“விழுந்த இடத்திலிருந்து மீண்டு வந்திருக்கிறார் நாகராஜ்!” – ‘ஆகாயம்’ விழாவில் திரையுலகினர் பாராட்டு

 

தமிழ் சினிமாவில் ஒரு காலத்தில் தனது கதை சொல்லும் திறமையாலும், இயல்பான நடிப்பாலும் தனக்கென ஒரு இடத்தைப் பிடித்தவர் தினந்தோறும் நாகராஜ். வாழ்க்கையில் ஏற்பட்ட பல்வேறு தடுமாற்றங்களுக்குப் பிறகு, நீண்ட இடைவெளியைத் தொடர்ந்து மீண்டும் இயக்குநராக களமிறங்கியிருக்கிறார்.

அவர் கதை, திரைக்கதை, வசனம் எழுதி இயக்கியிருக்கும் புதிய திரைப்படம் ‘ஆகாயம்’. டெல்டா டாக்கீஸ் சார்பில் ஜெயச்சந்திரன் மற்றும் கார்த்திகா தேவி தயாரித்துள்ள இப்படத்தில் ஸ்ரீராம் கார்த்திக் கதாநாயகனாகவும், ஆலிஷா மிராணி கதாநாயகியாகவும் நடித்துள்ளனர்.

படத்தின் இசை வெளியீட்டு விழா சென்னையில் திரையுலக பிரபலங்கள், படக்குழுவினர் மற்றும் ரசிகர்கள் முன்னிலையில் உற்சாகமாக நடைபெற்றது.

விழாவில் பேசிய பெரும்பாலான திரையுலகினர், ‘ஆகாயம்’ படத்தைப் பற்றி மட்டும் பேசாமல், நாகராஜின் நீண்ட பயணம் மற்றும் அவரது மீள்வரவு குறித்தே அதிகம் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டனர்.

“நாகராஜ் முடிந்துவிட்டார் என்று நாங்களே நினைத்தோம்!”

எழுத்தாளர் அஜயன் பாலா பேசும்போது, சுமார் 25 ஆண்டுகளாக நாகராஜை அறிந்திருப்பதாகக் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

நாகராஜ் கதை சொல்லும் விதம் அப்போதே தன்னை ஆச்சரியப்படுத்தியதாகவும், ஒவ்வொரு காட்சியையும் கண்முன்னே நடப்பது போல் அவர் விவரிப்பார் என்றும் கூறினார்.

‘தினந்தோறும்’ திரைப்படம் வெளியானபோது ரசிகர்கள் நாகராஜை தூக்கிக் கொண்டாடியதை நேரில் பார்த்ததாகவும், அதன்பிறகு அவர் மிகப்பெரிய உயரத்திற்குச் செல்வார் என்று எதிர்பார்த்ததாகவும் தெரிவித்தார்.

ஆனால் வாழ்க்கையில் ஏற்பட்ட தடுமாற்றங்களால் அவர் மிகவும் கீழே சென்றதாகக் கூறிய அஜயன் பாலா, ஒரு கட்டத்தில் “நாகராஜ் முடிந்துவிட்டார்” என்று தாங்களே நினைத்ததாகவும், பின்னர் மீண்டும் அவர் எழுந்து நிற்பார் என்று நிரூபித்திருப்பதாகவும் கூறினார்.

“ஒருவர் எவ்வளவு கீழே சென்றாலும், மீண்டும் மேலே வர முடியும் என்பதற்கு நாகராஜ் மிகப்பெரிய உதாரணம். இந்த விழா அவருக்கு ஒரு புதிய பிறப்பு போன்றது” என்று அவர் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

“என்னால் நாகராஜ் போல் கதை சொல்ல முடியாது!”

இயக்குநர் சசி, நாகராஜுடனான தனது 30 ஆண்டுகால நட்பை நினைவுகூர்ந்தார்.

ஒருமுறை நாகராஜ் மாலை 6 மணிக்கு தொடங்கி இரவு 8 மணி வரை ஒரு கதையைச் சொன்னதாகவும், அந்த இரண்டு மணி நேரமும் அவரது கதை சொல்லும் விதம் தன்னை பிரமிக்க வைத்ததாகவும் சசி தெரிவித்தார்.

“நாகராஜ் போல் என்னால் ஒருபோதும் கதை சொல்ல முடியாது. அப்படி கதை சொல்லத் தெரியவில்லை என்றால் நல்ல இயக்குநராக முடியாது என்று அன்றே நினைத்தேன்” என்று சசி கூறினார்.

