத்தை கொடுக்கும். அதிலும் ஆழ்கடலில் படமாக்கப்பட்ட ஆக்ஷன் காட்சிகள், பாரம்பரிய பாய்மரப் படகு போட்டியின் பரபரப்பு என பிரமாண்டமான காட்சிகளுடன் உருவாகியிருக்கும் ‘மண்டாடி’ படத்தை பெரிய திரையில் பார்க்க ரசிகர்களுக்கு இன்னொரு காரணமும் கிடைத்திருக்கிறது. இப்படம் வரும் செப்டம்பர் 10, 2026 முதல் இந்தியா முழுவதும் IMAX® திரைகளிலும் வெளியாகிறது.
நடிகர் சூரி நடிப்பில், இயக்குநர் மதிமாறன் புகழேந்தி இயக்கத்தில் உருவாகியிருக்கும் ‘மண்டாடி’, வழக்கமான விளையாட்டு கதையாக இல்லாமல் தமிழ்நாட்டின் கடலோர மக்களின் வாழ்க்கை, அவர்களின் கடல்சார் பாரம்பரியம் மற்றும் பாய்மரப் படகு போட்டியை கதையின் முக்கிய பின்னணியாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது.
கடலுக்குள் நடைபெறும் போட்டி, ஆபத்தான சாகசங்கள், உடல் வலிமையை சோதிக்கும் தருணங்கள் என படத்தின் முக்கியமான காட்சிகள் பலவும் ஆழ்கடல் பகுதிகளில் படமாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. இதனால் கடலின் வேகம், அலைகளின் சீற்றம், படகுகளின் பாய்ச்சல் என ஒவ்வொரு காட்சியும் ரசிகர்களை நேரடியாக அந்தச் சூழலுக்குள் அழைத்துச் செல்லும் வகையில் உருவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

படத்திற்காக நடிகர் சூரியும் கடுமையான பயிற்சிகளை மேற்கொண்டுள்ளார். குறிப்பாக பாய்மரப் படகு தொடர்பான காட்சிகளில் டூப் கலைஞர்களின் உதவியின்றி ஆபத்தான கடல் சாகசங்களில் நடிக்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக அவர் பிரத்யேக பயிற்சி பெற்றுள்ளார். இதனால் படத்தில் இடம்பெறும் பல காட்சிகளில் அவரது உடல் உழைப்பும், அர்ப்பணிப்பும் நேரடியாகத் தெரியும் என படக்குழு தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

Soori’s ‘Mandadi’ to Bring the Grandeur of the Sea to IMAX Screens Across India on September 10
Films set against the sea have always offered a unique visual experience. Taking that experience a notch higher, actor Soori’s upcoming film Mandadi is set to release in IMAX® across India on September 10, 2026.
Directed by Madhimaaran Pugazhendhi and produced by Elred Kumar under RS Infotainment, Mandadi is a sports action drama that revolves around traditional sailboat racing and the rich maritime culture of Tamil Nadu’s coastal communities.
Rather than being a conventional sports drama, the film explores the world of coastal communities while placing a high-octane sailboat race at the heart of its story. Several sequences have been filmed in deep-sea locations, capturing the force of the waves, the speed of the boats and the intense physical challenges faced by the characters.
The film’s IMAX® release is expected to further elevate these visuals on the big screen. The expansive format and immersive sound are set to bring the intensity of the ocean, the scale of the boat races and the film’s action sequences closer to audiences across India.
Soori has also undergone rigorous training for the film. The actor trained extensively in sailboat racing and performed several challenging sequences at sea without the assistance of stunt doubles, adding to the authenticity of the film’s action.
Producer Elred Kumar says the team always envisioned Mandadi as a larger-than-life theatrical experience. The natural speed and scale of the sea, along with the grandeur of the sailboat sequences, were among the key reasons behind choosing an IMAX® release.
Director Madhimaaran Pugazhendhi has also emphasised the importance of a big-screen experience for the film. According to him, the technical scale and intensity of the action sequences demanded a format that would allow audiences to experience every detail—from the turbulent waters to the emotional moments of the story—in their full magnitude.
Mandadi features Soori, Suhas, Mahima Nambiar, Sathyaraj, Ravindra Vijay, Bala Saravanan, Mithun and Stunt Silva in prominent roles.
The technical crew includes composer G. V. Prakash Kumar, cinematographer S. R. Kathir ISC, editor Pradeep E. Ragav and art director T. R. K. Kiran. The action sequences have been choreographed by Peter Hein, Dileep Subbarayan and Mahesh Mathew.