நாகராஜின் படைப்புகளில் இருக்கும் சென்சிபிலிட்டியும், பெண் கதாபாத்திரங்களை அவர் கையாளும் விதமும் தனக்கு மிகவும் பிடிக்கும் என்றும் அவர் தெரிவித்தார்.

மேலும், திரையரங்கில் படம் முடிந்த பிறகும் ரசிகர்களின் மனதில் தொடர்ந்து ஓடக்கூடிய படங்களை உருவாக்கக்கூடியவர் நாகராஜ் என்றும், ‘ஆகாயம்’ மீது தனக்கு மிகுந்த எதிர்பார்ப்பு இருப்பதாகவும் சசி கூறினார்.

“சினிமா கடைசி வரை கைவிடாது!”

இயக்குநர் பாலசேகர், நாகராஜை தனது சினிமா குருவாகக் கருதுவதாகக் கூறினார்.

வசனம் எழுதுவது, மாடுலேஷன், கதை சொல்லும் விதம் என பல விஷயங்களை நாகராஜிடமிருந்து கற்றுக்கொண்டதாகவும், குறிப்பாக அவரது படங்களில் பெண் கதாபாத்திரங்கள் கண்ணியமாக கையாளப்படுவது தனக்கு மிகவும் பிடிக்கும் என்றும் தெரிவித்தார்.

“இடையில் வாழ்க்கையில் எவ்வளவு விஷயங்கள் நடந்தாலும் நாகராஜ் சினிமாவை மட்டும் கைவிடவில்லை. சினிமா ஒருவரை கடைசி வரை கைவிடாது என்பதற்கு நாகராஜே சிறந்த உதாரணம்” என்றார்.

அவரது திறமையை நம்பி ‘ஆகாயம்’ படத்தை தயாரித்த தயாரிப்பாளர்களையும் பாலசேகர் பாராட்டினார்.

“விழுந்த பிறகு எழுந்து நிற்பவன்தான் உண்மையான மனிதன்!”

நடிகரும் இயக்குநருமான சித்ரா லட்சுமணன், நாகராஜின் வாழ்க்கையில் ஏற்பட்ட தடுமாற்றங்களை வெளிப்படையாகக் குறிப்பிட்டு, அதிலிருந்து அவர் மீண்டு வந்திருப்பதை பாராட்டினார்.

வாழ்க்கையில் தவறுகள் நடப்பது இயல்புதான் என்றும், ஆனால் அதிலிருந்து மீண்டு வந்து தன்னை மீண்டும் கட்டமைத்துக் கொள்வதுதான் முக்கியம் என்றும் அவர் கூறினார்.

“வாழ்க்கையில் விழாதவர்கள் யாரும் இல்லை. விழுந்த பிறகு எழுந்து நிற்பவன்தான் உண்மையான மனிதன். அதை நாகராஜ் சாதித்துக் காட்டியிருக்கிறார்” என்றார்.

‘ஆகாயம்’ – அன்பை பேசும் கதை

இயக்குநர் நாகராஜ் பேசும்போது, இந்தப் படத்தை உருவாக்கியதன் பின்னணியில் இருந்த தயாரிப்பாளர்களின் நம்பிக்கையை குறிப்பிட்டார்.

தான் சொன்ன கதையை சுமார் மூன்று மணி நேரம் கேட்ட தயாரிப்பாளர் ஜெயச்சந்திரன், உடனடியாக படத்தை தயாரிக்க முடிவு செய்ததாகவும், தனது படைப்பின் மீது வைத்திருந்த நம்பிக்கையே தனக்கு மிகப்பெரிய பலமாக இருந்ததாகவும் தெரிவித்தார்.

தனது வாழ்க்கையில் ஏற்பட்ட தவறான பாதையைப் போல, வாழ்க்கையில் தடுமாறி மீண்டும் திரும்பி வர விரும்புபவர்கள் பலர் இருப்பதாகக் கூறிய நாகராஜ், அவர்களுக்கான ஒரு நம்பிக்கையாக ‘ஆகாயம்’ இருக்கும் என்றார்.

படத்தில் இடம்பெறும் “குடி உள்ளே போனால் குடும்பம் வெளியே போயிடும்” என்ற வசனத்தை குறிப்பிட்ட அவர், குடிப்பழக்கத்தை ஒருபோதும் கொண்டாடக்கூடாது என்றும் வலியுறுத்தினார்.

அதே நேரத்தில், வாழ்க்கையில் தவறிவிட்ட ஒருவர் மீண்டும் எழுந்து வருவதற்கான வாய்ப்பும் ஆதரவும் கிடைக்க வேண்டும் என்பதையும் படம் பேசும் என்று தெரிவித்தார்.

அரசியல் பின்னணியும் படத்தில் இடம்பெற்றிருப்பதாகக் கூறிய நாகராஜ், இறுதியில் இந்தப் படம் அனைத்தையும் தாண்டி அன்பைப் பற்றித்தான் பேசுகிறது என்றார்.

விழாவில் நண்பர்கள் தனக்காக ஒன்று கூடியிருப்பதையும் குறிப்பிட்ட அவர், அந்த அன்புதான் தன்னை மீண்டும் இந்த இடத்திற்குக் கொண்டு வந்திருப்பதாகவும் கூறினார்.

“அன்பால் தான் விஜய் தமிழகத்தின் முதல்வரானார்!”

தனது பேச்சின் இறுதியில் அரசியலையும் அன்பையும் இணைத்துப் பேசிய நாகராஜ்,

“இந்த உலகம் அன்பால் உருவானது என்று நான் மீண்டும் நம்புகிறேன். அதே அன்பால் தான் விஜய் தமிழகத்தின் முதல்வரானார். அந்த அன்பைத்தான் ‘ஆகாயம்’ பேசுகிறது” என்றார்.

இந்தப் படம் ரசிகர்களுக்கு நிச்சயம் பிடிக்கும் என்றும் அவர் நம்பிக்கை தெரிவித்தார்.

“இந்தப் படம் தேசிய விருது பெற வேண்டும்!”

இசையமைப்பாளர் ரகுநந்தன், நாகராஜ் கதை சொல்லும் விதத்தை வெகுவாக பாராட்டினார்.

முதல் சந்திப்பிலேயே இரண்டு மணி நேரத்திற்கும் மேலாக ஒவ்வொரு கதாபாத்திரமாக நடித்துக் காட்டி நாகராஜ் கதை சொன்னது தன்னை ஆச்சரியப்படுத்தியதாகக் கூறினார்.

படத்தின் பாடல்கள் மற்றும் பின்னணி இசையிலும் நாகராஜ் முழுமையாக ஈடுபட்டதாக தெரிவித்த ரகுநந்தன், ‘ஆகாயம்’ தேசிய விருது பெற வேண்டும் என்று தனது விருப்பத்தை வெளிப்படுத்தினார்.

இயக்குநர்கள் பேரரசு, சற்குணம், கிருஷ்ணா உள்ளிட்டோரும் நாகராஜின் திறமையைப் பாராட்டி, ‘ஆகாயம்’ அவருக்கு மிகப்பெரிய வெற்றியைத் தர வேண்டும் என்று வாழ்த்தினர்.

இயக்குநர் கிருஷ்ணா, ‘மின்னலே’ படத்தில் பணியாற்றிய காலத்திலிருந்தே நாகராஜுடன் தனக்கு நட்பு இருப்பதாகவும், தனது கதைகளை முதலில் அவரிடம் கூறி ஆலோசனைகளைப் பெற்றதாகவும் தெரிவித்தார்.

‘சில்லுனு ஒரு காதல்’ படத்தில் சூர்யா, ஜோதிகா தொடர்பான ஒரு முக்கியமான காட்சியை இன்னும் சிறப்பாக மாற்ற நாகராஜ் கூறிய சிறிய யோசனை பின்னர் திரையரங்கில் பெரிய வரவேற்பைப் பெற்றதாகவும் அவர் நினைவுகூர்ந்தார்.

நடிகர் ஸ்ரீராம் கார்த்திக், நாகராஜின் இயக்கத்தில் பணியாற்றியது மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சி அளித்ததாகவும், படத்தின் வசனங்கள் மற்றும் இயக்கம் மிகப்பெரிய பலமாக இருப்பதாகவும் தெரிவித்தார்.

திறமையான கூட்டணியில் உருவான ‘ஆகாயம்’

ஸ்ரீராம் கார்த்திக் கதாநாயகனாகவும், ஆலிஷா மிராணி கதாநாயகியாகவும் நடித்துள்ள இப்படத்தில் ஷீலா, கனிகா, சந்தான பாரதி, ஜெயபிரகாஷ், கிரி துவாரகிஷ், ஸ்ரீ தேவகிருஷ்ணன், இந்துமதி மணிகண்டன், தீபா, சஞ்சனா நமீதாஸ், ரோசாரி, ரைட்டர் ஹரிஹரன் உள்ளிட்ட பலர் முக்கிய கதாபாத்திரங்களில் நடித்துள்ளனர்.

‘சென்னை டு சிங்கப்பூர்’, ‘காதல் கண்டிஷன்ஸ் அப்ளை’ உள்ளிட்ட படங்களுக்கு ஒளிப்பதிவு செய்த கார்த்திக் நல்லமுத்து இப்படத்திற்கு ஒளிப்பதிவு செய்துள்ளார்.

‘நீர்ப்பறவை’, ‘அயோத்தி’ உள்ளிட்ட படங்களுக்கு இசையமைத்த ரகுநந்தன் இசையமைத்துள்ளார். ஏக்நாத், சாரதி, ரமணிகாந்தன் ஆகியோர் பாடல்களை எழுதியுள்ளனர்.

‘ஒரு நொடி’, ‘ஜென்ம நட்சத்திரம்’ படங்களுக்கு படத்தொகுப்பு செய்த சூர்யா எடிட்டிங் பணிகளை மேற்கொண்டுள்ளார். சண்டைப் பயிற்சியை பையர் கார்த்திக் அமைக்க, நடனத்தை மணிகண்டன் வடிவமைத்துள்ளார்.

நீண்ட இடைவெளிக்குப் பிறகு மீண்டும் இயக்குநராக திரும்பியிருக்கும் தினந்தோறும் நாகராஜின் ‘ஆகாயம்’, அவரது சினிமா பயணத்தில் புதிய அத்தியாயத்தைத் தொடங்குமா என்ற எதிர்பார்ப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.

“Nagraj Has Proved That Anyone Can Rise Again” – Filmmakers Praise His Comeback at ‘Aagayam’ Audio Launch

“I could never narrate a story the way Nagraj does,” says director Sasi

The audio launch of ‘Aagayam’, directed by Dhinanthorum Nagraj, turned into an emotional celebration of the filmmaker’s comeback, with several prominent personalities from the Tamil film industry recalling his remarkable storytelling ability, creative talent and journey back to cinema.

Produced by Jeyachandran and Karthika Devi under the banner of Delta Talkies, ‘Aagayam’ has been written and directed by Nagraj, who has also penned the screenplay and dialogues. Actor Sriram Karthik plays the lead, while Alisha Mirani makes her debut as the female lead.

Directors R.V. Udhayakumar, Perarasu, Sasi, Cheran, filmmaker-actor Chithra Lakshmanan, producer T. Siva, directors Sarkunam and Balasekar, among several other members of the film fraternity, attended the event and extended their wishes to the team.

“Nagraj has shown that one can rise again” – Ajayan Bala

Writer Ajayan Bala, who has known Nagraj for nearly 25 years, recalled meeting him during their days in journalism and being fascinated by his ability to narrate stories.

According to him, Nagraj could describe every scene so vividly that it felt as though the events were unfolding right in front of the listener. He also recalled the reception Nagraj received when his film Dhinanthorum was released.

Ajayan Bala said that many of them expected Nagraj to reach great heights after the success of the film, but life took an unexpected turn.

“We even reached a stage where Sasi and I thought Nagraj was finished. But he has now proved that no matter how far someone falls, they can rise again,” he said.

Calling the ‘Aagayam’ event a new beginning for Nagraj, Ajayan Bala added that the filmmaker’s return was much more significant than an ordinary film event.

“I can’t narrate a story like Nagraj” – Director Sasi

Director Sasi recalled meeting Nagraj nearly three decades ago and being stunned by his storytelling ability.

He remembered an occasion when Nagraj narrated a story from around 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., keeping everyone completely engaged.

“I remember thinking that I could never narrate a story like Nagraj. I even felt that if I couldn’t narrate stories that way, I could never become a good director,” Sasi said.

He also praised Nagraj’s sensitivity as a filmmaker, particularly the dignity with which he writes and portrays women characters.

According to Sasi, some films end when the audience walks out of the theatre, while certain films continue to live in the audience’s minds. He expressed confidence that ‘Aagayam’ would belong to the latter category.

“Cinema never abandons you” – Balasekar

Director Balasekar described Nagraj as his guru and said he had learned several aspects of filmmaking from him, including dialogue writing, modulation and storytelling.

He also recalled Nagraj’s work in Dhinanthorum and pointed out that actor Ravi Teja, who went on to become a major star in Telugu cinema, had acted alongside Nagraj in the Telugu version, Manishi.

Balasekar said Nagraj had the talent to have reached a much bigger position in the industry, but despite the difficulties in his personal life, he never gave up on cinema.

“Cinema never abandons a person until the very end. Nagraj sir is one of the best examples of that,” he said.

He also appreciated the producers for trusting Nagraj’s talent and giving him an opportunity to return to filmmaking.

“Falling is not the end; rising again is what matters” – Chithra Lakshmanan

Actor and filmmaker Chithra Lakshmanan spoke candidly about Nagraj’s difficult phase in life and his efforts to rebuild himself.

He said everyone makes mistakes in life, but what matters is having the courage to acknowledge them and start again.

“There is no one who has never fallen in life. The person who rises after falling is the real human being. Nagraj has proved that,” he said.

Chithra Lakshmanan also thanked the producers for bringing a talented filmmaker back to the industry and expressed hope that ‘Aagayam’ would mark a major new chapter in Nagraj’s career.

‘Aagayam’ is ultimately about love, says Nagraj

Speaking at the event, director Dhinanthorum Nagraj thanked the producers for believing in him and his vision.

He revealed that the producers listened to his story for nearly three hours and immediately decided to back the project.

Nagraj said the faith shown by the producers gave him the confidence to make the film in the way he wanted.

The filmmaker also explained that ‘Aagayam’ addresses the issue of alcohol consumption without glorifying it.

One of the film’s dialogues, “When alcohol enters, the family walks out,” reflects the film’s stance on the consequences of alcoholism, he said.

According to Nagraj, the film also seeks to convey a message to people who may have taken a wrong path in life and are looking for an opportunity to start over.

“If I can come back, I believe many others like me can also come back,” he said.

Nagraj added that while the film touches upon politics and several social issues, its central theme is ultimately love and human relationships.

He also referred to the support extended by his friends in the film industry and said their affection had played an important role in bringing him back.

“It was love that made Vijay the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu”

Nagraj’s comments on politics also drew attention at the event.

Saying that politics exists in almost every aspect of life, he stressed that ‘Aagayam’ goes beyond politics and focuses on love.

“The world was created through love, and I believe that once again. It was the same love that made Vijay the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. That is the love ‘Aagayam’ talks about,” Nagraj said.

He expressed confidence that audiences would connect with and enjoy the film.

“I want ‘Aagayam’ to win a National Award” – Raghunandhan

Music composer Raghunandhan recalled his first meeting with Nagraj and admitted that he was initially a little nervous about working with him.

However, Nagraj’s unique method of narrating the script, acting out different characters and bringing every character to life left a strong impression on him.

Raghunandhan said Nagraj was deeply involved in the creation of the songs as well as the background score.

He also expressed his wish for ‘Aagayam’ to receive a National Award, praising the team’s approach to the story and characters.

Krishna recalls Nagraj’s creative contribution

Director Krishna, who has known Nagraj since the days of Minnale, recalled seeking his advice on several of his own scripts.

He revealed that Nagraj had also suggested a small but important idea for a key scene involving Suriya and Jyothika in Sillunu Oru Kadhal, which later received a strong response from theatre audiences.

Krishna described Nagraj as not only a talented writer and director but also an excellent actor, recalling his performance in Dhinanthorum.

He expressed happiness over Nagraj’s return and said he was looking forward to seeing his writing in ‘Aagayam’.

The team behind ‘Aagayam’

‘Aagayam’ features Sriram Karthik as the protagonist and Alisha Mirani as the female lead. The cast also includes Sheela, Kanika, Santhanabharathi, Jayaprakash, Giri Dwarakish, Sri Devakrishnan, Indhumathi Manikandan, Deepa, Sanjana Namidass, Rosary and writer Hariharan, among others.

Karthik Nallamuthu, known for films such as Chennai 2 Singapore and Kadhal Conditions Apply, has handled the cinematography.

Music is composed by Raghunandhan, who has worked on films including Neerparavai and Ayothi. Eknath, Sarathi and Ramanikanthan have penned the songs.

Editor Surya, who has worked on Oru Nodi and Jenma Natchathiram, is handling the editing. Stunt choreography is by Fire Karthik, while Manikandan has handled the dance choreography.

With the audio launch bringing together several senior members of the Tamil film industry to celebrate Nagraj’s return, ‘Aagayam’ has created considerable curiosity ahead of its theatrical release.

For Nagraj, however, the film appears to represent much more than a new directorial venture — it marks a fresh beginning after a long journey of setbacks, resilience and redemption.
